Genki is amazing! I loved every second being here. The staff where fantastic, the food was delicious, and the atmosphere was wonderful. My girlfriend, Ginger and I loved our meals. We started off with sushi, and my God, was this sushi the best we ever had. It was fantastic. Then we had our meals, Ginger had the teriyaki chicken and I had the udon Noodles. Both were amazing. I couldnt believe how good the food was. And everything was made in house. Their soy sauce is so good. Less sodium then the store bought less sodium. We were on vacation, so the only bad thing is that we live 3 and a half hours away. But that wont stop us from visiting. This is, by far, the best Japanese and Sushi restaurant I have ever had. I will even go to say it is the best in North Carolina. If you pass this place up to go somewhere else, you will regret it. Hello from Charlotte, NC!!!

Definitely the best bang-for-your-buck sushi around. All the rolls Ive ever had here have been truly delicious and VERY consistent as they have only one sushi chef. I usually get 3 rolls total for my wife and I to split and its less than $15 out the door, thats exceptionally cheap in my opinion. The only sort of drawback for me is they dont have some of your "fancier" type rolls that Bento Box or Nikkis have. Of course those "fancy" rolls are usually $13 or $14 for ONE roll so its not all bad that Genki keeps it cheap and simple, but tasty! Once time when I got carry out they took a little longer than usual and gave me two free spring rolls, great people! FYI, theyre closed Mondays! I know because I ALWAYS get sushi cravings on Mondays haha.

An amazing, authentic Japanese restaurant that serves comfort food (katsu don, udon soup) and incredibly fresh sashimi. Dont come here if you want your sushi cooked or want a giant roll smothered in mayonnaise; those are tasty but other restaurants cater more to that style. Ask the chef what he recommends and get a little adventurous with your decisions. Personally, I love the scallop, squid and salmon sashimi. The miso marinated white fish was very good and tender, but it would have been even better on rice. Once when we went there was a baby octopus salad social, which was delicious. The tuna tataki is also great.

Im legitimately baffled at the star rating of Genki. Please, Wilmington tourists (and locals), dont come here. Their sushi is sub-par, along with the ambiance. Their website does not reflect their actual restaurant whatsoever - its not nice, pretty, or very clean. Its a small restaurant that serves sushi that is close to the right price, however, youll mainly be eating a handful of rice with each piece of sushi rather than the yummy innards. (Their rolls are thick, but lack substance.) And quite honestly, their sashimi isnt very fresh.

On vacation and selected this place based upon the wonderful reviews. We were seated immediately even without a reservation. Wait staff is spectacular. We were asked if we needed anything by several people. The food was good. They have a great selection of specialty items that are lacking from our restaurants back home. My only complaint is an OCD cleanliness/ pleasing aesthetics area of improvement with the air intake vents above us they were very covered with dust and once I spotted that it caught my eye every time I looked up.

How those fires burned that are no longer, how the weather worsened, how the shadow of the seagull vanished without a trace. Was it the end of a season, the end of a life? Was it so long ago it seems it might never have been? What is it in us that lives in the past and longs for the future, or lives in the future and longs for the past? And what does it matter when light enters the room where a child sleeps and the waking mother, opening her eyes, wishes more than anything to be unwakened by what she cannot name?

I have only ordered take out from here, but the management was wonderful! They burnt one of the things I ordered and when I arrived she said that they had burned it, but they were making another now and I could have both free of charge. She showed me the burnt item and it was just a bit overdone but she was so wonderful to want to give me a perfect order. The burnt item was still really good. This restaurant is probably one of the cheapest, if not the cheapest, sushi place in Wilmington and is DELICIOUS.

The staff at Genki is great! They are very warm and friendly, and take great care of their patrons. Lsat night, a guest was asking about a movie the owner had displayed, and she offered to let the guest take it home to watch! The food is traditional Japanese style, just like my mother makes it! I eat here when Im craving a little ethnic home style cooking, or feel like eating sushi. The prices are reasonable, and the portions are great for the average person.

Hands down the best sushi I have ever eaten! Been going there for over 6 years and I just cant say enough good things. Have had sushi in expensive restaurants all over the country but nothing beats this little hole in the wall. Like everyone has said, there are no elaborate fancy rolls, but their sushi is authentic and very reasonably priced. And it is absolutely mouth watering. :) As are the little desserts they hand out afterwards for free! Double win!

Last night was my first time to eat at Genki. I was pleasantly surprised as it exceeded my expectations. We were a party of 6, each ordering a different dish, and everyone loved what they ordered. The place is casual but very welcoming, the service is friendly and professional, the food fresh, creative, and delicious. The menu has something for everyone, including vegetarians and vegans, and the prices are reasonable considering the quality of the food.

Just a quaint little place with truly authentic Japanese owners, food, service, etc. Had the Sushi lunch as it provided me with a good variety of things to try. All was execellent. Update, have been back twice more now. Sushi was great, dont miss out on the Sushi chefs hand made candy at the end. Also, the Yakisoba was excellent and authentic to my time in Japan!! Miso soup is the best I have ever been served.

Service was great! Tempura was perfectly light and crispy. All the sushi was fresh and delicious; they have a wide range of options. We were offered complimentary homemade caramels and a homemade sake tasting made by the sushi chef himself! The sushi chef was very attentive to everyones needs. Pricing was fair for the great quality.

Everything was good! I had tonkatsu (deep fried pork), my husband had the best tasting teriyaki salmon, we had dumplings and shumai for appetizer and lychee sherbet for dessert. Oh by the way, egg drop soup was amazing, it never tasted anything like those on Chinese restaurants. Theirs was the best! Will go back sometime soon.

My friends, family and I always go to Genki. We have tried other sushi places, only to be extremely disappointed! Once you experience Genki, the food, family atmosphere and great prices, you will have high expectations for sushi for the rest of your life. I will always recommend Genki to anyone. This place is one of a kind!!!
