The food is spectacular and unlike most Indian places, the service is pretty good and the atmosphere is inviting and cozy. Ive been here at least 30 times and Ive never had anything that was poorly prepared or less than expected. The Bombay Chicken is perfectly seasoned and falls off the bone. The Korma is rich and zesty without the clumpy texture Ive had at other Indian places. The Behl Puri is always fresh and crunchy. The chicken soup here is absolutely a must have every time I go. The lamb tikka masala is tender and juicy without the strong gamey taste that turns some off to lamb. I even like the coconut curry and I hate coconut. Every time Im in here I see a celebrity too. The last time I saw Ronny James Dio. Ive seen Zach Braff, Kirsten Dunst, Don Henley, Emma Thompson, Vince Vaughn, Ben Stiller and others. Ive read some complaints about the service which Id like to address. If youre going to an Indian restaurant expecting the same service youd get at from an upscale American chain restaurant, youre going to be disappointed. Indians just dont have the same demands we Americans do. However, the staff at Great India Cafe is more attentive than ANY other Indian restaurant Ive been to. OK, so your water might not get filled when its halfway empty, but if you want something, there are always plenty of waiters just a hand gesture away, happy to help and speedy with a resolution. You will have several people attending to your table, so dont be annoyed if the person that takes your order doesnt bring your check. And dont sit there quietly annoyed because your waiter cant be found, while others walk past. Just signal for help and ANYONE will take care of you with a smile and genuine appreciation. This is how most restaurants handle service outside of the US. In short, expect great food, good service, pleasant atmosphere. What more could you want? Dont listen to the reviews from the grammatically challenged and the pompous "authorities on indian cuisine for 35 years". There are a half dozen Indian places between my house and The Great Indian Cafe. While Ive eaten at all of them, I usually drive past them all to eat here because its the best place in town. Enjoy.

I just came home from having an average meal from Great India Cafe in Studio City. What ruins EVERYTHING for me is when I have a surly waiter. In fact I have his name on the sales receipt; Tajinder (#123). I noticed he was much nicer to other customers that he plainly knew. The thing is the only was to get customers to came back is to be friendly and nice in the beginning. It makes everything worse to have a waiter like that. I would like to say that in the end the other waiter finished bringing me the check to sign and gave me the to go boxes for my leftover food and he was very nice. I would also like to say that the decor is pitiful....painted velvet pictures on the wall along with Christmas lights and a tacky mural on the wall. The food was ok, but for me, if the person taking me order if clearly hostile, nothing works.

The place is quite and clean. I got an Indian beer which tasted ok. I ordered lamb curry and a plate of rice. The rice was cold and the curry didnt have sauce or gravy. The flavor was good and the lamb was also well cooked. The portions were also reasonable. The service was good however the waiter seemed serious with no smiles which made me feel like I was a unwanted guest. Overall its ok and its good for one try out. Curries come with sauce but there was no sauce what so ever

I walk by this place all the time on my way to work and it always smells so wonderful, I had to try it. I got the Chicken Tikka Masala with basmati rice and naan, and I may be completely hooked. This is the best Masala Ive found in the valley, and Ive definitely been looking. Even the plain naan had so much flavor, Im excited to try their other varieties. A+!

Great India Cafe sits near the top of my favorite Indian restaurants. The chicken tikka masala slaughters my taste buds with flavor, and the paneer makhani is even better. The naan is also especially good. I find the service to be excellent, and sometimes they even bring out complimentary dishes of chutney or rice pudding. I love it.

Each dish at Flavor of India has a unique taste some might miss due to the spiciness of all entrees. Friendly service, aromatic atmosphere and casual dining makes this second location cozy and popular with young and old. Outside covered-patio dining adds to the romance.

Been going here for years, I suggest it to all my clients and order delivery from here several times a month. The quality of the food stays consistent which is tough to say about many restaurants... Chicken Tika Masala and garlic naan FTMFW!

The food is good and reasonably priced. The lunch specials are damn good and its the only North Indian restaurant around that has dosas... they are not the best but they are better than not having dosas.

Crazy delicious chai, cool atmosphere and the options are varied. As with everything Studio City, its a little pricey and rice is ordered separately, but its worth checking out.

We liked the food. We took food to our hotel. So not quite sure of the service, but seemed like a good place. Parking could be a challenge.

Takes long time to process the order. Seems like they use same base for all their menu items since they taste similar. Not recommended.
