The service was excellent, they were super nice even though I made my order complicated. They had a polite smile the whole time and a pleasant demeanor, especially for being off Kirkwood on a Friday night, which I can imagine gets very busy near closing time, since this is a college town, after all. The cashier girl pointed out that I could get free miso soup to go, and after I poured she took it from me to make sure it was secured in my to go bag with everything else. And Im currently eating the sushi.... its delicious! The last time I remember having such a pleasant experience getting sushi ( Ill admit the unending supply of Miso soup is part of it) Is when I was in Tokyo. My favorite Ramen experience was in Osaka, so Ill have to try that next. Please do visit this shop, I received an excellent deal for sushi and sashimi combo, and if you go during lunch they have nice specials, I just never make it in time. I hunted around Bloomington for a bit, and this place appears to offer the most " bang for your buck" as well.

First of all, I am allergic to seaweed so I order my rolls wrapped in soy paper. When I received my first roll wrapped in soy paper, after waiting for an hour, it had bad fish in it confirmed by everyone at my table. When I asked the waitress to bring a manager over, he refused to come talk to me. I tried to order a new roll wrapped in soy paper and the waitress came back and told me she couldnt do it. After telling her I was allergic to seaweed she talked to the manager and still he refused to talk to me or accommodate my allergy. Down right the worst service I have ever experienced; waitress never checked up on us, but only to take our orders, we were all working on the same glass of water all night. I didnt get a meal that night, and I will never be going back there again.

This is one of my favorite lunch spots near campus. The lunch bento box is a great deal, coming with rice, a small salad, two gyoza, half a California roll, plus the entrée. If you get the chicken tempura bento box, you end up with a lot of food for just $7.50. The chicken or pork katsu is also pretty good, but not nearly as much food. Also, everything comes with free miso soup. The soup is pretty bland as far as miso soup goes, but hey, its free. The sushi, katsu, tempura, ramen, and kimbob/kimbap/gimbap are all pretty good, but not spectacular. If you like the big fancy expensive rolls, you can get two for one on them any time.

Foods great, service is abysmal. They posted a buy one roll get on free on the Hooked app, and when we drove by to get one to go, we were stopped by some security guy telling us they were closed for a party. You cant post something like that and then shut out anyone trying to take advantage of the deal. We went by Sake Bar right around the corner, and they told us that they couldnt accept it (despite being owned by japonee)... After we waited to be seated for at least 5 minutes. Ill be telling everyone I know to avoid Japonee like the plague.

I give the food 4.5 stars, but the restaurant overall is only 3 stars. The food is quite good...bento boxes are well done and full of food. The shrimp tempura bento box is the one I really like. But, if there is anything wrong with your order, the "management" will not make it right and they simply do not care. So, its probably best to dine in and at your own risk.

My favorite lunch spot near campus. Free miso soup! Their lunch bento boxes are a great deal. The boba teas are great hot or cold. Fast service and they do takeout. For less of an express feel try their fancier place downtown!
