Hiros steakhouse is a typical Hibachi grill for the most part. Its certainly enjoyable enough as a hibachi show, varying depending on who is your chef that night. A good personality can make a big difference, and even the same old jokes can be fun if youre having fun with it. And if hibachi is new to you, youre in for a treat-- its something everyone should experience at least once. Their vegetable fried rice, however, is what keeps me and my family going back. It is, bar none, the best vegetable fried rice Ive had-- comparing other hibachi grills, upscale Chinese restaurants, and various home cooked recipes, its just delicious-- and theres plenty of it. Start eating when they put the first bit on your plate or there wont be ROOM for the rest of the meal! I will second everyone elses statement that they have a wonderful sushi chef as well. Its just perfect. Id also say take the other google reviews with a grain of salt-- when was the last time you had an enjoyable meal and rushed off to write a formal review about it somewhere? On the other hand, when youve had an unfortunate experience, however rare that might be for any given location, you tend to let the world know. Ive been to Hiros a half dozen times or so, and the service has been plenty decent (and once we had a FANTASTIC cook who just made the whole evening; should have got his name).

Fantastic experience. Any complaint about the wait times is poorly explained. As with any meal that includes a show, the tables will take a while as to wait to see if anyone else can be seated before the chef arrives to maximize efficiency. So be prepared to wait if you want the entire experience with the show. That being said, it is well worth it. The food was incredible as always, and the service show was just as fun (even with only myself and my partner there at the table). However be warned if youre a bit shy this is a very social experience, so a lot of interaction with the chef and waitress may make you feel like youre put on the spot a bit. And as someone with anxiety it can be off putting at times, but as long as you can laugh it off and go with it youll have a fine time. Overall ill be really happy when I return, but be prepared for the high prices considering you also pay for the experience they are justified, but just another warning. Overall a great treat to celebrate a special occassion, as long as you take things into consideration you should know what youre getting into.

First off the server was very nice and attentive. Now that the only good part of the dinner experience is out of the way where do I start? I order the tuna steak. When the chef is at the table asking me how I want it done I say I would like it rare. He proceeds to make fun of me and tell me that I dont know how to order tuna. He says that I think that I am ordering tuna sushi. He points at my wine glass and says "Oh! youve been drinking I see now." He cooks the tuna well done. Why did he even ask? At one point during the meal while he is chopping onions he hurls a hot piece of food that hits my 5 year old daughter in the eye. While she is crying he says that I should not worry because it was not that hot. The food overall was bland. Dont bother asking for a manager to complain. I did and the manager told me that it is all part of the show. I wont be coming back. There are a lot better places to get food in this town. You dont need to put up with rude service and bland food.

My boyfriend and I LOVE the food here. We only go on special occations because the prices are high for college students. But for dinner and a show what can you expect, right? But when youre paying that much for a plate of food the service could be better! I asked my waitress what house red wines they had and she said oh, I dont know, as she continued to look at me for a second with confusion I started guessing, Pinot Nior? Merlot? She said pino Grigio? I was like omg, how hard is it to learn the menu where you work?!? Other than no knowledge of the menu, and looking like she just smoked a bowl the waitress rolled her eyes at me as she walked away. She did keep our drinks refreshed and pack our stuff up Togo and The chef was funny and entertaining which saved that girls tip. Cant get a great server every time I guess. Food still on point though; service they need to work on..have some standards when people are paying $20+ for a plate

When you go expect to be there for a few hours. I went with just my boyfriend and there was a 15 to 20 minute wait, which is not bad. Then we were seated and had to go through the ordering, the soup, the salad, and the show. Then we were given time to eat, before they brought out the checks with sorbet and the fortune cookie. We arrived around 7:30 and did not leave until a little after ten. One reason for this was because at the end of the meal they lost my boyfriends credit card, before the meal could be paid for. They apologized but offered no compensation. They said they would move the grills after closing to look, but it was never found. A little strange in my opinion. So i suggest if you go there to take plenty of cash, should this happen to you. They do expect full payment at the end of the night.

Took almost 20 mins for drinks (water), consomme crap soup, super processed ginger dressing to start. Followed by a cooking performance by a real authentic hispanic gentlemen. My wife and I ordered Filet Mignon, chicken and shrimp dinner to share. The filet was freezer burnt and was of low quality. Tasted like old hamburger honestly. Nothing was of great quality. The food just tastes processed like the stuff of food courts. We frequent these style places in our travels. The best combine high quality food with premier service. We paid 80$ for 2 people to eat in a dirty place with a bunch of flustered staff. This one is a wont return. Gave 2 stars because at least the cook was friendly, but they shouldnt have to apologize twice before we have our meal for poor service times.

What a gem my husband and I stumbled upon while on our first "getaway" vacation! Hiro was such a pleasant surprise to us that we ended up talking about how good the food and experience was for 3hrs after we left! MaiLing (sp?) was very accommodating and customized special sushi rolls to our liking. My husband got a lobster tempura roll and the lobster was cooked to perfection!! Best lobster roll we had ever tried!! Cannot wait to get back to try the scallop and steak hibachi!! My husband and I both feel very lucky to have found Hiro Japanese Steakhouse and plan on making it a special reason for a day-trip to Wilmington!

We went to Hiros on 1-16-10 with some family members. It took two hours to eat with reservations! The waitress let us run out of tea and drinks twice. My father-in-law ordered extra rice but the cook forgot it as well as his shrimp so the cook had to stop and go back to the kitchen. He was very slow at preparing the food! Prior to the cook coming to our table, we waited almost 20 minutes before receiving our soups and then another 20 mintues before receiving our salads. It was the slowest service ever! The food tasted good but we have no desire to return any time soon. Two hours with reservations is ridiculous!
