Have been to this restaurant about 8-9 times. Tonight was the worst. Had it been our first experience, we would not be returning. However, I do know they can have better nights, and the food is consistently good - its the service that is generally the variable. Went with a party of 6 hungry college kids tonight. Wasnt a cheap bill - almost $200, and thats with half price Sushi and Saki. Server was absolutely horrible. Got our orders wrong, and instead of bringing fresh plates, simply moved half eaten orders from my husband to one of the boys. Never reviewed what Sushi items were what. Asked 3 times for spicy mayo before we got any. The hibachi grill server was great - except he had all the wrong orders. 3 of us ordered steak and shrimp and were given chicken. Eventually sorted out, but by then half the food was cold. Because our server disappeared after dropping off the Sushi, I had to go to the hostess to ask for some water and a glass of wine for someone in our party. She could not have been more indifferent. 5 minutes later, I passed her and said "I guess Ill go to the bar myself". If anyone had looked like a manager, I would have spoken to them at the time. As it was, I left a 10% tip (we are usually very generous especially when we have a large group) and wrote a note on the receipt. Servings are good sized, and its a great place for the college crowd. If you expect any degree of good service, you should go elsewhere.

We usually love coming here but dealing with the "wait time" for all you can eat sushi has become increasingly annoying. You walk in and see EVERY table behind the first wall, no visible customers in the back room and the ENTIRE bar open with not one seat taken but, we are told it will be a 30 minute wait? What? So we ask why.. and apparently the servers can only handle a couple hibachi tables.... so we have to wait for a hibachi table to finish before we can eat sushi in a completely separate part of the restaurant... their servers either need to be better trained or the business needs to understand taking an order and refilling drinks is pretty easy so adding a table where they are actually a server shouldnt be that difficult. If I were the business owner and knew I was making people wait 30 minutes when I had empty tables Id be furious. Hiro on the other hand maxes out their seating and still provides great service. Sucks okami really like your sushi and the all you can eat deal. Youd make more money with a more capable staff.

My wife and I went to lunch at Okami, after a beautiful day at Kure Beach, and it was literally the worse dining experience we have ever had. We walked in, overlooking a dining room full of empty tables, and were told we had to wait because we wanted a private table and they were only sitting people for the Hibachi grill tables. It is very frustrating to see three couples who enter after you to be seated while you are still standing in the hallway. When we finally were seated it became even worse. We both ordered the All-You-Can eat sushi menu and then were basically ignored throughout the entire evening. Our waitress forgot to put orders in for us and there were many times we just stared at each other waiting for food to be brought to the table. We asked to speak to to the manager and all she would say was "Im sorry, I will take care of it" but even after that, we had to speak to two separate waitresses and the sushi bar staff to get service. Save your money folks and go to a place who respects their customers.

We have been here several times and its always been very good but our most recent visit was awful. I took both of my grown children and their spouses and we arrived at 5 pm to get the early bird special. It happened to be a prom night in town but we told them we would wait. They told us it was a 35 min wait. No problem but 35 mins turned into an hour and 45 mins. They never one time checked with us. We asked a lot about the time and were told with an attitude it would be when they could get us seated. The host staff is HORRIBLE!!!!! The servers and cooks are awesome but the Host at the front rolled her eyes and all but a asked us to leave!!! We asked for a high chair and she told us to get it ourselves. I only stayed and ate to make her mad! She wanted us to leave! Never again will we go back! I will make sure everyone knows never to eat at Okami In Wilmington!!

Tonight my boyfriend and I came to eat for an early Valentines Day dinner. We both ordered off the All You Can Eat Sushi menu. Started off with delicious appetizers. Once we received our first sushi order, and I had 3 pieces, I found a long hair entwined within one of my rolls. I explained to our waitress the situation and she removed my plate. My boyfriend continued on eating his sushi with contentment. I basically sat and waited with an unfortunate awkwardness. The waitress apologized. I normally wouldnt be disrupted by something so miniscule, but it left me slightly nauseated. I was more upset a manager didnt not come to rectify the situation. If ever there is an establishment based issue, comfort may be found with an upper management assessment. This did not happen. We left and will not visit again.

Server was good, sushi was mediocre at best and thats about it...but then again I dont expect much from Wilmington in the culinary department... sorry just the way it is. We ordered all you can eat sushi and then was told10 minutes later that the all you can eat sushi ends in 10 minutes. Asked us what we wanted to eat and then proceed to vacuum all around us and close down even though they were supposed to be open for another hour. On top of that they told us that we couldnt take what we didnt eat home that we would be charged for it. Sooooooooo were supposed to eat while the stink of bleach water is going up our noses and a vacuum is right next to us the whole time...so we took our sushi anyway... What a crap experience. Go somewhere else and actually enjoy your meal

We used to come here alot to have the all you can eat sushi for lunch, it used to be $9.99 but we just ate there 12/16/16 and the price went up to 11.99 and the service was horrible the young lady was rude when asking for more of something, and she brought a few things we did not order when I said " we did not order this" several times she argued with that we did.I would recommend Blue Asia the price is maybe $1 more but way better service and very clean and upscale, they also offer the all you can sushi for lunch on Saturdays and Sundays the extra $1 is more than worth it! The owner at Okami must not care about customer service, the waitress did argue with me more than a few times, "the customer is always right" is a good thing to teach your staff
