Came here on my anniversary. The food is 5 stars. I want to say this at the start. They only had one cook they only knew one trick. After watching the table before us, it was already old by the time we were served. Calling ahead and announcing that this is a special occasion for two didnt do any good either as we were quickly forgotten no sooner than we hung up. I also asked to give us the best chef who will make our night something to talk about. Although when we arrived our name was jotted in there book NOTHING came out of previous conversation. Once again I reminded the maître d that this was a special occasion and if they offered anything, roses, wine, cake, or anything?" I was told to speak with our server. Although the staff is friendly they are far from looking professional. Everyone seemly can where and dress however they please. They are terribly understaffed. Two servers tried to serve 6 tables of 8 to 10. Needless to say drinks had to be asked to be refilled over and over again. Constant reaching over food, cups, plates of food as I watched completely tattooed arms pass in front of my face. Most fine dinning restaurants expect their staff to cover up because the designs can be offensive or even the tattoos themselves. Dont get me wrong our server was quite pleasant and very nice but you can only overlook so many things. Waiting for your refills, waiting for wasabi as your food gets cold or the main reason I left such a low score being rushed out the door. Desserts or drinks were never offered nor the remembrance of our special occasion. Others at the table soon were feeling rushed as we barely finished our foods then began to interact with one another our bills/checks were instantly being shoved in our faces. This started a new line of conversation with our new found friends. They also where disappointed. There was only one chef and as mentioned before his "trick" was old and repetitive. He wasnt conversing or engaging his table as we found out he was one of the owners and was more focused on how fast he could get to the next table and the return of his brother from a new bar they owned. My suggestions. Make this place amazing before venturing off. You have great food. Warm and simple atmosphere. Hire, train and step it up a notch. Make this a place thats fun. Let the client ask for their check. Let them enjoy their experience whether you give them a show or you are just cooking in front of them. That time after dinner is when drinks are ordered and enjoyed over a US Foods dessert. Everyones experience should be rememberable. We shouldnt feel like a $50 bill in a chair. How fast can we get the next group in. Sadly this was our first and last visit to this restaurant... at least for a year. Maybe they will improve. This by far isnt a reflection on the server but bad management. We were given an 18% off curtesy card. 18%? This was given as she recognized that our experience was less than stellar. Would it have been better if they knew we were mystery shoppers?

Worst experience ever!! The waitress did not come to the table too often. On top of that when I asked about a dish she said oh Ive never had anyone order that before. At this point you would think she would ask another employee the question and bring me the answer. Instead she just repeated what do you want to drink. Next the chef came out and completely got rude as he messed up my order. The place is dark inside and in need of better ventilation as the smoke alarm went off while the chef cooked. Oh and it was only one chef so we ended up waiting an hour for service. The floor is slippery. And the prices are too high for the quality of service and the quality of food. I would not recommend this place AT ALL!! Save your money go somewhere else!! I wanted to put half of a star but it wasnt an option. One last thing the chef complained about adding spices to the grill as he stated it would burn too quick on the grill..never have heard that before from ANY Japanese place. Poor excuse of a steakhouse.

The worst Japanese restaurant Ive been to! Everything about this place was disappointing and below expectations. Started in the beginning with the waitress that was not knowledgeable of their menu or what happy hour was! When I asked for plum wine she had this dumb look on her face as if I spoke a foreign language then she came to reality and decided to go find the lady(Im assuming co owner) and ask her. Then the chef who didnt attempt to do any tricks, was boring and unprofessional it was the worst presentation skills ever. It was 6 people at the table and he literally gave us a handful of rice! Then to finish off the lack of good customer service and lack of knowledge the lady(co owner) didnt honor my groupon for $60 off my ticket. Trust me do not waste your money here go to Kabutos or Kobe!!!

Went twice, both times very bad experience. Never again. First time, we went 30 minutes before closing time posted on their door, but they had closed the kitchen and locked the door as they had no customers. Seems like bad customer service as per other reviews is catching up and very few people are showing up. Anyways, since they closed early and it was the last day of the Groupon coupon, it expired. Second time, we went to use the original paid value of the Groupon (not the promotion value). However the owner still insisted we buy 4 Hibachi dinner to use the paid value. Gross misrepresentation of the Groupon. Worst customer service, Rude staff, and I am sure since no one is going to this restaurant -- Horrible food. We walked out forgoing our Groupon completely. Never again.

I have been going to Shogun for years. I enjoy going to sit at the amazing bar while enjoying freshly made sushi & ice cold beer. Whenever we have family functions (like birthdays, etc.) we always choose Shogun Japanese Steakhouse & Sushi because of the high quality food they prepare and the at home atmosphere. The are the most customer-focused restaurant that we visit. Every experience makes you feel like you are right at home. This family owned & operated restaurant is perfect for any occasion. They are reasonably priced and again amazing food. Dara, is truly one of the most amazing sushi chefs I have ever seen. Thank you for everything Shogun.

My husband and I went for our anniversary and from the time we arrived to the time we left all of the staff was friendly. There was no one else dining in at the time and we werent sure how the experience would be but the food was GREAT, portions were plenty, the chief was entertaining, and we didnt have to share a table with strangers because we had an entire table to ourselves :) I would definitely visit this place again and recommend it to others too!

Took a 20 minute drive to give Shogun a try since I had time to kill and I had heard about a special on FB. Nice people and service. Food was so/so. Fried rice is the baseline for good hibachi and it was mushy and over buttered. Shrimp was nice sized and a nice portion. Decor is in need of a refresh and the grill has residue on the edges. My benchmark is Kabutos btw. @ $13 for dinner, the price is about 1/3rd of Kabutos for dinner.
