I have eaten here 3 times now. The first time I got food poisoning from a chicken philly sandwich. The second time I had chicken fingers and they were great but we had to leave early because my sister got sick before we finished eating. Today was the third and final time I will eat at Big Time Diner. The food was over cooked but cold at the same time. I live less than 2 miles from the restaurant but had to pull over twice to vomit before I made it home. I see the parking lot stays full so maybe Im the only one having a problem. Its possible that I am just allergic to something in the kitchen. Unfortunately the more likely explanation is that the food is being pre-cooked and then sitting around until someone places an order. This would explain how food can be burnt and cold at the same time. Either way, its a grease trap that rivals truck stop gut bombs at most any I-65 service ramp. Ill earn my first triple bypass at waffle house.

For me, When I saw Big Time Diner I was overly excited because I was like yes home cooking because Ive been craving a good chicken fried steak and thats what I thought it was came to realise its more of a seafood place. The name is very misleading for me the parking lot is way to small and cramp and the atmosphere felt wrong I was getting all kinds of bad vibes from this place but it was very busy even though I didnt even stay long enough to eat the atmosphere was enough to get me to walk out.

Place is very neat & clean. All the servers that I observed were great. My personal server checked on me several times, including after I finished my meal to see if maybe I wanted some dessert. My meal was very good. My sides were served up in portion bowls along with my one fish filet on a plate. Total for meal was $13.42. The tables are bused & wiped off by someone from the back, so customers do have clean tables. I would recommend & return.

One of my favorite restaurants in Mobile! Been going here since they opened when I was young. Amazing homey food and great service. The blue plate special lets you get an entree and several sides. I highly recommend their chicken tenders and Mac and cheese! And dont leave without getting a milkshake or a malt!

Wonderful food with excellent service, even when busy, and brings you back to the best food the south has to offer. If youre looking for a meal to fill you up this authentic diner has stayed true to its roots and still serves up the classics perfectly. Always get a chocolate malt if youre near.

This is some seriously good Southern Food. The blue plate special is a great deal. Choose 1 meat, 3 veggies, and bread for 9.95. If you have any room left get the peach cobbler. Ask about desserts that are off the menu, like an apple pie shake! The grilled fish is outstanding.

The food was gross. Canned vegetables that were mushy. Instant mashed potatoes. I couldnt figure out if the corn was creamed corn but it was not its normal color at all. The staff is friendly and it looks cool. But Im super posses I spent 15 bucks on stuff Im not going to eat.

Excellent service, and delicious food! I had the chef create a Philly Chicken and my date Diann the fish po boy, with a side of onion rings, and lemonade! Even though we arrived at 8:30pm, our waitress was johnny-on-the-spot, with refills and great tasting food!

Ive had the fried shrimp salad 3 times now. Its great every time with fresh, plump shrimp, fresh greens and a great blue cheese dressing. The wait staff is always friendly and quick to serve. The diner is neat and clean. A great family restaurant

This old timey place was a fun dinner, not so... good? But enjoyed it (dont let them talk you into "the best gumbo you have ever put in your mouth" I think if Campbells made gumbo.... You get where Im going with this

Rustic diner feel! The staff was kind and made you feel at home. Old fashion shakes and you get the refill with it! Food was definitely priced fair and good portions. The good was great :)

Delicious but like most restaurants in town, super dirty. The floors, the ceiling, the bathrooms and Im sure the kitchen, all disgusting. But thats mobile Alabama restaurants.

Big Time is a family favored. Love the Seafood Gumbo, fried green tomatoes and the crab claws. My out-of-town grown children always have to go to Big Time when they come to visit.
