I tried their "Malai Kofta", "Garlic Naan" and "Sweet Lassi". Everything was delicious and flavorful. The only negative part was waiters were a little disorganized. Even though it wasnt busy on a weekday evening, they were in a hurry to get customers out of the seats once their dishes were empty. They asked my neighboring table 3 times if they were done and if they can take the dishes, while they were still working on it. Every waiter attends every table which can lead to situations like this. I was greeted by a water, order was taken by the owner/manager, additional requests (onions, lemon, salt and pepper) were handled by another waiter and my check was handed over by a 4th person. I never saw any of them again on my table. That didnt interrupt my meal or bother me, but multiple people inquiring if the customer is ready to get out, really did. Great food though!! Will visit again for the food and will expect a more organized service next time!!

I generally dont give scathing comments but being in NYC, I have come to eat good Indian food. But this one, this just took me the typically sad Indian food you get in most parts of the country. Ordered Benares Dal, Nawabi Subji, Kandhari (Malai) Kabab and Apricot Chicken. The Subzi and the chicken had exactly the same gravy, with the exception of apricot chunks (and not sauce) in the chicken. The dal was nothing to write home about and the Malai Kanab didnt melt in the mouth. I desperately looked for some silver lining but unfortunately there was none. Two stars are only because of nice ambience of a fine dining restaurant and the food was fairly reasonably priced. I suspect this is more of Bangladesi run Indian place and so I suppose the dishes are reflect the confusion. All this said, I respect the views of those that have rated this highly but I am not going there again. Sadly.

I went over there at 10 PM and ordered Aloo Gobi, Dal and 2 Naan. Server was really rude since they were closing at 10:30 PM and i completely understand that, rather i would have appreciated if he would have told me that we are close. Food comes and Aloo Gobi was cold and even after complaining, server charged us money for Aloo Gobi which we hardly even ate anything. Also Management team were fighting since one of the server was yelling on the phone at counter and i dont expect this at service industry. Customers are eating and Management team is fighting and yelling at counter when customers are present. Overall it was a bad experience and i will never ever go back.

The food and the Ambience of this place is very nice. The food we enjoyed so much that not only we ate there thrice, while we were in New York for only Four days from Boston. But we got a full bag of food packed for Boston, as we didnt want my husband to miss the amazing food. The Barra Kababs, Chicken Tikka Masala were amazing. And above all were the GOOD people working there. Dont want to forget Mr. Arun( Manager) there, who went out of his way to take care of our family and also Mr. Junior, who was very nice and friendly. Cant wait to go back to New York soon and eat at Benares

Food was arlight. Service was fair. However we decided to not give the waiter any tip because we waited quite a while for our food and when asked for few things such as chutney the waiter became angry. after paying we walked out the door and the waiter followed us. He literally ran behind me and my husband. Tip is a choice not mandatory. If we werent happy with the service we are not required to pay a tip! Thats extremely rude to come after someone for tip. I will never return to this place especially after this situation. Disgusting!

Great value and really good indian food 5 minutes from WTC. A $12.95 3 course vegetarian or protein lunch. And a nicely appointed place. In downtown its hard to get 2 three course good quick lunch meals with 1 beer and tip for $40. We just did. She got samosas and chicken tikka masala. I got seekh kabob and chicken vindaloo "spicy" It made my head sweat perfectly. As i write this I have a party in my mouth.

The most delicious Indian food we have had in New York to date. Food flavourful and perfectly seasoned. Staff charming especially Junior. They gave us a tour of the kitchen. Unbelievable rose petal ice cream with warm chocolate cake - Atomb Bomb. Cant wait to return.

It was amazing ! Being Indian , I never like dining out at Indian restaurants since we cook so much at home. But I must say I was very impressed with the flavor and the uniqueness in taste of many of the dishes ! Will definitely go again ! And the ambiance is great.

Lightly dim ambiance and modern decor. Good service and great food. Lunch special on a Sunday was a very good deal. Vegetarian and non vegetarian pre fix menus that include house dessert. Lot of food for a very reasonable price. Above average Indian food.

I wish i could review the food but there was no soap in either of the two mens bathrooms.. There was an overused hand sanitizer pump and thats even more telling of the sanitation. Had to leave, not worth the risk, i hope they get it together.

Im very disappointed with the food. I ordered Kadai Paneer which is nothing like a Kadai paneer but a chilli paste. Dont get me started with the chicken biryani, chicken smells bad and it is not at all authentic. Try other place not this.

I disagree with all the negative comments. Maybe some people just do know proper bar etiquette. The bartenders, doorman and waitstaff are amazing. Personally, they are the reason why I keep coming back. If I could rate I 6stars, i would.

Excellent, excellent food. I dont typically go for Indian food but I came here for lunch with some coworkers and everything was excellent. The portion sizes are great, prices are surely reasonable, and everything is extremely flavorful.

we had the vegetarian food and the food was really good. The paneer tika was melting in your mouth. the lunch options were good, reasonable and plenty. The place packed for lunch on a weekday, no wonder.

It was my first time. The servers were really good and polite even though we had reached really close to their closing time. we had a nice and complete meal at a great cost. I am gonna be a regular.

This place offers the best Indian food around :) Their appetizers were really good and nothing to talk about the main course :) Everything I ordered was really awesome and thanks a lot team :)

Fantastic place for a business lunch. Staff was friendly, though they kept missing dishes, probably due to them being fairly busy at lunch time. The lunch specials are good value for money.

Food is good and ambience is also nice. So what stopped me to add another star - while as others felt its the colder same staff interactions. Although, I went on a relatively slow day.

Worst place to go ,. Bartender do have zero idea of what shes shaking. You ask for drink , she will look on menu or look around for help or jump into phone n run with white papers.
