I suppose my experience at Wah Kue was tainted by the recommendation that it was absolutely the very best Chinese food in the Seattle area. For some people, that acclamation most likely rings true. Im certain my grandmother would have thought so; as the restaurant, around for 50 years, reminds me a lot of eating "Chinese food" back in the 1960s. Its what I call "Fork Chinese Food," as opposed to the more ethnic "Chopstick Chinese." The won-tons were outstanding as was the fried rice. The sweet/sour chicken was delicious, some of the best Ive ever had. The chow mein noodles, however, looked like they came straight from a can of Chun King. The pepper beef was uninspired. The service was particularly mediocre. The restaurant wasnt crowded, yet we waited 50 minutes for our dinner. They seemed to prioritize the take-out over the dine-in. When we asked our server how much longer wed have to wait, our food was ready and hot in 3 minutes. I would recommend Wah Kue for people who arent familiar with actual Chinese cooking. If you really want to eat something more authentic, go elsewhere.

Not what I was expecting for Chinese. The grilled chicken mien had an ingredient called subgum! Turns out that is code for chopped vegetables, which include frozen carrot and peas. This is totally a red neck Chinese restaurant, if your looking for chop suey, this is your place. If your looking for actual Chinese food, keep on trucking. Have to also comment on the pricing, which is so totally off! Our meal was $50 for two people, was way too ridiculously high, for a place that is totally out of the 50s, referring to Thierry idea of Chinese food and the decor. I will never go back

So glad the new management knows what theyre doing, I stopped eating at this restaurant sometime ago because the egg rolls tasted rotten, the food smelled funny and I always got sick. So last night my husband picked up dinner and didnt tell me it was from the place I hated until I was happily munching away. Oh my god the food is so good, fresh tasting and smells inviting. Im definitely going to order again and thank you new management youve finally made this place worth eating at and with a great price.

My 68 year old mother remembers going to Wah Kue as a little kid and I can say the same! Theyre under new ownership but the food hasnt changed one bit, Id say its even better than before. I love sitting in the lounge with my husband, it gives the feeling of old school nostalgia... I remember being a kid and wanting to go into that lounge room sooo bad and Im so happy that they never changed the decor. I hope it never changes, we LOVE Wah Kue!! A tradition restaurant for my family!

The Chinese greens (bok choy) with beef is to die for, the almond chicken is ok(have tried several at other restaurants and havent found any to be really good). Didnt care for sweet n sour chicken or orange crispy beef. I cant comment on the pork dishes the others ordered because I do not eat pork. The waiter was a very sweet gentlemen. The service was fast and they boxed our food up for us. I rated them so high based on service and the bok choy.

They have THE BEST EVER Almond Fried Chicken! We drive from the north end of Lake Washington all the way to Burien for their food! Great fried prawns as well. Imagine our surprise when found out others also make the long drive to get tasty dishes from Wah Kue! It sounds like those who felt they paid too much are used to Safeway Deli and Panda Express food. (BLECH on those). Wah Kue is STILL in business after 50 years for a reason - great food!

Sweet and Sour Chicken is amazing. Sauce is authentic and perfect. Second recommendation would be their Egg Rolls which are the size of a small burrito. You will not be questioning the $15 price tag after you try them. You will sit there wondering what their secret recipe is and trying to convince your family to order another three. With the marlins on the wall and 60s style gold flake wallpaper the decor could use an upgrade.

Love this place!! Order the salt and pepper chicken wings. I have never understood everyones obsession with chicken wings but holy moly.....their salt & pepper wings are insane. I dream about them! Everything else here is also fresh, prepared right and just down right awesome. We like eating in the bar. The waitresses are all super sweet!

We had a Birthday Party there last evening 7/30/15. The food was outstanding and the service was excellent. The waiter was friendly and made it very special. He brought a dish of fortune cookies with a lighted candle. We all sang Happy Birthday and he joined right in with his version in Chinese. It was sooo much fun. Great place!

Pretty terrible....I would not eat here again. They serve VERY American Chinese food with pretty cheap ingredients. Our chow mien only had celery and bean sprouts in it with probably 2 cut up slices of bbq pork. Fried rice was just covered in soy sauce with no veggies and very sparse on the eggs and meat. Just very disappointing.

Was here at 730 PM with our baby who happened to make a mess, customer service was outstanding. But the food was over cooked especially general Tso chicken. But we were disappointed overall. But customer service was excellent. Standing currently in the parking lot typing this, and saw a ran over mouse... but Ill be done now.

Arrived an hour before closing and were treated like an inconvenience from start to finish. Very poor customer service. The food is still good, but its not the same quality that it was with the original owners. Weve come here a couple of tines a year for the last 15 years. ... probably not going to do that again.

Great food ....but the prices for how much you gt are rediculas. I have been going here since I was 3 and Im almost 40 and really this place needs to reconsider their prices or family plate prices if they want to continue to keep their loyal customers....as I know they are losing them do to their prices....

Been going here for decades. My go to spot when asked where I want to go for dinner on my birthday every year. They went through a rough patch with new owners and the cooks wanting to cook healthy. It was a bad choice, almost lost a lot if business. Now they are cooking the original recipes. So happy.

The chicken chow mein was greasy and tasteless. A single order cost $18 with tax and tip. The food was expensive and gross, and the restaurant smelled like nasty stale cigarette smoke. The only good thing is that they brought me a cup of tea while I waited for my takeout. I will not come back.
