I used to drive from Bethany to La Provence at Progress Ridge every weekend to have breakfast with my son. We liked going there because we loved their breakfast and the service was good but just last Sunday we had horrible experience/service from the beginning to the end. Julie was our server and when we got seated no one came to serve us water or asked if we wanted something other than water. He saw them sat 2 other tables and as soon as they were sat someone came to greet them, served them water and where asked if they wanted something else to drink but not us. after waiting 15 min (without water), I walked over to the server and asked her if we could be helped and she said she was busy but she will be coming shortly. She came to serve us water and then told me that she was going to serve the other table because they got there first! i didnt argue with her even though that table got there after us since we saw them got seated while we were waiting to get some water! I order a "champurrado" when she brought it to me it was room temperature when i asked her if that was the way it was meant to be she looked so annoyed and told me that if i wanted it hot she could heated up for me, so she did but brought it boiling hot i could see bubbles on the chocolate. She took forever to bring us our food and when the food arrived it was cold! She never asked if everything was "okay". I had to grab her attention to ask for the bill. HORRIBLE HORRIBLE service!! I"m not planning on going back there anytime soon!

So disapointed. We were so excited and read great reviews and we let down big time. The hostess was annoyed that we had my toddler and we wanted a booth. She rolled her eyes at us. I ordered a refreshing cocktail, bordueax delight, and it was sooo good i was going to order anothet. Then when ordering, hubby and I decided to split the lavendar and lentil salad and the beef medallions. We let the waitress know that we were splitting. And by the way we generally always split to save money but we tip as though we ordered two entrees for the trouble. Anyway when they brought out the food I was so shocked by the lack of food on the plate I thought It had to be a mistake. No mistake folks. I really wish i had taken a picture. There were 3 tiny strips of beef with a mini scoop of potato. The beef was over done, we ordered medium. Honestly we each got 3 bites, at best, of food each. The salad was really good. But really...its a salad. I was really upset that the waitress didnt warn us. And the beef plate was 9 dollars! The menu does say petite but what we were served was not an entree. We also ordered my kiddo some chicken pasta with cheese sauce. It was so bland and barely any chicken or sauce for that matter. I would be willing to try breakfast but yikes...dont walk in hoping for a meal when youre hungry

My boyfriend and I wanted to go someplace a little special for date night and decided to go to La Provence because every time weve walked passed it all of the tables were always full (a good sign if Ive ever seen one). We were impressed with the quality of food we got for such a decent price! The plates are a little small, but that just made it easier to get a dessert at the end of our meal! We got the bone marrow to share, which was very good and easy to split. I got the scallop plate which was cooked to perfection. Its easy to overcook scallops, making them rubbery, but my scallops were a great texture. They came on a bed of rice with a pepper sauce and the flavors complemented each other beautifully. I like wine with my dinner, but I dont get it often enough to know what to pair my food with, so I asked for a suggestion from the waiter, which was their pinot grigio. It turned out to be a very good combination! My boyfriend got the salmon and it turned out to be overcooked but the flavor was good. Overall, our experience was wonderful. They played music from pandora and a low enough volume that made it easy to hold a conversation.

The Food is superb, most of the staff is friendly, the atmosphere with the lake view is great, but on Mothers Day 6:00 my boyfriend and I had a bad experience, the lady bartender was cranky, not friendly at all, we seen some empty tables in front of the bar, so we ask if we could sit there, and she said nastily, go up front and ask the hostess, but this isnt the first time she wasnt friendly, she did this another time we came, seen us and said oh you here again, also one other hostess said we are all filled up, in fact we left, so my boyfriend told the hostess about the bartender being rude and we were leaving, but one of hostesses came to our car and apologized to us for the rudeness, said that the bartender was overwhelmed, and said please return and we will get you a table, the place was crowded, but there was tables available. So we did return. And the waiter was really nice. We go here a lot, Zack and Justin is really nice, never cranky, always friendly.

This was our first visit to this location, but we had been to the one in The Dalles before. Even though the building gives a completely different feel when you walk in, the experience ends up being the same. Poor service, hit-and-miss food. The service actually started off fine, but the man that brought out our food erased any good service from the others very quickly on his first interaction with us. It was very much a "how dare you eat in this restaurant and make me bring you food" attitude. The food didnt help, either. The main part of what both of us ordered was pretty good, but everything that went with it was pretty bad. It seemed like the chef here wanted to cook what he wanted, but someone told him he had to offer sides. With no passion for the side dishes, they had no flavor. This place is good on paper, but it fails to deliver. I dont think well be coming back.

I have been going to La Provence for many years in Lake Oswego. When I first heard that they were opening a restaurant so close to my home in Tigard, I was both thrilled and a bit afraid-- afraid because I knew that I would be eating there far too often. La Provence is the most consistently delicious and beautiful dining spot, whether you are looking for a relaxing, full feast, or whether you just want to pop in for a quick croissant and coffee. Everything is perfect at La Provence. When I have friends or family visiting from out of town, I know that I can bring them to La Provence, and they will be delighted and impressed. This is an extremely and deservedly popular restaurant, so there may be times when the wait is longer than desired--but it is always well worth the wait, as all wonderful things are in life!
