We recently went here for dim sum. Unfortunately their menu was extremely limited and did not contain any standard menu items, and they didnt do off menu items (not for us anyways). Despite the lacking menu we proceeded to order some new items and enjoy our meal. The food was decent, a little on the bland side. The portions were disappointing for the price. However, all of these things are dwarfed by the service we received. Not only were we the first ones to be seated and order but, were also the last to receive our food. We asked for five dishes and got four. The fifth dish we saw come out of the kitchen on the way to our table when the waitress took a detour and gave it to another family. Because the eating area was so small we could clearly hear them say that they hadnt ordered it. The waitresses response was its fine. We asked for condiments to have for the bland food, unfortunately we only had them at the table for about ten minutes before the waitress snatched them off our table and gave them to someone else. Overall I would not recommend going to this establishment. Ever. Dont try it, it isnt worth it. Especially if you arent clearly Asian. This waitress was one of the most blatantly racist people I have met working in the food service industry. All the other familys were comprised of asians. I am Asian my gf is white. The lady barely spoke to me and would not even look at my gf. I assume this is why the bad service. I will definitely not be going back.

This restaurant used to be a Chinese takeout place. But since the new owner took over back in August 2013, she added family style dinning area in the back, and now it is regularly patroned by Chinese customers. I discovered this restaurant while driving by, and saw Chinese words for "Shanghai Dim Sum". Since then Ive becoming a regular customer, eating there once to twice a week. They serve well made and inexpensive Shanghai dim sum, in additional to Taiwanese dim sum, which you dont normally get in this neighborhood. The Taiwanese dim sum items are not on the menu, but written in Chinese posted on the wall. And yes, they serve tasty XLB (pork soup dumplings) for you foodies out there! Recently theyve added authentic Chinese lunch menu, where you order 3 entrees and one large soup for total of $21 + tax. It is enough to treat a family of 3 or 4 to a nice Chinese meal. Going there over the weekend for lunch can be tricky, if you want to be seated. The place is packed by noon! But the restaurant opens at 10 am for Chinese brunch, so I would be there before 11 am.

I ordered Crispy beef, and a Hunan Shrimp. As i was eating this food, i found Maggots. I called, and the first guy told me i had the wrong number. Attempted second time, a women told me she could replace food. We got disconnected, and on the third try i spoke to a young man with clear english that assisted me respectfully. He gave me a refund, but in the background i heard the lady screaming tell him never call back again. I will never eat here again, MAGGOTS IN THE FOOD, THAT IS SO NOT SANITARY. I TOOK PICTURES AND OFFERED TO SEND THEM VIA EMAIL. THE LADY OF THE STORE REFUSED TO ACCEPT. I JUST HOPE MY WIFE WHO IS BREASTFEEDIN OR MY 1 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER WHO WAS EATING THE RICE DID NOT INGEST ANY. I WILL NEVER ORDER HERE AGAIN, BUT FOR SURE FORWARD TO HEALTH SERVICES. THIS IS NOT OVER. NOBODY DESERVES TO BE FED FOOD WITH ANY KIND OF INSECTS, OR PARASITIC LARVAS IN IT.

The owner was absolutely in a BAD mood. I called for an order and came for pick up. The owner charged me $3 extra from menu. I was surprised but gave her my credit card without saying anything. I thought maybe they increased the price so I picked up their take out menu to check for price. In the meanwhile the owner said she charged wrong $$. I immediately joked "aha, I thought the price was increased!" All I got was a total silence. The owner put $3 dollars on the counter with her long face and turn her back on me without looking at me or saying anything. I quietly picked up $3 and order, then left the restaurant. I will never come back again.

The waiter at this place is so attentive and incredibly friendly! Hes always making sure we have enough water (and its bottled water too! Not just tap) and enough rice. The food is excellent for the most part. Some of their dim sum, like their pork buns, arent the tastiest but their main dishes have almost always been beyond delicious. Some tips: their Shanghai style braised gluten tofu is the best best best best Ive ever had, and I cant rave about it enough but stay away from their stir fried rice cakes (theyre a bit bland and dry).

Ive had great experiences with this place. They are very friendly, generally fast delivery, and truly EXCELLENT Chinese food. Ive had take-out from almost every place in Gaithersburg and Germantown and House of Fortune is definitely one of the best. Very good selection of food and good sized portions for their prices. They are also willing to accommodate any details to your order. I definitely recommend them!

Known for carry out, but there is also a dining room in the rear. I had the pork soup dumplings (very good), and the white fish in chili soup (superb). The staff was very friendly and the prices were decent. My soup bowl was large enough to feed an entire family, and bountiful in flavor and fish fillets (see pictures). I would definitely come again.

Service was very bad. When we ordered food the old lady tried to stop us from ordering more saying it was enough for 2 people. We are the ones eating not you. Seems like she just didnt want to do work. I know she is very old but why have your mother work as a server if she can barely walk. Food is decent but not worth it for the bad service.

Ordered House of Fortune delivery for the first time today after searching for decent Chinese food in the area for 4 years. We ordered a variety of appetizers and meals. All items exceeded our expectations. Food was not amazing, but far, far, far better than other local Chinese places. Will certainly order again.

If you are white, expect to be treated like an idiot. All the Asian customers were served before us even though we arrived first. We were told what on the menu we could eat and then our condiments were taken from us the second an Asian couple came in. Rude, inconsiderate people. I will never come here again.

Fast service, however the quality of food is trash as to where my entire order went because it was THE WORST! My order was soggy. Idk what the hell one dish was but it definitely wasnt nobodys chow mein. I think the only thing I did half enjoy were the egg rolls. Almost $30 for two egg rolls. Never again.
