I am completely disappointed with the lack of effort this "bbq" joint putforth for food. Ive only been in town 6 weeks and this is the worst bbq i have ever had. The ribs literally were falling off the bone, which is great, but the ribs had absolutely NO FLAVOR! Not even a hint of smoke or grill flavoring. The pulled pork was ok, but dry. Again, no added flavor to it. The "brisket" is a joke!! After i tasted it, i double checked with the waitress to make sure it was brisket. I can say, with absolute certainty, i was served BOILED CHUCK ROAST(im seriously not kidding) NO FLAVOR, didnt even resemble sliced or chopped brisket. Why would you do this? The spicy sausage was good and has the right amount of spice. Sauce or no sauce, it hits the spot. So, apparently your appetizer comes midway through your meal? Dunno why i had to ask my server about my app order when the place was not busy and only had a total of 5 tables to worry about. The only reason this place has a 2 star rating is because the ladies working were very nice. Until they pick up the slack and in a major way, i dont see how these recent reviews are legit. Dry, bland food is not whats good for business.

VERY Friendly place with GREAT food! Never been before. We (2 ppl) arrived at 10:45am: First had breakfast (was free for just ordering juice or coffee - was confused but that was the case). It was really good - crispy & tasty bacon, scrambled eggs, hash browns, & toast (!!). Wanted to try more but was satiated, so since we got done after 11am, ordered some lunch items to go: Rib Tips (WOW!), Jalapeno Poppers (Double WOW! "Only" 4, but very filling and Spicy-Cheesy-Sausagey-Bacony-Tasty!), & the Coca-Cola Taquitos (YUM!). Definitely coming back (again and again) to try the wings and the brisket, and the soft tacos, and ... well, honestly, pretty much the rest of the menu. Servings are huge, prices are low, food is made to order (be patient!) and unique; the Habanero Pineapple Salsa really impressed me, as well as the 2 different BBQ Sauces on the table. Enjoyed the casual, local atmosphere - no Scottsdale pretense, just darn good food! Flat screens everywhere playing different sports give it the perfect atmosphere to NOT look at your phone and enjoy the good food, or drinks at the bar, Consider myself a foodie, and The Hammered Hog is definitely recommended!

I like this place. Ive come here here a few times with a group of photographers and models just to hang out and socialize. The meats are good, the prices are reasonable, and the staff is friendly. The group I come with can be pretty large sometimes, and they always handle it very well. Its not exactly upscale, but its not dirty and they dont mind us moving the tables around. Negatives: Its not the best food ever. Its kind of hit-and-miss with what you order, and some of the dishes seem a little uninspired. I wouldnt really hold that against a place like this though. Its just not quite a 5-star place, hence the 4-star rating. I suggest coming here if you want a decent semi-dive place to hang out with friends and get a bite to eat.

We went for ribs and they were out. The riblets suggested in their place were mostly fatty and grisly. The open face brisket sandwich toast was burnt... I mean black burnt. They brought new, slightly burnt toast. The hush puppies were tough and bland like they forgot to add the salt. The catfish was fishy tasting. I was raised on catfish and know its a more favorable Fish, but this was really fishy tasting. Maybe it was the time of day... 4pm... we wanted to beat the rush, but honestly it was like the unused food from the night before... not fresh. Sorry. I just was sad and disappointed after seeing it on a local restaurant review...

Some of the best bbq in North Phoenix. Looks like a dive bar from the outside but a quaint little bbq place and bar inside. Their "hammered hog" is awesome- its pulled pork with a blue cheese sauce. The apps are all really good. I like to grab the Coca-Cola taquitos or the jalapeño poppers (they are a heart attack but worth it). They do a great "free breakfast" on the weekend. Basically get any drink and you get scrambled eggs, hash browns, toast, and a few strips of bacon. Drink doesnt have to be alcoholic. There tends to be a little wait on the weekend mornings because of that.

I dont like complaining about Mom and Pop shops but this is deserved. the food is mediocre and we were asked if we wanted chips and salsa by our server, we said sure. after the chips were gone (small quantity) she asked if we wanted more we said yes. then when the bill came we noticed we were charged 9 bucks for the chips and salsa. w so we ended paying 34 dollars including tip for a ceaser salad and a plate with 2 hot dogs and fries and 3 waters. I will not be returning to this place again. to bad too. I love giving non chains my money.

First timer. Stopped by for a quick sandwich to-go. Ordered pulled pork -The Sammie with a side of blue cheese slaw. Slaw was fresh and tasted fine- I enjoyed the crispness of the cabbage. The pork was flavorless and mushy. There was a hint of smoke on the back-side of the palette but the overall profile was not impressive. BBQ sauce [hot style] was put together well.

It was oddly empty at 6 in the evening. The food was mediocre, at best. The mac and cheese needs help, but the greens were good and the meat was fine. The biggest hiccup was when we tried to go for breakfast, we discovered a paper sign taped to the front door reading "Closed for July. Vacation and maintenance." Seems like this place might struggle with consistency.

Stop by on the weekend for their free breakfast. Yes, its free! Well... nothing is ever free, you have to buy a drink... big whoop. They have TVs everywhere as you would expect, a great grill and friendly staff. It looks a little rough on the outside, but everything is clean and great on the inside. Its definitely worth a visit.

Ribs are good, pulled pork is good, popcorn pigs are good, hots links were good and pulled beef was good. The BBQ sauces were great. Side dishes...not worth getting, especially when they are actually an extra $1 each when included with the meal.

What a suprise, just driving by saw the neon and wow. The very attractive, "Roxanne" was a wonderful bar maid, putting up with and laughing at the lame old guys. Yes, I am old too. Over all great food and service!

It was better than average a couple of years ago in their old location. It has gone way downhill. I had a brisket platter, it tasted more like a roast than BBQ. At least roast is tender and flavorful.
