The three star is a combination of service and food. The service is five! Awesome server and host and hostess. The food barely a two. The salad...way too much frozen cocktail shrimp and very little krab, no seasoning and over a bed of bagged premixed salad. Suggestion...lemon wedge, black olives, red onion. Do not order the Grill salad if you simply want a pile of cold soggy shrimp. A special dressing would enhance this salad. The soup...mushroom steak...more like a wintery stew, decent flavor, not many mushrooms. Suggestion: lighten the base add more mushroom flavor. The rib eye... Oh sweet Jesus... Paying 34.00 for a maybe a 1/2 cut, fatty and pan seared was awful. No sear on it. Smothered in special seasoning...yuk..steakhouse this place is not. Suggestion: 1 inch cut. Learn the proper way to pan sear. The rib combo, sauce okay could use a hint of smokiness...very sweet. The rib cut...well both pork and beef should be prepared better. Sauce only on one side and it was not charred just sauce poured on top. The meat was not smoked or prepared with flavor...a good restaurant would prepare the meat to stand alone and sauce to enhance and a great restaurant doesnt even need the sauces to hide flavors..Taste your meat...rib joint this is not. The potatoes...twice baked was good flavor. There is a better way to prepare to look more appealing baked... Needed oil and salt to enhance while baking...sour cream was great. The presentation was not great and the entre was served in an unappealing trough...makes you want to get a to go box. The meat was not prepared with love. Again, great service but we wont be back.

Once again the Montana City Grill failed to meet our expectations for a special dinner. The food is mediocre at best, one would expect a lot more for a $30+ entree! I ordered the prime rib to be cooked medium, it came out a bloody mess that I couldnt eat. The accompanying mashed potatoes portion was a 1/4 cup in size, not what one would expect in Montana! The gravy taste like it was made from a store-purchased package! Our other entree was the "sea bass special". There was nothing special about the 30 dollar piece of fish! It tasted like it was something left in the freezer that they were trying to move quickly! The salsa topping tried to mask this fact, but the salsa was rather bland, not adding in any way to the dish. The bake potato was your average baked potato, hard to mess it up! The service was terrible to match the food. Our waitress was not seen again once the meal was served, leaving our drinks to run empty, and my rare prime rib sitting intact on my plate. When she did return she didnt offer refills, not did she inquire as to why my meal was untouched. When I did speak up to complain all she could do was show me where she noted "medium" on her order pad. Im glad she did think, but this proves she did not follow through to make sure the meal was prepared as requested. Then she was off, returning with the bill for the full amount, doing nothing to rectify the situation. I left the restaurant hungry and very disappointed by the experience. We will not be returning to the Montana City Grill anytime soon if this is their standard for food preparation and customer service!

Go to the Costco frozen food section and heat it up yourself. Had a chicken fried steak sandwich which was one of those generic oval shaped patties that in no way resembles a steak. Is it really that hard to whip up a batter, dip a fresh piece of meat in it, then throw it in the fryer? Same with the mozzarella sticks. Do you really have to serve pre-made frozen garbage from your restaurant supplier? For a second I could of sworn I was at an applebees. My only goal for the night was to be served some nice tasty homemade fried bar food, and they failed miserably. Whatever you do, dont ask them to split the check. That will cause your bipolar bartender/waitress to storm off while muttering obscenities under her breath. For the same price, you can buy the same meal ten times over out of the supermarket frozen food case. Montana City Grill = Fail

This place seems to be pretty hit or miss. Ive had very good meals, but Ive also had pretty bad ones, usually because of the way it was cooked, not the quality of the food itself. For example, the last time I was there, my mother and I ordered the mussels as an appetizer. There was still ice chunks in the mussels. Not to mention we ordered this as an appetizer, and we got our appetizer, our salad, and our entree all at the same time, a good 45 minutes after we had ordered. Ive had other meals here that were fine, but inconsistency gets a lower star rating from me.

The service was OK but not great. He could have been more attententive with the small amount of patrons they had. We ordered the ribeye steak and it was too tough to cut. To their credit they said it was a recent problem with their meat supplier and got us the prime instead which was pretty good. We also got the Huckleberry BBQ ribs and chicken but I thought the sauce was overrated in my opinion but that is personal preference. The decor feels cheap to me for the price of the food. All in all we probably wont be back and Id suggest some other place instead.

My wife and kids love this place. The atmosphere is really nice. I always eat off of the steak menu so cant give my take on anything else. I love the rib eye when Im too early for prime rib. I always have it cooked medium rare and it is perfect. It soo good you do not need A1 for flavor although I still use A1 because I love the sauce. The rib eyes are cooked exactly the way I cook them and my wife loves them just as much as mine.

Food was great, however, the service was terrible. Our drinks were empty almost the entire time and our server brought my full sized salad out on a side plate. As soon as she set it down, half of my salad fell off. I had to eat the salad out of a To Go box so the food wouldnt end up on the table. Then we waited another 20+ minutes to get the bill.

Fantastic food, good service. Had a themed special for St. Patricks Day. The corned beef and cabbage was amazing, I highly recommend the shrimp stuffed portobellos!

We went here, but were never served. The sign at the door said seat yourself. We waited for 10 mins then left without talking to a single employee.

A fine place to have a nice dinner. Atmosphere lends itself to quiet date nights or a place to bring kids for a quiet evening out. Good service.

Get the shrimp and crab on your side salad. The spaghetti and meatballs are just like an Mom made (delicious, not like spaghetti Os)

Ordered the Prime Rib. It was NOT good at all. The meat was fatty, tough and barely warm. I ordered it medium and it was rare.
