For several years now, Wellsboro has been either a destination point or an overnight stopover. We try to visit at least once a year, particularly in the Fall (Rte 15 from 80 is very scenic). The town and all roads in and out provide scenes depicting the beauty of Pennsylvania; a slice of Americana. We make it a point to visit the Steakhouse on every visit. It too represents a little slice of what one might envision to be "back-home" Americana. We have always been welcomed by the owners, Geoff and Chris, as well as the servers. The quality of the food is good and it is fairly priced. The atmosphere is welcoming and cozy. One can readily discern that it has not changed in years, and that suites my wife and I just fine. This restaurant has the comforting feel of your favorite jeans. After a day on the road, it feels good to belly-up to the quaint bar for one of Geoffs excellent Manhattans and catch up some. Is the Steakhouse a Ruths Chris? No. If you are expecting something "fancy", this is not the place to go. This is an unpretentious place of solidly good comforting food; well made drinks; and excellent friendly service. Lastly, if you have an exceptionally sweet sweet-tooth, I heartily recommend Chriss coconut pie. And Geoffs meatloaf is the definition of comfort food. Well be back.

My wife & I had a center cut steak, and she had a slice of pie. One of the steaks was overcooked, neither of them had any spices on them and were very bland. The crust on the pie the worst she ever had it was hard and nasty. I had a side salad, it had mixed greens, nothing else except for 1 grape tomato cut in half, no cheese, or other vegetables. My wife ordered a baked sweet potato, it was about 5:30 and they did not have any, the place was not very busy. They offered mashed sweet potatoes instead (They are not even on the menu, I am guessing leftovers from the holiday weekend). There is a grocery store less that 1/10 mile away, but evidently there customers are not important to them. The decor was worse than the food if that is possible. It was overpriced also. If you have taste buds avoid this place. The only good reviews must be from the owners or employees!

Two of us went here with high hopes. Waitress came to the table, before we even had a chance to order drinks, walks away only to return 10 min later. Get first course, wifes Cole slaw is horrible! Waitress doesnt bother asking why dish is put back with two bites eaten. Main course, me, veal parm, literally left in deep fryer way too long, have to saw through it with knife. Wife, sirloin steak, takes first bite says it tastes like liver! I tried and had to agree, and this from a steak house. The topper was the waitress never came back once to check our drinks or ask how our food was! Wont go back, Ill warn anyone who listens to go elsewhere.

Celebrated my daughters 28th. birthday there last night and from the minute the front door opened it was a fantastic experience. The owners greeted us and we were taken right to our table to be seated. Our waitress was as good as any Ive ever had and took care of us during our entire meal leaving no room for not being satisfied. The food itself was over the top and we were both very glad we chose the Steak House for her celebration. To top it off they brought my daughter a strawberry shortcake that was out of this world, the best either one of us has ever had. Thank you guys for a great time.

I have been going to the Steakhouse since 2008, I have always had an excellent experience. The owners (Husband and Wife) and the staff have been nothing short of gracious and attentive to my needs and the people who have come with me and I am not talking about 4 people, I normally bring 20 to 30 people with me for dinner. From appetizer to main course and dessert, I have always come away satisfied. My tequila sunrise is always spot on and if I have a beer it has always been cold and refreshing. Wellsboro is a great little town and the Steakhouse completes the experience for me.

We came to wellsboro steak house to eat.No sign or hostess at door.Seen open table so we sat down.We sat 10 minutes a waitress told us they would be right back. Then a different lady suppose to be hostess came to our table and told us we would have to get up and wait to be seated. This is second time we have tried to eat here with a rude behavior. As we told her we would leave and there should be a person at door at all times she followed us out the door still jacking her jaws.Dont waist your time here.Theres alot better places to eat in wellsboro.Bill and Michele Bolt.

Ate there over Labor Day weekend and food and service were very good. My wife had the filet tips and I had the prime rib. Both were cooked to order. The prime rib was one of the best Ive had. I got the baked sweet potato and it came with a side of brown sugar. People without reservations were getting upset since it was about a 45 minute wait for a table. Its not the most modern place but it was clean. Prices were a little high but that is to be expected in a tourist town.

Wife: Prime Rib special, it was *huge* and cooked to perfection, took it home and had 2 more meals with it. Me: CrabCake special, you get 2 large (cut a Softball in half size each) pure meat, no filler, could only eat 1 at this seating. As good as anything Ive had in Baltimore or Ocean City MD. Staff was extremely friendly, chatty, attentive and accommodating.

Wife Had chicken with mushrooms and gravy. Very bad roiling gas that night. I had her leftovers next day and had same reaction. Also had the lamb and asked for it medium but was serveredi rare and raw next to bone. All tasted good but would rather have meat the way I want and no gas. Prices are a little high as well.

Sent my shrimp salad back b/c while the shrimp were fine, the salad was limp and vapid. The waitress expressed my disappointment but the owner told her to tell me that he sampled it and it was fine. While he and l spoke and he agreed to discount the entre, he only took off $3 for a $23 dollar meal.

Every visit to the Steak House has been the same: excellent service and great food. Because they serve only dinner, they know how to do it right and they do it right every single time. My husband and I live in Wellsboro and have tried every restaurant in the area. . .this is our favorite!

EXTREMELY overpriced for the quality of the food. They were the only place open so of course they can get away with it. Also very bad staff and food. Anyone who has ever left a good review has obviously never been out of this small town. Subway would have been a better bet.
