When I arrived, they said it would be 15 minutes to be seated. That is not a big deal and to be expected. Though they called the group of 3 people that got there before us, 10 minutes before us, yet seat us at the same table. We (and the couple that came after) were not informed that the group of 3 had requested a certain chef, that had not even started on his current customers. Nobody had said a thing to us about this. The server was either brand new to hospitality or he just didnt care. Besides disappearing for 20 minutes at a time while only having 2 visible tables to handle (taking forever to bring water, if he could be found), he was very unapologetic and un-informative about multiple things. We werent told there would be an extra long wait for a chef or asked if we would like to be seated elsewhere. A group that came halfway into our wait, sat down at a table next to us and their chef was still out cooking for them before our chef had arrived. Having asked for miso soup, I find that it had 0 tofu and 0 seaweed. I asked the waiter about this, and his response was that they ran out of seaweed. (A sushi restaurant, running out of seaweed) I asked him if they ran out of seaweed, how are they making sushi. To which he responded that they have seaweed for the sushi rolls, but not for the soup. Seaweed is seaweed. They could have taken the nori and cut it up for miso soup. This still didnt give me an answer for the lack of tofu. After over an hour of sitting at the table waiting for the chef, he finally arrives. Nearly 2 hours have passed and we are finally able to eat. Also, never have I had an up charge for fried rice at hibachi, which was dry. Neither a tea or dessert that came with an order was ever brought out. They never even asked about it. I will never return to Benihana.

My husband and I go to Benihanas all the time, typically the Coral Springs location, however we were in Miami and starving so we stopped in.. Worst mistake ever!! To start off with we were sat with the most obnoxious rude group of women ever- (and I use the term women loosely), their crying baby was more pleasurable to listen to then they were.. The water was a complete idiot, he spoke more about what a great server he was than actually serving anything.. He insisted that we would never have to ask for a drink with him as our waiter (because supposedly hes just that darn good *sarcasm*) yet, many times we sat with empty drinks wondering when our super waiter would get his head out of his a** and serve our drinks- needless to say, it didnt happen until we asked.. Now lets move on to the Chef- the food he prepared was amazing but him, not so much.. He spent more of his time arguing with the group of girls who were on the other side of the table- he couldve cared less about the rest of the customers sitting there... Back to the waiter- by the end of the meal I am furious and ready to get out of this place, we ask for our check and the genius that our waiter is manages to completely screw up our check with the people sitting next to us.. they were charged for our drinks, we were charged for their extra rice.. THEN to top it all off it took him an additional 10 minutes to fix the error!! it was BY FAR the worst experience ever and we will NEVER be back to this location again...

An empty restaurant on a Friday night should have been a sign. The host and initial greeter were great. In retrospect, I wish he had cooked for us, since what followed him was close to having the soup Nazi from Seinfeld serve as your chef. Aside from the lack of enthusiasm ( routine salt shaking and utensil rattling) the actual chefs interaction was bit too personal and definitely Alpha male in attitude. After questioning the group about employment and several wise cracks, chef focuses attention on the only two females at the table, indirectly asking other males at the table "if they speak for the group." To add insult to injury, he refers to one of the womens profession as a "scam" (actual profession is in the medical field). Furthermore, seeing kids (as young as 8) mesmerized at the table no attention was paid to them. However, the icing on the cake came when the chef misspoke, as evidenced by all present, and went on to refer to one of the women by he. Woman corrected him and he followed up with..."You missheard me. And if you have gender issues then well... I dont know." Do yourself a favor and avoid. If you must go- avoid "Rigel" (pronounced ree-ghel) as your chef.

My son’s birthday celebration was here this evening. After dinner we waited one half hour for his birthday cake, our other desert orders, etc.; however the restaurant was "backed up real bad”, according to the waiter who had disappeared for the 30 minutes. So we asked for our check when he finally remembered that we existed. Our check was wrong as other diners at our table had 2 food items of ours on their check. After getting change for a large bill to rectify the incorrect billing at the table, I told the manager of our issues around my sons "birthday event", when walking the check to her so we could end the misery. She offered to take my sons photo as we were exiting....really? My son said he hoped this was not an omen of his upcoming new year. You’re on your own here, plan on 3 to 3 1/2 hours if you can afford the time and don’t mind the long stretches of service. Oh yes, the mens room was disgusting for the faint of heart.

Went to Benihana on Miracle Mile last night and ordered the Benihana Marina. It consisted of calamari, shrimp, and scallops. The scallops were very good and the shrimp was good as well. The calamari was the worst I have had anywhere in a long time. The fried rice was excellent and so was the teriyaki beef that the person I was there with ate. The worst part was the service. We were the only people at the table, and the server took 5 minutes after my partner and I finished our drinks and asked us if we wanted more. The food was definitely overpriced for the small portions that they gave you. There are much better options in the Coral Gables area and on Miracle Mile that I would try before ever stepping foot in Benihana again.

Waited so long for a table and just to after being seated I got my soup and my surprise, soup topped with a chopstick wrapper so we called the manager and her only solution was to give us another soup, this lady did not look like a manager at all her blue shirt was so tight that the pink undershirt was pooping out . So I refused because obviously the whole batch was cooked with the wrap inside. I didnt feel like eating nothing coming out of that kitchen. The only thing that saved the night was Carlos the chef. Thank you, oh not for Benihana but for the Haagen Daz next door. CG rating couple.
