I was a little bummed out on my last visit to this place. I had been here before for sushi with my wife, two kids, and my in-laws. That was more than a year ago. It was busy, well staffed, clean, bright and the sushi was excellent. But this last time I went there was much different. At about 7pm on a Thursday, my wife, mother in law and I arrived and became one of only two occupied tables in the place. In spite of not being very busy, our drinks took forever (I dont want to be all pretentious, but seriously 12 minutes for two bottles of beer and a diet pepsi). Our order was large and took the normal amount of time to prepare. But our server was doing a really good "Forgetful Jones" imitation (yes, Mr. Forgetful Jones, the memory-deficient cowboy from Sesame Street circa 1980s). "Can we get the wasabi, please?" "Hey, remember that wasabi? Yeah. And I think my mother in law requested a fork. Yeah, thanks." "Oh hi, youre back. Listen, quick question for you: do you guys have forks? Yeah totally, understand but wed like that fork, please. And the additional beer and veggie tempura, remember?" "So, uh, are you guys out of beer? No? Well, can we go ahead and get that one we ordered? And maybe the veggie things to go, please." "So, have you started the veggies from about 15 mins ago? No, then just scratch those, well take our check." Anyway, you get the idea. Server was very nice, but gimmie a break. The sushi tasted ok, but it was clearly a less seasoned sushi chef. In addition to the old "not remembering what the one table in the restaurant ordered" trick, the place was trashed like a party had been there, with most of the other tables in different phases of not quite wiped off or cleared of dishes. And the floor had not been cleaned in a while. Total buzzkill. Because of all the oh sorry I forgot racket, it took about an hour longer than necessary. Wont be going back.

Had better. The waitress messed up the order. We said no mushrooms, my daughter has a mushroom allergy. The waitress brought soup with mushrooms and thought it was okay only because the mushrooms were thinly sliced and there were mushrooms in the vegetables. They have no respect for people with food allergies. The cook on the hibachi grill should be fired. He verbally degraded my daughters size, shes not a perfect size 0 but shes not obese. Shes average in weight. He then assumed my daughter was a mute and degraded her for not talking. My daughter looked like she was either going to cry or punch him with every insult because there was more including a remark of calling my daughter ugly. We got up and left with him calling out to us not to leave. I didnt know it was ever okay to degrade people youre cooking for and then expect them to tip you in the end or stay for the whole meal. We wont ever be back.

While visiting a friend my daughter (6) decided she wanted some sushi. We went here because it was close and had 4 stars. It wasnt 4 star for sure! Very slow and she got our order wrong. I had 3 small kids and myself. I asked for 2 shrimp plates and I was gonna split it myself. I also said I only wanted 2 salads and 2 soups because we werent paying for extra when it wasnt going to get eaten. Also, we substituted noodles instead of rice. She charged me $9 for noodles and share a plate which we only got 2 salads and 2 soup. Very rude waitress and she argued with me. Also the chef the cooked our food was very rude and didnt do anything for the kids. Will now netter not to return here in the future! The food was ok but not anything special.

We ate at the teppanyaki grill. We cannot comment on the sushi or the sushi bar. We wanted yakisoba, but they were completely out of soba noodles. The onion soup and salad was great, the rest of the meal not so much. The steak was way over cooked and the fried rice very bland. My wife keep wondering if they were using instant rice due to the consistancy. There was no lemon used on the shrimp and they were bland. The worst part was that the waitress kept wipping her nose with the back of hand and then handling plates & glasses and serving without washing her hands. This in the middle of flu season! We wont be coming back.

I have always loved sushi. When I was younger, I loved all sushi, I thought it all tasted the same to me. Then I moved to Seattle for 5 years and had "real" sushi. When I came back to KC I thought I would be disappointed in the sushi here, and I was. Until I tried Wasahi. I LOVE THEIR SUSHI. We only get it to go, so I cant judge their service. We only get sushi, so I cant tell you about any other foods. They are terrific though. And mochi balls...yum!! Mango is the best. I like to buy a whole box (6 for $6) and keep them in the freezer.

Terrible service. Absolutely terrible. It used to be good there, but I waited an hour for my order to be taken, then an hour for the food. Then the manager offered a list of excuses for why others got served sooner and better. He offered 15% off for a 2 hour wait... After an arguement and a guilt trip, I got satisfaction (didnt pay a dime), but Im never going back again. Foods good though, cant lie about that.

I used to live in the Northland not far from Wasahi. We used to drive by it all the time on our way to other places but didnt eat there while we lived in KC. We moved to Los Angeles and during one of our visits back to KC our friends told us we HAD to try out this sushi place. I can honestly say this place is just as fun, authentic and high quality as any place youd find in LA.

My girlfriend is from the Phillipines and wanted me to take her to the best Sushi Bar in KCMO. I chose Wasahi because a friend of mine recomended it and she (friend)knows Sushi. So I took my girlfriend to Wasahi. She absolutly loved it!! I am a 3rd timer Sushi eater and it is the best I have ate. She & I were very impressed by the food, chef, and friendly service. John E

Go couple times a month and always get 20 salmon Nigiri for couple years now, and will keep going......thick cuts of fish, fresh and flavorful tasting, good value. Head chef is enthusiastic and adds to the positive experience. The accommodations are nothing special, but dont need marble floors and waterfalls to sit down and enjoy some good sushi........recommend.

The sushi is not bad for a "hole in the wall" sushi place. Would rate it 3.5 stars. I have only eaten at the sushi bar. Itamae are super nice and friendly. I like the Philadelphia, California, spider, shrimp tempura, and 913 rolls. And I must give props to the itamae who stayed late one Saturday night so that my husband could retrieve his cell phone!!

Great food and wonderful service. A hidden gem, tucked in between Subway and Happy Rock Smoke Shop. In addition to the steak house family table there is a sushi bar with classic options as well as their own creations. They have a lunch menu with reduced prices and are open for dinner as well.
