Was sat quickly but under a leaky air vent. Condensation dripped on us randomly and we couldnt keep food in the center of the table or risk a.c. wet food. There was liquid in the condiment conatiner that would splash everywere when you took out a bottle. Waited 59 minutes for our main meal. The appetizer was out in 15 minutes. The nachos were Doritos covered in sliced cheese of the sandwich variety, taco meat, couple of banana pepper slices and drowned in what seems to be a half a head of lettuce. It tasted odd. I ordered the shrimp sandwich - just boxed shrimp that was fried and dumped on a hamburger bun. Stale bun, and so many shrimp it really wasnt a sandwich. I expected a hogie roll as it was kinda hard to keep shrimp on a bun. Drinks were kept full at least.

This restaurant has a bad wait time for not some good food. The quality of the food was not worth the 20-30min wait. With the fact of waiting for a sandwhich that I could have made at home & the food had came out cold with fries from a store bought quality. Overall the food is not as good as I expected but the decore on the other hand was vintage in a way ( the only part that I like about the "restaurant"). As well with a garbage staff and waitress, not really caring about the customers and just want your money. Definitely will not be back

Recently moved to town, and have been to The Brown Lantern more than several times. HA! Yes, it appears very laid back! (On occasion one must yell out for assistance when you walk in? LOL!) Im thinking thats the Good ole Southern way of doing things? However, the food is great! Lunch or dinner, appetizers, salad, sandwich or full out steak dinner! Everything is prepared to perfection! They do offer cocktails, and I love their iced tea! Highly recommend.

The best food I have found so far in Live Oak. One of the few places you can really eat healthy. They have a grilled fish with the BEST fresh vegetables I have ever had. Prices were roght in line for food and my drink was maybe a little under what I would expect price wise and was certainly mixed well. All in all Ill be eating here a lot more.

Cant exactly tell you how the food was because we didnt even get to sit down..walked in the door and stood at a large dirty table waiting for it to be cleaned and no one showed up.. And yes they are snobby. .wont get a second chance in my book. Even after speaking with the manager nothing was done except o Im sorry...

This is not my first trip to the Brown Lantern nor will it be my last. The food is always very good and the service is the same. The shrimp with the coleslaw is as good as it gets. Make sure you get some of the cocktail sauce for your shrimp. I cant say enough about the food. Cant ask for any better.

This is a good local restaurant. The service was good, polite and speedy. The atmosphere is relaxed with classic rock and classic country playing in the background. The food was good, hot and served up pretty quick. Were glad we stopped by.

Visited several times while in town on business. The food and service were fair to good if a bit overpriced as they held one of the few liquor licenses in town. I understand that several other restaurants now have beer and wine licenses.

This is, without question, my favorite place to eat, not just in Live Oak - but ANYWHERE. Their "shrimp sandwich" is absolutely the best. If I could choose my last meal to eat on this Earth, it would be from the Brown Lantern!

I left Live Oak 14 years ago, and this restaurant is one of the few places I miss and make an effort to visit when Im in town. Friendly and hospitable staff, delicious food, and a great hometown vibe. Highly recommended.

The food is great here. I have never been disappointed. The shrimp and scallops plate is my go to meal! The sauces and salad dressings are all homemade if Im not mistaken.
