I had the opportunity to try Smoakie Kitchen yesterday and wanted to share my experience. They have several options, so I chose the 2X2 offering (2 meats and 2 sides) in order to sample more items and see what I might want in the future. A family member went with and did the same; we somewhat shared our orders in order to try things that were on 1 plate but not the other. Although some of the items were not really to my liking, others were fantastic! I will definitely be back. Below are the things we tried and my feelings on them. Fatty Brisket: To die for! It is very fatty, but thats a big part of what keeps brisket so moist and flavorful. The fat was easily trimmed off and the meat remaining was a very substantial portion. It was perfect - no sauce or seasonings needed beyond what it was cooked in. Ribs: Eh... not my favorite. They were fairly tender but I make ribs and found them to be a bit rushed. Parts seemed more dried out and there wasnt much flavor to write home about. They were ok but I wouldnt personally bother with these again when I can get better ribs at home. Hotlinks: Tasty! These were perfectly cooked and spicy but not *too* spicy... you can handle it. Smoakie Beans: Phenomenal! I could eat these by the bucket-full.The beans were prepared in a thin but very flavorful sauce, perfectly cooked. Along with the beans, chunks of I believe every meat they serve were present, adding both flavor and substance. These had a little spice to them (green chilies were used) but it wasnt anything crazy, so probably just about everyone would enjoy them. Mac n Cheese: Not bad! Not my favorite, but they were very cheesy. If anything, these just needed some seasoning and the noodles cooked just a bit less (they were a bit overly soft). Cole Slaw: Good! Ive had some that were a bit better, but this is still one of the better slaws Ive had. It tasted very fresh and well-balanced. I was missing a little brine to it that I love in a few others, but that was the only negative. Barbecue Sauce: Now this I have to say I really didnt like. The basics were present in its composition but it was WAY too sweet for my liking. If you like a very sweet barbecue, this might be for you. Thats just not me though. So - I have a very strong preference for their brisket and smoakie beans. I do want to try their other meats at some point, too, and might see how things like their cornbread and baked beans are, too. However, I will definitely be back - thats not even up for debate. :)

This place SUCKS! If you want over priced , Bland, overcooked meat, and have the money to throw away, then by all means come here... I regret spending the $15 and some change for bad flavors of meat and a very bland cornbread that was dry and crumbled I couldnt even pick it up with my fingers it just fell apart. I actually ordered the 2meats 2sides, and a small drink. It came out to $18.93... so I said no and just got 1 side instead because you have to get 2 meats regardless... My total was $15.87 or something like that... Portions were small. RIDICULOUS.... WONT BE BACK!

If could give no stars we would! The staff was far from friendly and were not helpful being a new customer. The guy behind the counter picked up a cap from the ground he dropped, and he used it instead of throwing it away. We had the smoakie beans and they were good, but bbq beans were undercooked and not flavorful. The cole slaw was at least 3-5 days old...disgusting. The ribs were the only good thing of our first time experience. They literally fell off the bone. We love to support our community, but unfortunately, we will not go back.

OMG this place is nasty, wasted $32 on 2 plates and all of it was nasty from the meats to the sides and even the drinks. meat is old and burnt ,sides have no flavor and are also old. I ordered my food and not even 5 minutes later they bring my food, now first off I know damn well it doesnt take 5 minutes to cook meat everything is just nasty about this place never again will I come over there or recommend anyone to this place

The food was absolutely horrendous. I could taste the liquid smoke in the meat which meant no real smoking. The potatoes in the potato salad were rubbery. Everything seemed like it was more than a day old. The customer service was horibble. The man at the counter acknowledged my husband but anything I said was ignored. I have never had such a bad experience in a restaurant. I hope this place does not stay around very long.

If there were more stars to give; I would have selected more! I am in love with this place!!! The food is amazing but the service is outstanding!!! Every single employee was dressed clean and so polite . They even took the time to ask us how everything was and gracefully appreciated our presence in their restaurant !!! I would recommend this place to everyone !!!

This place was really good, my pulled pork sandwich was really good( I wish it wouldve fell apart more easily but it was so good I didnt mind) my husband had the hot links with the smoked beans and said it was also really good! Costumer service was great. Only thing is its a little pricey, but definitely will be back!

Food portion and quality to price is horrible. Laveen needs more food places but this just doesnt cut it. Their side items are pre-made and sitting in heating pans. Mac n cheese had a thick layer of stiff cheese on top and was barely warm. Pulled pork still had large pieces of peppercorns and too many bones.

Wow! So worth the drive from Avondale! Nice people, amazing food, and great price. The place was very clean! Unlimited BBQ sauce on the tables in a big bottle. The fatty brisket and pulled pork was so good and the cole slaw was very fresh. Im am for sure coming back! 5 stars!

The food was too expensive for it to be below average bbq. The sides are old and flavorless and have been sitting all day. The meat is hard and possibly burnt. The sauce tastes ok but again too expensive for just ok. Its not much better than burger King as a choice for a meal

Its just OK. Brisket tastes more like a roast thats been treated with liquid smoke than actual BBQ. Mac N Cheese is standard. Cornbread tastes like its a normal box mix. Good if youre in the area. Not worth travelling out of your way for.

Overpriced for the taste and quantity!!!! For a 2x2 for two people it is over $40. The beans were undercooked and so were the greens. This is not barbecue but liquid smoke flavored food.

Pulled pork sandwich was fatty. Briskett was under cooked. Ribs smelled funny. Just not good wont be going again, disappointed.
