Wonderful dining experience last night with my food group. Every course was beautifully presented, delicious and creative. Beginning with a very tasty amuse-bouche and a warm, slightly salted roll, I had the grilled baby octopus salad in an embracing mild sauce with perfect small warmed white beans. A friend had a creamy soup that was to die for. Our entrees of smoked trout baked in parchment, beef Bourguignon, and a rib-eye were seasoned and cooked to perfection. The limited dessert menu was nonetheless also a real treat. The chocolate pot de creme was mild yet rich and not overwhelming. The pineapple tarte tatin with buttermilk ice cream was elegant and again, understated but very pleasing. This is a small place with the kitchen open to those seated in the back; as were we. There is a modest energy level but not crazy noisy. I enjoyed watching the work in the small but busy and well-organized kitchen. And our waiter was a superstar. Very attentive without being unctuous. We will all be going back - and soon - before this place becomes deservedly popular.

My absolute favorite restaurant for brunch, and quickly becoming my favorite place in all of Portland. As other reviews have aptly stated, Verdigris is a perfect (and too rare) combination of class without pretention. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly, offering advice when asked for, and truly making you feel welcome. I consider myself a good patron, but the staff at Verdigris makes me feel special. All dishes I have tried Ive both enjoyed and learned from. From their "dont call it deconstructed" Eggs Benedict, the killer ricotta pancakes, the rotational inspired hashes, to literally the best soups I have ever tasted. The technique shown by the chef(s) is evident in every dish. From the simple, to the complex, nothing feels complicated and the execution is stellar. The cocktails are, surprise, exceptionally well done and seasonally changed. My only regret is not going for their dinner menu for so long. Truly a wonderful experience every single time!

Their presentation and flavors were amazing, yet after spending $50 just for my portion I left hungry. (Yes that included one $10 drink) I ordered the trout which was slimed down to about 1/3 of a normal portion of one of my favorite fish. It was sprinkled with 2, 1" potatoes and radishes, which I didnt get. The bread portion was 1. 2" biscuit served on an 8" platter with a large piece of butter. I had to ask for two. When I left I went to Whole Foods deli bar for dinner. To bad as the definitely have the flavors down. Im NOT a big portion eater yet I was expecting dinner.

My family and I went here to celebrate my parents birthday and I was a disappointed to say the least- especially after reading all the rave reviews. While the atmosphere was nice and the staff was very helpful it was a little too trendy/hipster for my taste and the food wasnt good enough to want to put up with the trendy/hipster vibe. For the cost of the plates and the lackluster flavor of the food this place isnt for me.

My wife and I visit Verdigris for brunch often, and each time the food and service are top-notch. The staff is very knowledgable, and they are passionate about their menu. The portions are smaller than a typical restaurant, but my wife and I both appreciate the fact that we leave feeling satisfied, not overstuffed. We highly recommend giving Verdigis a try, and hope you enjoy the experience as much as we have.

My first experience here was fantastic and I plan to go back soon! The service was perfection (very knowledgeable about wine, laid back, attentive), the open kitchen fun to see, cozy/romantic atmosphere, and delicious food. Had three courses and each one was great! The chef pays special attention to the flavors and beautiful plating.

Food, service and atmosphere are top notch. Im pretty well versed in Portland cuisine and the 3 courses for $32 is the best deal for the quality of the food Ive found so far. Plan ahead as you will wait 1-2 hours for a table. Leave your phone # on your reservation, head next door for a great drink at the "Free House" while you wait!

The service was prompt and friendly, and the 60 minute egg was good. The home made brioche in the croque madame had the texture of coffee cake, the hash browns were fried blobs of mashed potato, the coffee was a dark roast and overbrewed, the cocktails were cloyingly sweet.

Ive been for brunch and dinner. The atmosphere is so cozy and personal. The food is a good combination of fresh and rich. I eat out at least once at almost every restaurant that gets a little buzz in Portland, and I think this place should be the next spot people warm to.

My husband and I have had 2 delicious meals here. The service was friendly and knowledgeable. We enjoyed wine with our meal. We shared a trout dish that was excellent and soup that was good. This place is small and feels very intimate. A nice place for a date.

Exceptional service, incredible food, and a cozy and classy (but unpretentious) ambiance. The server brought over a complimentary appetizer from the chef - it was ridiculously delicious. Food and wine had a "French fusion" feel. Perfect for a date night!

A..MA..ZING. Went here for a date night with the Mrs while on vacation. The vegetarian options were great, wine pairing was perfect, and service was exceptional. Relaxed yet sophisticated menu and ambiance is exactly what we love.

Amazing dinner with great service. Our waitress made our whole party cocktails that matched our personalities, and they were delicious. After dinner, the chef came and thanked us for coming. Will go again.

Weve eaten here twice, both times for brunch. The dishes are creative and delicious. The space is small and therefore can be loud. Dont miss the truffle omelet if at all possible.

Food was great, especially the beef short rib. Was here during a heat wave and the restaurant was not air conditioned and that did take away from an otherwise fantastic dinner

Authentic french cuisine. Great pricing for quality food in a small but wonderful restaurant. Love getting a last minute reservation on a weeknight to have the chefs special.

Great food and service, make sure you make a reservation as the restaurant is quite small which is a good thing as they really focus on the quality of the cuisine.

The best brunch i have ever had. 60 min egg & Smithfield ham was incredible. The bacon was thick and cooked perfectly. Just great. A must go to place.

If you want to be treated well when dining, you want to go to Verdigris. Outstanding food but even better service. A great night to indulge and enjoy.
