The food was fresh, the service was good. Unfortunately, the sushi rice was not great. The special rolls seemed a little too loose, and the presentation was very sloppy. The toppings look like they were thrown on, not placed with purpose. I always order omakase and I was a little disappointed when the chef just picked something off the menu. I like to see creative chefs that will put something new together on the spot. I did receive a free side that he made, and it was pretty good. They do not sell sake! When I asked about it, I was directed to the liquor store in the same strip mall. Since I love cold sake, I was disappointed with this, and settled for green tea. The tea was good. The restaurant is very small. It looks like they might be expanding into the area next door, but the chef didnt speak English very well so it was a bit hard to have a conversation, he was not Japanese... they very rarely are. Overall, it was just an "ok" experience. Out of the three sushi bars I tried in Waterbury, this comes in second place, but its a far second.

I have eaten much sushi over the years...and this cramped and suffocating restaurant, if you can even call it such, has some of the most expensively bad sushi I have ever encountered. Their lunch special is $13 and only coughs up 5 weak pieces of sushi and a tiny side dish. On the other hand, Sushi House on Meriden Road has a lot more to offer at a lot lower prices. Not only that, but they also have a larger, relaxing, and clean atmosphere. A popping lunch specials menu starting at $8.50 with miso soup, house dressing salad, and 3 rolls of sushi (each 6 pieces) completely blows little Singo out of the water. Singo wont be rocking compared to Sushi Houses $20 all you can eat special featuring an array of appetizers, entrees, and, of course, top notch sushi. If youre like me and want to enjoy great sushi without getting ripped off, then Singo is definitely not the place to go.

This is a blink and you miss it kinda place, and really worth keeping your eyes open for. I had the $9.95 lunch special, which includes 5 pieces of sushi and your choice of roll, sweet potato and squash tempura and miso soup. There was more than enough food for 2 people (it was only me eating) and the fish was outstanding. Very fresh. The tempura roll was HUGE-as a matter of fact between the sushi and the roll I couldnt finish. Service was fast and very friendly. While waiting for my food (I walked in and ordered) I glanced around the tiny place and some of the dishes on the other customers tables looked outstanding. Would highly recommend this place.

I take every excuse to come here. Every time I think of Singo Sushi my mouth starts watering and I cant stop it. Theyve got the best sushi rolls Ive ever tasted, and their portions are much bigger than the stingy, dark sushi places in CT. This place is lively and friendly, and the food is creative and packed with flavor. You can pretty much choose anything on the rolls menu and it will be unique and so delicious. I LOVE finishing everything off with a green tea tempura fried ice cream. If you havent tried that, try it.

Ive been all over the place, to many different sushi restaurants. A couple of my friends came up to visit me from NYC, and wanted sushi. Im from California, so my expectations were high. Singo Sushi is probably one of the best sushi places Ive eaten at. The sushi is fresh and amazing!!! and for a town like this, no offense, but Waterbury is kind of a hole, this place really does rocks!!!! I cant wait to go back. Oh, and bring your own wine or beer. :)

We stayed in the area for a vacation and had no idea what to expect. This place had GREAT food especially the Monkey Mushroom and a banana desert that was amazing. I would recommend this place to anyone. It is small and BYOB but there is a liquor store 2 doors away. Next time we are in the area we will definitely go back. If we lived closer this would be our first choice place to eat.

This place is great for originality, quality and value! Its some of the better sushi Ive had! The place is VERY small which I think adds to its charm. A must for those traveling through the region and in need for a quick sushi fix. I was traveling through to Philly and thought I would get off for some dinner. I typed in sushi on my GPS and ended up there! What a surprise!!!!!!

This place has the best sushi in the greater waterbury area. Singo is back and he is a true artist when it comes to his dishes. Just visited today and they have expanded their space. It is now double in size and they did a great job with the renovation. Ingredients are always fresh and you can find some very creative rolls at this place. I always stop in when I visit the area.

Would of gave 5 stars because the food was on point until my girl seen an employee prepare someones takeout, grabbing a handful of salad without gloves on. Wiping off a knife she was using with her hands plus the guy preparing the sushi had gloves on but then jumped on his phone with the gloves on then went back to preparing

Singo used to be good now it is not.I never see singo but came to love the previous chef..hes gone now and the new chef does not know how to prepare sushi or the particular singo dishes.the last sushi I had looked like he tore the pieces of fish for sushi and added shredded cucumbers to a dish that never had them.

Ive eaten Sushi in NYC, California, etc. After eating at from Singo Sushi, Ive looked at all other sushi as if it had betrayed me. This is by far the most amazing sushi ive ever had, and is truly a gem of a place. I love the small DR, It feels home-y. Its all around wonderful.

Creative, colorful, delicious and reasonably priced. Singo has got it "goin on". I crave this sushi when Im away from home and have it twice a week. I usually get the lunch special. Located in an inauspicious location, youre in for a real treat when you stop in.

Creative menu and reasonable prices. Best sushi Ive ever had and Ive had my share. No liquor license, so BYOB or buy from the package store next door. Try the banana tempura dessert. Mmmm. Small place, not fancy, but great character.

The food here is art, plentiful, fresh, and delicious! I have been to many places in major cities and have never had anything quite like this! All the positive reviews here are precisely on the money!
