I have been forced to eat at this restaurant several times because my husband loves Tikka Masala. When I looked up this dish, I discovered that Tikka Masala is actually a British dish and the national food of England (if there is such a thing.) He wont eat any other food at Tarka. If I order something different he gets frustrated because he wants to eat my leftovers. The first and only time I tried Tikka Masala at the Round Rock restaurant, my tummy rebelled 20 minutes after leaving the restaurant. My husband did fine. Indian restaurants cook this dish but it is not an "Indian" dish the way fast food tacos are not a Mexican dish. Final analysis -- If you want spicy fast food with flavors from India that is low cost -- and you have good intestines -- then Tarka might be the restaurant for you. Try it and let us know about your experience.

Stopped in because I like Indian food but my spouse does not. I was interested in one of their dishes but it contained lamb and I am not a fan of lamb. I thought perhaps they may prepare it in a way that I would find edible. I asked if I could try a small piece of the lamb before I was ordered and I was told that if I wanted to try the lamb I needed to order it as they do not give samples. This is the first restaurant that I have ever asked for a small sample of some thing I was ordering for the first time that has ever refused or been so rude about it. I will never know if their lamb is tasty or nasty as I will not step foot inside this establishment again.

This by far probably the best Indian Restaurant in Austin, Round Rock. The food is absolutley fabulous, it is seasoned to perfection, the sauces are perfection personified. I am English and was brought up in London in the late 70s and my husband and I lived on Indian Food. The best you could get old school chefs who cooked from scratch. We lived in California for over 30 years and never found one decent Indian Restaurant. I cant tell you how excited I am to find Tarka I feel like I am back in London - thank you thank you thank you:)

Absolutely love this place. Not sure how "authentic" it is but there has to be crack in the malai kofta cause Im going back about once a week just for this dish. My husband also loves eating there and we always enjoy whatever we order. Also great for a vegetarian like me since there is more than one thing on the menu for me to choose from. The food is great, the service is quick, and the prices are decent. Will keep going back!!

Great fast way to get quality Indian cuisine! I was hesitant at first as its a chain but was not disappointed by any of their locations Ive tried. You order at the counter, take your number and have a seat. We tried the Dhingri Mattar Paneer (sooo good!) and the Mirch Masala (still good but I liked the other better). Very filling meal! Splitting those and an order of garlic naan was perfect for two people - maybe even too much!

Oh Tarka, you may be my favorite restaurant in the world. You can literally eat anything and its good. I did whole30 with my husband and we could eat very well here, and Im dairy free in general so the coconut curry is hands down the best. So thankful this place is nearby. The staff is always great too. Once I told the cashier my ac was out in my car and he insisted I take an iced tea on the house!

Tarra daal hot is hot ...even though staff including ones seen behind the scenes seems non-Indian origins food tasted Indian ..roti was good as well ..prices seem reasonable (was done in 10 bucks for dinner..time to serve food was low so hope freshly prepared food Free wifi didnt connect as such Indian songs with Indian paintings on walls with bit more classy Americanized seating is not at all bad

The food is good and the price is reasonable. They fail at a 5 star as I had to pay extra for naan and it didnt come with the meal not was it implied that it wouldnt be served . Serving Indian food without naan is the equivalent of making a pizza with out cheese or maybe the sauce. It isnt a meal without naan. I suggest you look into the movie give them the pickle for better customer service.

Consistently good food, fast service, and the option to order on-line has made Tarka one of our go-to restaurants. We love the chicken tikka masala and mulligatawny soup. All the fast-casual ambiance of Pei Wei with flavors that can compete with an authentic hole-in-the-wall Indian restaurant. Would recommend to anyone, even (especially) to someone who is intimidated by Indian food.

Meh...this restaurant is absolutely fine if you want the McDonalds equivalent of Indian food. It is not like a traditional Indian restaurant in feel or taste. The curry has that mass produced bland taste like a how a McDonalds has done to their burgers. If you do not feel like fine dining and just want fast food then this is fine. Id rather spend me money on better tasting food.

WOW -- thats how Id describe the taste and spiciness of the curries (mirch masala) and sauces (the green sauce that accompanies the crispy chicken pakoras). This restaurant shows how to do ethnic fast food right -- everything on the menus less than $10, order at a counter, get your piping hot and spicy food a few minutes later. Ill be back for more!

An obvious attempt to cash in on the popularity of Indian themes restaurants, the food was obviously canned, the flavors were mediocre at best, and the method was far too fast food. Ordered the spiciest version of their Mirch Marsala, and it came topped with jalapenos, button-mushrooms, and instead of real lamb, it was some sort of low-grade sausage.

Good food, good ambience and economical. Service is quick. Giving them 4 star only because it doesnt feel like an Indian restaurant. Its more of a quick walk thru setup (similar to chipotle) and theres no way You can build a rapport or establish yourself as a regular guest. Value for money and foos is very good. I would rate 4.5 if I could.

Really great, fresh and fast Indian food. A good choice when introducing people to indian cuisine. The menu is varied but approachable and the spice levels are adjustable between mild medium and hot. We eat here often and have never had bad food or service. Highly recommended!

Something for everyone! My husband loves the curry (can be super super spicy, you just have to ask), my toddler son loves the chicken pakoras (think jazzed-up chicken strips), and I love the naninis (shredded chicken sandwich). Prices are reasonable, and your food comes out fast.

I love Tarka! It has great Indian food! The great thing is you can also pick how bland or spicy you would like your food to be. The Tikka Masala is great for anyone first trying out Indian food. Only complaint is the soda machine is not that great, it kind of tastes syrupy.

Delicious Indian food for a great price. Fast service as well. We enjoyed the garlic naan and the curries. I ordered the chicken korma and found the serving sizes to be plentiful and curry well spiced. Wish they had a Tarka in the area we live in! I highly recommend them!
