Finally got around to trying a kati roll and I now understand what all the fuss is about. I got the Shami Kabab roll and it was delicious. The roti was grilled lightly so it was warm, slightly toasted but still soft. The Shami Kabab is a spiced mutton and it is full of flavor. For the Shami Kabab it is one for $5.25 or two for $9.50. I was decently hungry so I bought two. It probably would have been enough to have just one, but I am a gluttonous pig and I would rather be too full then just slightly full. My one complaint is that the rolls could have used some more vegetables like some lettuce and tomato. I believe it would have been a good compliment and would not have masked the robust flavor at all. The price is slightly expensive because you can get two kati rolls at certain food carts throughout town and they would only set you back about $6.00. I am guessing you get what you pay for and until I try some of these food carts I cannot comment on which I would prefer. Stay tuned as this review will be updated.

This is one my favorite places to go to when Im in the city. They have a simple concept: paratha cooked in lots of butter/ghee and filled with any mix of eggs, veggies, paneer, chole, chicken, beef, or lamb. All the spices have been very good. What results is an easy traveling snack or meal. Their chai is also pretty good for a cold day. And the mango lassi they sell is about as good as any commercial one Ive tried. I recommend the chicken unda one if youre in the mood for spicy or the beef unda one if you want a hearty juicy kati roll. Their food is great so it gets 5 stars but the staff leaves more to be desired. One time I went the cashier to take my order was playing on his phone even after he acknowledged my presence. Another guy from the back saw it and pushed him out of the way to take my order. A second time they gave my order to someone else, even though I had asked if it was my order and they told me no. They just dont have their act together. Limit your interaction with them and enjoy their food.

The word "kati" means "stick"-the meat used in a Kati Roll" have been grilled like kebabs on metal sticks, hence the name. The meat in the rolls at this place might not taste completely like "Kati" kebabs, but are nonetheless mouth watering. Ive tasted the Nizami Kati rolls in Calcutta ( which is what inspired this place), and the food is a an interesting variation of the original Kati rolls in Calcutta. I think theyve created dishes with a unique taste to fit the palate of new yorkers quite perfectly-my favorite being the chicken malai roll (wrap with red onions, chicken and lime juice). The place seems to be very popular with NYU students, and with good reason. Its not always easy to preserve the authentic taste of a specific cuisine and make the food marketable at the same time, and The Kati Roll company has done just that. With food that is delicious enough to warrant a second helping and prices that go easy on the pocket (around $5 to $6 for a roll), this place is hitting all the right notes.

After having kati rolls in the heart of Kolkata during a volunteer experience abroad, Id been dying to get that taste again but thought I was doomed to just memories. When I stumbled upon Kati Roll Company, I was a bit skeptical especially since the prices were so cheap. But I doubled down and got the aloo roll and the paneer roll and was more than pleased. Theyve done everything right here and I almost felt transported back to the streets of Kolkata. They also are conveniently on Seamless and with $25 you can easily grab 4 rolls and have dinner and lunch really quickly. Ive always been served quickly and the service is friendly. And even though they have a solid variety of rolls, I suggest the doubling down on the aloo roll as your stomach will thank you later!

It sucks - original owners sold it to a 2nd party at which point it lost the original charm and taste of Kati Rolls. Now their are new people and they have NO SENSE of customer service. I am not against the change but after my last visit I am completely convinced and confirmed that I will NEVER go back. The food was really oily and the item was undercooked and was almost empty of any inside fillings. The taste was horrible and i noted the hey raised the prices by 25%. (I wouldve been ok the price increase as I also understand but at least food taste and quality should not be compromised). He has the name only that is left and he is abusing and hope that as A south Asian I hope other communities catches up to this and share there thoughts.

The moment I walked into this location of Kati Roll, I started comparing it with its other location in Greenwich Village. As compared to the one in village this place is very spacious. It has seating in the front and back and also has a restroom. I walked in here with my friend who loves kati rolls. The decor is similar the one in village with walls having big layouts from old bollywood movies. I tried the shrimp masala and my friend the one with paneer. Somehow I have always felt the rolls here miss that kick. I mean they are good but not exceptional. The staff as always behind the counter is not courteous. I guess I will stick to my usual place (thelewala) for my kati roll cravings.

By far the dirtiest and shitiest place i ever visited..! In all of new york these fellas are the only one who were ranked B for their sanitary grading..! I went there waited for like more than 10 minutes no one was in the queue and then they ask me if i have already ordered or not and when i say no.. They ask me to wait for 5 minutes..because they were changing the shift..! I was already disgusted by the smell coming out of the kitchen.. And when i saw the service i could not hold my self another second over there and left as soon as possible! Never gonna go there again!

For real, who are these people kidding? they are charging me so much for indian street food that is not that great. Nazami roll next door tastes better in my opinion. Kati rolls chutney lacks flavor other than immense spice. their portion sizes are super small for their pricing. and the toppings are not clever at all. worst is that their are redesigning the place. they used to have this cool pictorial menu on the wall and 70s bollywood posters everywhere, but now they are reinventing themselves in the wrong direction. not worth it, but the place across the street is.

Terrible customer service. I ordered a chicken tikka roll and a drink, the total was $7.50. The guy tells me its $9 minimum on the card. I would have been prepared for this if they would have a sign anywhere in the store or at the door saying this. They did NOT. When I ask the guy about this..he says its the LAW!!!! Are you freaking kidding me! I found this pretty ridiculous! Apart from the service, the rolls are great!
