Downtown Emmitsburg hosts the Ott House, which we arrived at after visiting nearby Catoctin Mountain National Park. When we entered we were not greeted or acknowledged, so we sat ourselves (HINT: maybe a sign that says "please seat yourself" would help). After about 15 minutes we went up to the bar and asked for menus, after that a waitress came up to take our order. Their menu has some decent average/cheaper priced food. They have typical pub food: burgers, wings, fries, soups, salads, etc ranging in price from 4 - 7 dollars. Also check out the Seafood Favorites (shrimp, oysters, crab, tuna melt, etc).Ordered the Emmitsburger, which is a burger with bacon, mushrooms, cheddar cheese & gravy (4.25) and the Mushroom Swiss burger (4.25). The bar itself is older, having been in operation about 40+ years. The decor looks like it hasnt been updated since then, but not to worry, it adds character. It had a few tables, booths and 2 pool tables. Dimly lit. Lots of firefighter decorations & patches from towns all across the country. Worth a stop if youre in this part of Maryland.

My first clue should have been when I asked someone that lives in Emmitsburg about it and he questioned why wed go there. I havent had a burger that bad in many years. Two of us ordered the mushroom and Swiss and we both disliked it...bland flavorless meat, very weak and almost no gravy, served on a generic elementary school bun. I asked for A1 and it was the only thing that made it edible. The other people in our group said the MD crab was decent but nothing to write home about. Although I cant comment on the taste of the other meals, every other meal I saw delivered to the tables around us was presented like avg generic bar food (which has its place but this is sit down dinner). Heard from another local that the wings are ok. If you go for food Id keep your expectations low. On the plus side the service was friendly and the location is a unique building.

We make the run from DC to Allentown PA via US-15 all the time. Got tired of the fast food options in Thurmont and Dillsburg. Ott House is a great alternative for us (mom, dad and 3-year old). Sunday evening was casual, friendly and not crowded. Food was simple, straightforward, and satisfying. PRICES ARE EXCELLENT. A childrens menu with honest-to-goodness small portions and small prices. Buffalo chicken sandwich is nice and spicy. Gravy fries hit the spot! Bathrooms rough around the edges but not a deal breaker for travelers.

Great cheap food. *This is a firemans bar*, to describe it any other way doesnt do it justice. If youre a firefighter or a local, youll for right in. Anyone else is welcome, too, but if you show up in ski gear from Liberty they probably wont talk to you. Theyve got pool tables and decent food at unbelievable prices. Beer selection is mediocre, but not bad considering where it is. They sometimes do live music, but most of the time its pretty quiet. Most of the food is fried, but its all pretty good.

BEST MILD WINGS, hands down. My husband and I have been absolutely hooked on the Ott House, since some friends took us over for a visit. Their mild chicken wings are the best Ive ever had (fresh, delicious, and crispy) and their waffle fries are quite delicious as well (especially dipped in the wing sauce!). Also - on Monday evenings (starting at 5pm), they have 1/2 priced wings. =)

Extremely slow service, took 10 minutes to get asked for drinks and then an additional half hour to be asked if we wanted food. Waitress acted as if we were a bother. We left without ordering anything. The place was dead with only 3 tables occupied and one other couple at the bar, and three employees behind the bar. Was no excuse for such terrible service.

Had business lunch so didnt try their beer, but the food is good. Onion rings are thick well fried and generous. They have some interesting chicken sandwiches and burgers that were good, a nice change from chain fare. Would like to try try their fries with cheese and gravy and their Otts mustard next time.

Excellent wings. Crispy and succulent. I keep meaning to try other items on the menu, but I always seem to get taken in by their amazing wings and waffle fries. My wife and I routinely drive an hour each way to come here for dinner and a few games of pool.

The go-to bar for Mount St. Marys students and the only one. Its a shame there arent more options in this town stuck in time but its universally loved. Large space, decent bar food, and a lively night life. Definitely worth an visit of you are in town!

Try the Emitsburger, absolutely delicious! The staff is friendly and quick with refills and food orders. The atmosphere is relaxed. Lots of cool patches on the walls/bar, they may have all the patches. Would definitely recommend and will be back again!

An institution in itself for the fire services leaders. Lots of networking, drinking, eating, and all around good times happen here. Its a hangout for locals as well as everyone at the Emergency Management campus. Great cheap beers and food.

Pub style menu. Club sandwich or hot (turkey or roast beef) with gravy and fries are always a good choice. Crab cakes, burgers, fried shrimp, onion rings, and scallops are also very good. Good sized alcohol menu as well with bar seating.

My business associate indicated his grilled cheese with bacon was SPECTACULAR! And he loved the chocolate milk! Our server, Lindsay, was a very good sport, particularly when we reminded her it was National Chocolate Milk Day!

Friendly staff, quick service, kinda had an older clientele (at least on a Sat lunchtime), food was ok. Had the hot turkey, gravy left a lot to be desired. Friends said the Ott Burger was good.

Service is always great. It would be 5 stars if it was not for those HORRIBLE pickle chips! I love pickles, but they switched to a TERRIBLE inedible pickle chip. Bring back the good ones!!!
