Ive been to Tatsumaki a number of times and as a newer restasuruant, it is easy to see they are always striving to get better. Most notably the addition of alcoholic beverages. There are also glass bottles of sparkling water that contain a loose marble that somehow got through the lip of the bottle but cant come out! Almost as impressive as a ship in a bottle. The atmosphere is unique with wooden stools for seats at an elevated table, cat decor, flat screens and an anime mural. The black forks that are found at the table inside a drawer do not have prongs on them making them quite useless. However upon request, a standard, more reliable, silver fork is presented. The staff are awesome. Super friendly and alert and always there to greet you, as well as bid you farewell. Now there was one food related issue that I encountered on my most recent visit. Upon asking for sushi, they informed me that the sushi chef was not there that day. It struck me as it might strike you that upon ordering a Mc.Double at McDonalds they told you that the Mc.Double chef wasnt there today. Like going to a taco truck and then not having tacos. Alas. I ordered the spicy Tantan Ramen and it was delicious. So despite the minor inconvenience of not having sushi, I will continue to have my taste buds pleasured by Tatsumaki.

The waitstaff was great! The issue i had was they brought me ramen that i didnt order. When i sent it back, the manager came out and told me it was what i ordered. (veggie miso ramen) even though it was lacking toppings that the veggie ramen came with and had additional items not listed with that ramen. He insisted that it was what i ordered and they just added extra veggies and asked if i wanted it back, so i took it and was just going to eat it, as i hate sending things back. When the waitress brought it back we were talking about the broth and why it didnt look right. She told me that the miso ramen was actually made with pork broth, which isnt stated on the menu. I dont consume animal products, which is a reason i chose a miso base, only to find out it actually consisted of pork. When i referenced the menu again, i found the ramen that they brought me the first time. It was not what i ordered and they tried to play it off like it was. I wish they would have just owned up to the mistake instead of trying to play it off like i was the one who was wrong.

I went on a Thursday night, with just one other person. It was quite busy, but there wasnt a wait for a table. We were seated immediately at the bar. This is where any type of positive experience ended. We waited for about 5 minutes until we were asked what we would like to drink. We were given our waters, but that was the end of any acknowledgement of our presence. Multiple wait staff crossed our paths, but zero service. Despite the fact that our menus were closed and we were obviously ready to order, our orders werent taken in the nearly 30 minutes we waited. At that point, after waiting for half an hour without a single person letting us know that they were busy, or running behind, or would be with us shortly, we left the restaurant. Really bummed, because I was excited to try a new ramen place, but if you cant even acknowledge a willing, paying customer, then I have a hard time believing that you want our business.

Food still not dialed in. Ingredients other than the noodles are still cold from refrigeration on arrival and even still after being in my bowl for more than 5mins. When you order additional Chashu it costs $2.50 but they only put a single thin slice of still barely above refrigerator cold meat in my bowl. Last trip it was 3 generous slices. First trip we loved the miso Ramen broth but the pork broth was flavorless. This time they dropped that broth and instead use the same pork broth as with the non-miso soups but with a little (almost undetectable) amount of miso paste in it. Each time we come here the food and service is different. Will upgrade review as this place dials in their product. It is a Ramen place in Oklahoma, so Im happy they are here. Just wish it was at least as good as what Ive come to expect as a basic experience at a mom-n-pop pho place.

I am not usually one to go out to eat alone, but this is the perfect spot for a fantastic meal alone! There are long tables for large groups as well, and a fun experience for any size group. The ramen is absolutely delicious! Im a huge fan of the chasu bao and black sesame mochi. The staff is incredibly nice, competent, and accommodating. The atmosphere and overall design is warm and attractive. Tatsumaki is my favorite restaurant in Norman now! I recommend it to everyone I come across.

Best Ramen I ever had in Oklahoma and Texas. Surprised by their "Ribeye Steak Ramen with Tonkotsu soup. Lol, it is very delicious. $15 is a really good price just for the 10+oz ribeye steak it self. Cooked just right, will go back soon again. FYI, owner says they will get fountain drink machine from Coke Cola next week or two, but who cares about the soda is canned or fountain, drink more soup not soda! They have couple big screen TVs broadcasting games all day, good for fans hanging out.

We found this restaurant during our familys road trip, and my parents love the flavor that they made. The waiter told us this noodle house was just grand open one month ago, and they always keep updating their monthly special menus. Unfortunately, we didnt try that. The waiting time is a little bit long, but its grand open, not a big deal. And I heard that most of the workers here are the students of OU, I really like talk with them. Love this place.

I ordered the Spicy Tantan Ramen and I got what seemed like angel hair pasta that was mushy and sticking together. Order sum Sushi as well presentation was the same as it tasted not very good. As bad as this sounds I get better Sushi at Crest Food and Sams Club. My wife and son did not like their food either. I live within a quarter mile from Tatsurmaki and was waiting for it to open but after this experience I will not be back.

Decent food. Not great options for vegetarians (the veggie miso ramen had pork in the broth). Main complaint was the staff cleaning around us (sweeping and removing things from tables) while we were eating a whole 1.5 hours before they close. Wasnt like we snuck in at 9:45, we got there at 8:15 and it felt like they were closing.

Drove by to Norman while way back to Texas, didnt know Norman has such a genuine Japanese ramen shop now, and this close to OU campus. We ordered spicy Tan tan and the steak ramen, and also calamari and the chasu bun, everything just cooked perfectly as we can expected. We will go back next time when we close to the town

Waiting so long for this first Ramen shop in Norman, went there 3 days in a row, and their food and environment definitely worth the waiting. Staff are super friendly, Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen is the best. Best of all, we can see this hot and new place is keep improving every day, highly recommended.
