NEVER EVER RETURNING! HORRIBLE SERVICE! The host/waitresses were extremely rude and unaccommodating! Walked in during lunch time (even asked to make sure it was lunch time) and they then informed me they didnt have a chef for the open and EMPTY hibachi grill. And that there was a 40 minute wait. I came back within 5 minutes and said okay Id wait. They then informed me that I could sit and order food at a normal table (not at a habachi grill and eat) but WHATS THE POINT of going to a habachi restaurant if I cannot sit and watch and eat at the habachi grill? They then went on to inform me that if I waited for the habachi, Id have to pay the dinner price and not lunch. (Chicken and steak at lunch: around $13 and at dinner: around $21) so I would have to pay for them being SHORT STAFFED! ON A SATURDAY!! And they wouldnt consider that I waited 40 minutes for them. They werent even polite or checking with the owner or manager, just straight to my face "thats our restaurants policy" -SO RUDE! I understand thats policy but I was there WILLING TO WAIT before the restaurant shifted into its dinner service to eat lunch. Safe to say I WILL NEVER EVER BE RETURNING to this horrendous establishment with the WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE Ive ever received! AND I WAS GIVEN ATTITUDE FORM the employees. The host/waitress had the worst attitude, youre NOT even greeted with a smile in this restaurant! As a person thats worked the food business before, I was NOT IMPRESSED. Its a shame too because I was checking them out a week early for a 25+ Business lunch with my company next Saturday. But safe to say Im GLAD I LEFT because I found Izumi Habachi Sushi and Steakhouse. THEY ARE AMAZING AND THE EPITOME OF EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE. Go to Izumi, NOT Kyoto!! (Its only 10 minutes away from Kyotos). :)

First impression was not very good as we booked a table and came on time but were asked to wait 10 mins. Why wait? Our table is waiting for us, just sit us and let us relax, enjoy interior and explore menu.... As a reply to answer we got this we need to sit first people that behind you ... Why? Only because they booked a table for earlier time then we, but came later? No, this should not be resolved by my familys comfort. Putting experience 5 here only because next part of our experience was fantastic! Thanks Chef Robert! He is the best Chef and show man! The show was wonderful with knifes, eggs, fire, shrimps catch etc. Kids were happy and even we, adults, were laughing and enjoyed all this cooking process and food was very good. I would recommend Chef Robert only, as also had a chance to see other guys on other tables but feel that Robert is the best!

(We didnt eat at the steak house part). I wouldnt say its the best sushi Ive ever had, but its pretty good for the Mid West. I wasnt happy about the Spicy Tuna roll. Usually this is my husbands favorite, but they minced the tuna and mixed with spices instead of having the piece of tuna with the spicy sauce on top. We tried the Crazy Monkey roll and it was very good!! Service was ok...we didnt see our waitress that much. We tried some new roll I forget the first part but it had the word "Express" in it. It was good, but it would have been better if they didnt make such huge cuts of fish. You could barely fit it in your mouth, then by the time you were done chewing it was so gooey in your mouth that it grossed you out. After cutting it in 1/2 though, it tasted a lot better :) Overall we had a good experience and would come back.

The atmosphere represented an exclusive restaurant once we were inside even though it is placed in a mall setting. We were greeted at the door with a menu for the sushi bar which Ive not tried before, but figured why not. The sushi was tasty and decided I will try this again in the future. Our table at the grill was ready so we moved over to get ready for the main meal. The staff are very helpful, courteous and somewhat entertaining. The combination I chose was steak and shrimp and very delicious. Too much food, so we took a box home for later. The meal and the experience was enjoyable and we plan to go back soon. This restaurant is very kid friendly as they made accommodations for our 2 young grand daughters for dining with us.

Kyoto has quickly become one of my all-time favorite Japanese restaurants in the KC area. The staff are friendly, always willing to help, and ensure that my visit is efficient, quick and enjoyable. I have grown to favor fried rice as one of my favorite foods, and am very picky about where I order it. Thankfully Kyoto has raised the bar for me with their fried rice, as well as every single dish I have eaten here. Dont forget... their yumyum sauce is absolutely to die for !! If you havent been in for a visit, Kyoto should be your next stop for a weekend night out. If youve been lucky enough to check them out, make sure you order their fried rice with yumyum sauce ASAP!

Went to Kyoto last night and was terribly disappointed. We were rushed through in one hours time. Soup was brought to us before we had even sat down. The dessert was brought as soon as the chef had finished his performance/cooking, and to go boxes were brought to the table side immediately afterwards. My son had his plate taken away from him twice while he was still eating. I have had better service at McDonalds. The meal was poorly prepared - undercooked rice, overcooked fish and meat. CHef was clearly new as he hadnt gotten his tricks down. Sushi is okay - not great, not bad, but the worst part was being herded in and out like cattle. Will not go back

I cannot count the number of times Ive eaten at a Hibachi restaurant. It take a fair amount to impress me now. Our teppanyaki chef was great. Worked really well with the kids at the table. When it came to chucking shrimp, he start from the grill but switched to the grill behind him when he saw how well the kids did. And then as a crazy upgrade, he sent the kids away from the table, and chucked the shrimp 10 feet through the air. Great way to step it up. If you are new to Hibachi, its totally acceptable to tip your teppanyaki chef if he (or she?) has really impressed you.

The cook was Amazing!!!! The food was mediocre. The salad was dressed with a watered down ginger dressing. Appetizers were baked mussels, these may have tasted better had they not been nearly room temperature. The vegetable selection was very minimal as Im used to more variety at other Japanese steak houses. The shrimp appetizer consisted of only 3 shrimp. The portions were very good but unfortunately the steak was under seasoned as was the fried rice. Again the service was EXCEPTIONAL!!! This was my first and last time having hibachi at this restaurant.

There was an unpleasant odor (similar to a carpet soaked with animal urine) when we went at lunch time. The salad was not good and the "ranch" dressing was the consistency of water. The fried rice (upcharge of $2.50) was tasteless, as were the vegetables and steak. The sauce was not great, and the brown kind had a somewhat acidic bite to it that was wholly disagreeable. On the whole, instead of being the special lunch treat we were expecting, it was completely unsatisfying and a waste of money. Very disappointing.
