Vegetarian review: There is an Uttar Pradesh touch to the food - just something to point out as a differentiating factor. You get the option of Lucknowi Awadhi entrees. Caution: When this restaurant says spicy, they mean spicy. Consider yourself warned if you would never order spicy in India. The baghara baingan (eggplant) was superb! Amongst the best Ive had in the US. The paneer tikka masala was also very good and they can make it without nuts as an FYI. The paneer kofta appetizer is also very good. The green chutney served with it is real coriander/cilantro and not the watered-down yogurtized garbage typically placed on restaurant tables in the US. The mango lassi was also excellent. Now the stuff that lost it a star: The lachcha parantha and the naan were poor. I believe the chef lack the skill to make good naan because it tasted and felt like one made using a frozen Deep packet (which is also ironically better when done right).

I ate at Paani a few weeks ago and the dinner was ENDLESS. The wait staff took forever to ask for our drink order, get our appetizers, bring our entrees and our bill. It wasnt just my particular impatience - the people on either side of us and across from us were complaining too. My husband and I bonded with our fellow diners while we compared stories about how long we waited for each course. We started to wonder if we were on Candid Camera or one of those TV gameshows where you are rewarded with cash if you dont yell at someone in a trying situation. During the 2.5 hours we were there, not one of the 5 or 6 tables in the restaurant turned over. In a nutshell, the service was beyond slow. As for the food, the menu was limited and my saag paneer was heavily salted. The beautiful dishware, funky music and lovely wall art did not make up for what can only be described as horrendously slow service. Ill never go there again.

The worst ever hospitality you can ever expect from a restaurant.... The waiter serves water saying i dont want to come back to serve you water again so take it or leave it right now and after this incident he has the audacity to come back and be more sarcastic about water.... I think its shameful this place is run by people who dont know the value of water and i dont understand what ethics they are running this so called restaurant because the management ended up supporting the employee actions after the disgusting incident and end up showing certificates of excellent service.... Never visit this so called restaurant because a place which doesnt understand the importance of serving customers with water then it is definitely not worth being visited.... This doesnt even deserve a single star

My wife and I have been coming to Paani for many years now. The food is outstanding, consistent, and flavorful. Each dish is carefully prepared and any special request are always accommodated. There are many vegetarian options for both appetizers and entrees. Our favorites are the saag paneer, aloo gobi, and then either paneer pakoras or aloo chat papri. The restaurant itself is cozy with excellent service. The restaurant owner, Vimi, can be found in the restaurant most nights. She is knowledgable, friendly and clearly takes grade pride and passion in creating the best experience. Weve lived all over the area and have always felt each trip was worth the drive, no matter how long! We highly recommend Paani and all that it has to offer!

Awful food! Got a Lamb/Ghost Biryani and opted for spicy but it was BEYOND spicy - they just added maybe a serving spoon full of red chilli powder to the dish! IT WAS BEYOND SPICY!!! It was not edible and I had to cope with 2 days of stomach cramps just having eaten a few BITES - imagine if I had eaten it all - Im sure Id be at an hospital now! Called the owner Vimi Verma and her response was no one has ever complained - no sense of customer service! I guess it is a typical Indian mentality restaurant, no care for quality and service! I would stay away from here. Try the Soul of India down the road instead...

WORST DINING EXPERIENCE EVER !! The food was good indeed. But the guy serving us treated us with utmost disrespect ! On bringing up the issue to the owner he was more persistent pointing out on the rave reviews the restaurants has and flaunting the certificates rather than hearing us out. These guys definitely dont know how to run a restaurant. Looks like its not just me who has faced this issue at this place. Would never visit this place again nor recommend it to anyone. My suggestion would be to Save your drive and head to a better place where they know how to treat a customer! :)

NOT A KIDS FRIENDLY RESTAURANT. We went there last night with our 4 years old son and 9 years old daughter. We were very surprised there was no kids meal section in the menu. They said kids can eat anything from the menu. We explained that we really like Indian foods, but our kids cant eat anything spicy. Unfortunately, the owner wasnt flexible and despite we asked several times, he finally brought a very spicy dish for our children. He finally mentioned: "this is an Indian restaurant and we only served spicy food" ... meaning dont come back here again with your kids!!!

One of THE best indian food i had in Marlboro,Shrewsbury,Worcester,Southboro and NorthBoro and Frahmingham areas. Be it for the variety, price and above all the service it is really a good place to be. The Lady who owns it very courteous. The food is served hot and its kind of feeling like eating at home on a special occasion. Both Veg and Non veg items were good. its not a like a buffet lunch but much heavier, nicer and tastier one. Must try for people who like indian food. Wish they maintain standards they have set in long run!! By Rajesh

Let me start by saying I am Indian by origin, but American born. My mom cooked Indian food every day of my childhood. I have been to at least thirty Indian restaurants around Boston and this is my favorite. Nice atmosphere, great food, good value, incredible service, and just lovely people working there! My son is about to turn one in a couple months so we havent been going out to eat that much. If we do get a chance, this is at the top of our list. If you dont have time to eat there, this a great place to order food to go!

I went to this place at 5pm. I was not too hungry and was only interested in snacks. I ordered a vegetable platter. After waiting a while, they told me that this is dinner time and they cannot serve only snacks but I have to mandotarily order for dinner as well. So, I had to come out of that place. This is so rude, they basically told me indirectly that I have to order dinner or get out. If anybody going here only for snacks, then I advise not to go. Waste of travel and time, that too I was with kid, its even more frustrating.

We had bad experience with one particular waiter telling me "I will not come back again for more water", and claims this to be funny...!!! He made a face at friend when he said we was still working on his appetizers, this is absolutely not the way to treat your customer! Absolutely no complaints about the food, great ambiance, the lady/owner was really good enquiring and asking for feedback every now and then. Just to quote the waiter who served us, "Will not come back again"
