Being a guy, I like food. In fact, when Im eating I barely notice anything else. A giraffe walked past the table? The waiter slapped my date with a swordfish? Missed it. Sorry. You know, this chicken bhuna roll is REALLY good. There are things you want to miss at Masala Times. While it must have been gorgeous at some time in the past, with bright colors and stylish decor, its a bit rundown now. A little dirty. Patrons have peeled a lot of the vinyl letters off a sign. (A sign that actually talks about VOMIT, which is something else youll want to miss.) But I loved, loved, loved the food. They do not pull the spices here: when you leave, your lips will be burning and your fingers will be stained yellow with turmeric. That chicken bhuna roll was chock-full of white-meat chicken, and had a great deep almost fruity taste. The Batata Vada roll was gorgeously seasoned curried potatoes, though I didnt need quite so much grease. The tandoori vegetables were delicious. With a few small changes, this place could have a line out the door, could be a worldwide chain. Heck, its already better than Chipotle.

I was roaming the streets near my apartment the other day searching for some good take out. I was just on maps seeing what was nearby when I walked by this place. I walked by the door just as it opened and was turned into a cartoon character after smelling a pie resting on a windowsill. It smelled like the kitchen at my parents house after my mom was done cooking. I ordered the chicken tikka masala box which comes with rice, dhaal, and naan. The dhaal is pretty spicy so dont say you werent warned. The chicken tikka masala was delicious and was well balanced. It wasnt too spicy and the sauce was on the creamier side. The restaurant is well decorated and a decent size by NYC standards. The staff is also very friendly. My only issue with this place was that it is a bit pricey for what it is. I spent around $15 for the box and an extra naan.

Review for Veg only - Food is not as good as Indian restaurants tried around New York. For me, it was the worst. But if you want to try Indian Food or dont have any other option, go to this place. I have been twice here. First time tried veg paneer bhurji but really I can make better than that. Next time I tried Lunch box. But Paneer was worst. It was hard. Roti/Chapati made of Maida or plane flour its hard to eat after some time. Paneer Tikka Masala was SWEET ! Rice was also bad not in taste but there was nothing in it. Just plane yellow rice. I will not recommend this place for Veg at least !

If youre expecting this place to be a sit down nice restaurant, you are wrong. Its a place where you order your dinner box at the front and eat it for a few minutes and get out of there. The man at the front is not very nice at all, but the food is great. I ordered the chicken tikka masala and it was amazing. The naan is not as fluffy as you may be used to, but its still excellent. Read the wall about Hollywood v. Bollywood for some good entertainment.

This place has become our favorite place for late late late night food grabs. Ive tried way too much on the menu now to be scared about what might not be good. We have tried: pav bhaji, bhuna chicken roll, mutton combo, chicken combo, tandoori combo, paneer bhurji roll and "sides of dal chawal". Everything is good but dal chawal stole the show for me! They could probably do a lil better on more seating and a cleaner/well lit restroom.

Masala Times, a bollywood-themed, casual Indian restaurant offers exceptional food with cheesy names. The chicken malai kebab is my favorite, and amongst the best Ive had anywhere. The prices are very reasonable, there is sufficient seating, and they have all your favorites. The chicken box is a good value, if you want dal. I prefer to skip the sides and focus on the delicious meats and naan.

his is our favorite food in New York during the vacation. We got take out twice, great salads, terrific soups, loved the yogurt cups and the fruit. Both of us are working our BMI back into the healthy range. With the help of Pret a Manger we have been able to keep our calorie intake in the desired range. Too bad we cant find these guys in California yet. Highly recommended.

Seriously never everrrrrrr order food here!!!! 30-45 min delivery time my asssss! Took them 1,5 hour to deliver, while they are about 5 blocks removed from my office and the food was cold and ridiculous. Was no more then a bit of rice and 4 small pieces of chicken for $10.00. This is by far the worst food I have ever eaten!

Great food, but disorganized. After waiting for an hour, I didnt get a simple roll, even after multiple complaints where rest of the people in the group finished their meals. Apparently, the lender let someone else take my roll, and then spent 40 min to try and resolve it. Eventually, I had to take my voice and get a refund

Overpriced and plain. I ordered a chicken tikka masala for $13 and all I got were 3 small chicken pieces and a whole plate of rice with chickpea soup. The food was served in a plastic contained that was most likely frozen and microwaved. Now Im a huge fan of Indian food but unfortunately this place was a disappointment.

Second time here in as many weeks, does not disappoint. They dont go crazy with their menu, but whatever they serve is delish! Have tried 5-6 different menu items - Samosa, Pav Bhanu, veg box, rolls all awesome and not watered down to suit the American palate. Highly recommend a visit or two if you are in the area.

Great Place. So far the best wrap Indian snack joint I have found in Manhattan. Believe me I am a cook and big foodie so you can take it seriously. If you are vegetarian - Paneer kati roll and Mango lassi finger licking good. But if you dont mind meat, their Keema Paav is THE dish to try.

This Bollywood themed restaurant is a unique and interesting find. The prices are good and serving sizes are large, but the food isnt very good. The best didnt resemble naan, but a defrosted slab of dough. The rice was also a little dry - I expected more from an Indian restaurant.

Great food. Probably one of the best places to have Indian street food. Chicken bhuna roll is my personal favorite. They even have good vegetarian options. The only problem is shortage of space if you want to dine in. Especially on weekends its difficult to get a place to sit.

Attitude Sucks. They do not have the right people on the telephone. Havent tried their food, but I will give them the.benefit of doubt. Overall pathetic experience on the telephone therefore this comment. Maybe it was a bad day, maybe they are normally better than this.

i dont usually leave reviews, but i felt obligated. they were really rude and after we ordered $40 worth of food, told us we had to "get out" and "leave". it claims its BYOB but they wouldnt even provide us with cups, let alone give us a cup of TAP WATER. terribly rude.
