WHAT To Expect: Super-tasty Italian faves, served inventively in tapas/small plates-style by the chef-masterminds behind Cava, with in-house-made pastas, family-attuned service and atmosphere. WHY You Should Go: Because theres something for every member of the family here! The tapas-stylish presentation of all your fave Italian dishes makes for a hip, upscale Date Night experience (Recommendations include "Crazy Dirty Martinis"; crispy Brussels Sprouts; fried Calamari; ANY of the pasta or risotto dishes; Tiramisu to finish). Or, bring the rugrats/tweenies for house-made Mac-n-Cheese or pizza pies, complemented nicely by a "lemonade Cotton Candy drink" (vs. the "Cotton Candy martini, adults version!) or simply cotton candy on-a-stick for dessert! (big THANK YOU to our waitress that offered this!) WHEN You Should Go: Whenever you feel like venturing outside the DC beltway (yes, it IS a trek, but WORTH it) for a no-disappointments osteria meal.

The first time we went here I was impressed by the food. My favorite was a risotto with lamb and blue cheese which I fantasized about for a week afterward. Less impressive was the service (slow and haphazard) but it was a Saturday night and crowded, so that was somewhat understandable. Also, the place is very loud when crowded (lots of hard surfaces, I guess, that reflect noise) and for some reason the bathrooms are "one-seaters" and require some wait time. Their pizza, which they describe as rustic, is excellent in the center but burnt enough at the edges for that part to be inedible. Still there was that risotto, and an excellent charcuterie, so weve gone back a couple of times (not on Saturday). The service was much better, the noise level was lower, but the lamb risotto was gone. All in all, weve made the decision that there are better choices in the immediate area and wont be going back.

named by washingtonians best restaurants issue one of the "ten to look forward to in 2012", sugo cicchetti is the latest venture from the cava mezze team. although for sugo theyve moved from a mediterranean flavor profile to comfort-food italian, the restaurants menus share a focus on tight, tasty, and well-seasoned small plates. the dishes all look beautiful, and while many stick closely to the familiar, hearty flavors of homestyle italian, there are some really creative spins to those flavors as well. and as an added bonus, they mix great cocktails. ill no doubt be back here again and again to exhaustively explore the menu; my only complaint after five dishes of food was that the restaurant is not closer to my home. regardless, the trip to sugo is no doubt one ill make many times, and i highly recommend you do as well.

With the exception of the black truffle gnocchi which was extremely flavorful (altho the gnocchi were too soft), all our entrees were bland. Chicken Parm was a bit better than other entrees but needed salt; chicken Marsala was virtually tasteless (dont nkow how this is possible since Marsala wine has such a distinctive flavor!); and the flat iron steak meal was so small that it looked like an appetizer with only 5 small slices of meat, approx. 5 potatoes, and 2 pearl onions. Server was good but overall the service was slow with it taking about 30 minutes to get plain butter for our bread and we never got to ask for additional food near the end of the meal. May be willing to return for brunch but definitely not worth a return trip at dinner.

Stopped by the other day to grab some lunch. The place was about half full and we were seated right away. Maybe our server was having an off day, but he was in a sullen mood and bordering on the rude in his service level. That dampened our spirits but the food made up for some of the downed spirits. I had the burger that was a generous portion. My medium rare meat order was more on the medium side of rare but juicy enough for me to ignore the extra cooking. Finding parking for this restaurant can be a pain too and my colleague had to take a chance and park his car at the Harris Teeter lot. This place does definitely need to up its game in the service level if they care for the complete dining experience.

I went here for brunch on Sunday morning. The brunch is an all you can eat style tapas menu with bottomless mimosas. The food was delicious, but if you decide to order a la carte be prepared to pay a lot for a very small portion. The restaurant didn’t seem to be in great shape either, there was minimal decoration, and part of the ceiling above the kitchen seemed to be on the verge of collapse. There was also section of the paint on the wall that is peeling off. For the prices I expected more tasteful decorum. The service was slow, and perhaps this was just me, but I got the distinct impression that it was frowned upon to order a la carte. There are better places to go for a more reasonable price.

Brunch for around $35 cannot be beat around this area. They have everything from carbonara, truffled eggs, chicken & waffle, steak and eggs, fritattas, Everything here is delicious and worth the value if you plan on sampling everything. I do recommend if you want to try the pizza it is large. Remember to pace yourself when eating here. I need to stop by to sample their dinner menu. Ive heard only great things. Parking here can be tight sometimes with the new development and office building. Reservations here are highly recommended.

Wow! We have been here for the all you can eat/drink brunch several times now and each time the quality reduced. Today was the final straw. The food was the worst, the mimosas were no bueno and I just couldnt wait to get out. I would rather have less food that is of good quality than massive amounts of crap. I wish they could have kept the quality same as when they first began (everything was sooo good then). We will never go back for the brunch. That being said, I have had dinner here once and it was quite good.

This is a tapas style restaurant, so youll want to go with a group of friends that like to share. For dinner, I had enough delicious food and it was only about $20. I like the sharing style because I could try a little of everything. We also went there for brunch, which was even better, but more expensive. We did the all-you-can-eat for $30, and ordered about $50 worth of food and drinks for each of us. Again, the tapas style made it so we could all try a ton of different dishes. We almost tried the entire menu!

Took an hour for our first orders to come out. Not only did they forget (after 30 minutes we said something), they also did not apologize, then had the audacity to claim last call before we had been served a crumb. Brunch gets busy, it happens, but even with that taken into consideration service was embarrassing (water/mimosa refills?). Not remotely worth it. Food was decent (yogurt, waffles) but at times overcooked (chicken, what I assume was their attempt at bacon). Never Again.

I went here for brunch. They had a large enough selection of options for the table. Its all you can eat for $35 as long as the whole table orders the dishes. Well worth it as I ended up eating a lot! Everything was way too good to pass up. My favorites were the Nutella waffles, French toast (so crispy! And honey syrup!), the pizza, and eggs benedict. Awesome staff and service as well.
