I felt extremely uncomfortable and I was not treated as fairly as the other people I attended with. Save your money and do not go to this restaurant. The food isnt that good to sit through the blatant disrespect and judging glances. ***As a response to your "apology"...no, screw you guys, I will never go back there ever again. First off, I was never a regular so your attempt at making me think you "know me" and actually care has failed. And "...youll be ours again". No. Stop. Thats just creepy. You say that all of your customers are equal but that was not the case when I was there with my friends. If youre the manager that served me, which I believe you are, you pressured me into buying an entree when I was fine with only getting my appetizer and were rude enough to actually ask if I was going to "get anything else", as if my order wasnt enough. You offered "us" some free cucumber sauce but really you were only offering it to my friends. I never received eye contact from you. I decided to cave in and buy an entree from your restaurant and I felt rushed the whole time I was trying to order. When giving us our checks, you gave both my friends stamp cards for your restaurant and while explaining how they worked, you were once again ONLY talking to my friends, not to me. Which I guess I can understand, since you didnt give me one. When leaving, you failed to acknowledge both my friend who sat next to me and I. You did not say thank you or bye to us, only my friend who sat across from us. I was disrespected and I will never give my money to your restaurant ever again and I will encourage anyone I come across to never go as well. Have a good day! :)

Had a really bad service experience. I called for a pickup order 10 minutes before they closed for lunch and said I was on my way between work and the restaurant (4 minute commute). I rarely get to eat here because they close so early for lunch and being in the restaurant business I dont usually get out in time. On this rare occasion, the man refused to take my order because he said the cooks wouldnt want an order so soon to lunch break. I responded by saying that he is technically still open and would still be open when I arrived. He said that didnt matter, which is the most disrespectful thing you can say to a customer. I then confirmed with him that he was denying a paying customer while he was still open. If someone had done this in my restaurant there would be definite recourse. You have just lost a customer.

Ive been here twice, never before had I eaten Indian food. I was hesitant, but it was good! The buffet is the way to go if youve never had it before, and I dont imagine I would ever order off the menu unless something really strikes me. Their naan bread is delicious, and the chicken items that Ive had have been tasty. Its not a flavors that I can identify, theyre just different for those of you who are new to Indian food like I was. Its a very nice restaurant, the tables are nice and the staff is courteous. I think its the owner that seated us the 2nd time, he wasnt nearly as stiff as the guy we had seat us the first time, but its a good place. I would recommend giving them a try, buffet is the best bet and its not bad. $10 for the buffet.

Went for Thanksgiving with my family. Been back twice since because we like it so much. Would go more often if it werent such a long drive and if the prices were lower, not a knock on their prices, they are right in line with similar restaurants, I just cant afford to spend $65 (for 3 of us) eating out often. The service, like the decor isnt stellar, but it is adequate. And maybe I dont know good Indian curry, I know I like Clay Ovens better than Taj Palace or Shalimar or Bombay Grill, and the family loves Clay Ovens tandoor chicken. IMHO if you like Indian food or want to try it, Clay Oven is the best on the East side of Louisville.

The owners are nepalese and they have a small selection of nepalese dishes, but otherwise its what you would expect of Indian restaurants in the midwest. They are very friendly and have the requisite lunch buffet. I have almost only eaten their vegetarian food, so I recommend saag (extra paneer please) and channa, but Ive never encountered a bad dish. It has a diner atmosphere and is pretty small, but rarely crowded with plenty of parking. They have a dinky wine and beer selection and always seem to be showing the news on two large televisions.

visited this place with friends in the evening. A couple of tables were occupied. The waiter refused to give a table of our choice. Once we were finished, we were rushed to leave when there was hardly anyone waiting for the table. Also the waiter was complaining "Indian parents dont discipline their children. Indian children are worst behaved". A child had spilled a little food on the floor. Never seen such complaints at any restaurant. Food was ok. Moderate spice had "no spice or salt". Restaurant was clean though

The food is bad. period. I ordered fish tikka masala which was supposed to be salmon. I got a wierd smelling butter masala with lot of ancient fish in it. Could nt tell with the flavor what fish it is since it was really bad. they replaced it with chilli paneer . Wasnt bad , but not good either. the paneer was very dry and hard (over fried?) and it lacked flavor. And what Indian restaurent it is without south Indian food? There is no Dosa/Idly/Vada. Not going back again even though i live nearby

Weve done takeout four or five times in the past 2-3 months and have been very satisfied with everything we have ordered (chicken korma, chicken biryani rice, etc.). Were a little picky about Indian food, having experienced many poor restaurants over the years, but I would say the sauces at Clay Oven have a certain depth of flavor that we appreciate. Takeout orders are prepared quickly and the prices are certainly reasonable. Havent experienced dining in yet, though.

Price for the buffet is reasonable. I requested a booth and it was made available once a customer left which was not long. Gave me a chance to eye the buffet. Stayed away from the chicken as it looked dry, but all the other options were good. Very good veggie options as well as fish and your chicken/goat curry. All food tasted fresh. Waiters were polite and visited my table frequently to give water. It was relatively busy.

Very friendly staff, with good food and large portions. Its the only Indian place in town I go to because they can clearly identify what Gluten Free items are available (buffet is out due to cross contamination concerns for celiac sufferers). Parking can be a bit frustrating due to shared lot. They are very fast for take out as well.

The buffet had many options, all of which were delicious. My eyes lit up when I saw they had Lamb biryani on the buffet. SO SO good. The service is also attentive and courteous, and its a family friendly place. One of the best Indian restaurants in the east end in my opinion!
