I am in the process of finding properly cooked tasty tandoori chicken in US..I have tried in 3-4 restaurants, none of the them prepare authenticated tandoori chicken. Everybody servers that red colored chicken which is no where close to actual Tandoori Chicken. I would say this is a westernized version of tandoori chicken with a different flavor. I think all the chef from Indian restaurant should at least taste once in their life time, the authenticated Tandoori chicken prepared in India only than they could realize what is taste of a Tandoor dish like. I felt the same when I have it in Bombay Bistro as well....My huge disappointment is, I have in fact traveled from San Antonio to Austin, to have the same red colored chicken. I am afraid that over a period of time the people in US will start believe that the red colored chicken is the tandoori chicken. Also the same case for Hydrabadi Briyani as well..No body in world really servers authentic Hydrabadi Briyani. I hate that, it was ridiculous. Same thing, I would like to iterate it again, chef should learn dishes from respective places in India where these tasty mouth watering dishes are originated. One of a common person person who is willing to preserve the nativity of Indian food.

Its hard for me to remember the last time I was in a restaurant where the service was so slow I was ready to just leave. It took over 40 minutes to get our food. Worse still, they didnt even seem to care to update us on what the problem was or to really check in even. When the food finally came, it was pretty mediocre by my standards for indian food. Ive been to quite a few Indian places, and the quality and flavor just wasnt up there. They even tried to deliver someone elses food to our table, then went back to the manager to figure out what happened. Clearly there was a lot of confusion. It amazed me that there were more restaurant staff there than customers by far, yet they couldnt get it together. Not worth it, avoid.

This Indian restaurant is pretty BAD in all ways.. I asked them for Veg Biriyani and asked them to make it spicy.. Trust me they just dont understand what spicy is ... he gave me something that was just a mix of rice and some carrots.. They dont even know that adding carrot will make the dish sweet. I then asked him to make it spicy and when he gave me second time, he had just put some pepper powder, not even mixed well and he was claiming that actually its dhum Biriyani. *** DONT EVER GO TO THIS RESTAURANT , THEY JUST DONT KNOW COOKING... *** and service is thrown to hell .... I would recommend you guys to try " Masala Wok" and "Bombay Express" to see how good a food can taste..

Ive been here for the buffet and dinner service (or lack thereof) on multiple occasions. The buffet has always been great but the service at dinner is simply awful. Youll be lucky if they ever return to your table after dropping off your food. Their poor quality in service is only trumped by Sarovar - where Ive waited more than 25 minutes just to place an order. They do make great food but it seems the quality is beginning to decline as some of the most delicious foods on the buffet are no longer what Id consider to be edible. They are, however, the best North Indian lunch buffet in town - since Shalimar is no longer good and Sarovar cheaps out on their lunch buffet options.

Hands down, best bindhi masala Ive had since I was in Long Beach 4 years ago. Its taken that long to find this one dish made the way I had it back then, which was down right delicious. The chicken tikka masala that my husband ordered was also delicious. The only reason they lost a star is because the service lacked some luster, some care, some smiles, which makes a good bit of difference for me when visiting a food establishment, or any establishment at that. If this one area is improved, Id easily give this place 5 stars. Until then, I can rely on some kick ass bindhi masala for dinner whenever we need to visit The Joint next door.

Good service cant make up for the bland, flavorless, not-at-all Indian food buffet. If youre a fan of Northern-style Indian cuisine, this is a huge let-down in every respect. My friends raved about the dishes but theres nothing authentic here at all and I left with more questions than answers. Where are the poppadoms? Whats the deal with the rice? Wheres the spice? Why does the chicken Tandoori suck so bad? And why is there a meatball dish in the middle of all the food? Im pretty sure whoever cooks here couldnt find India on a map - for fans of true Indian food, the fare here is a joke.

The food is a disgrace. First of all, for the price Bombay Bistro charges, it should be serving gourmet Indian food. The chef has no idea what he is making. The chicken pieces were not cut bite size, the curries are watery, one could taste the biryani masala in the biryani chicken, the rotis were as hard as the pappad and above all, the waiter forgot to bring in a dish. When we pointed it out, he told us that is not his fault as he gave the order to the kitchen staff and they must not have followed through with the order!!! Please do not waste your time and money here.

As others have said, the service can be iffy, and the staff doesnt speak much English. I dont know how authentic the food is, but its always been SUPER tasty. You can tell they use high quality ingredients and spices. Also, for sure my favorite naan in Austin. They do buffet for lunch, which is tasty, good value, and they usually have a decent variety, but you cant necessarily get exactly what you want. For that, we usually order from Bite Squad for dinner. I definitely recommend trying it out, but maybe try the takeout first.

My girlfriend and I decided we would try this place after hearing rave reviews. Wed all but finished our meal when we saw a rat nearly the size of a kitten running under tables and towards the front part of the restaurant. Needless to say, two things happened: One, we never saw our waiter again and two, the manager very smoothly corralled the rat right back towards the kitchen. Ive told everyone about it since. Needless to say, well never go back there. The Health Department was notified the next day.

When the staff outnumbers the customers at a restaurant, you would expect great service, right? WRONG. We waited almost an hour for our food and when I finally asked about it, it appeared right away. Then when I asked for more rice, I watched as the server went to the kitchen, mulled around for a bit, then got a scoop of rice out of the pot from me about 5 minutes later. The paneer was phenomenal, but this place definitely is only worth 1 star for the bad service.

Im Indian. Like Indian from India. So I think I know a bit about Indian food. The last time I went to Bombay Bistro (several months ago) was the last time I went to that place. I literally threw up an hour or two after eating there. I dont know what it was -- it just made me feel really heavy and nauseous. For some really authentic, home-made-like Indian food, check out Curry in a Hurry on Parmer. Fancy it is not, but it is the real deal.
