My hubby and I, finally found a place that he can enjoy his Texas BBQ, just like back home! Hes from the BBQ Capital of the World - Lockhart, Texas! If you are from Texas, and miss your good ol smoked brisket, and the like, then you need to come here, and give it a try, yall! We first discovered it by a Living Social, online coupon when they first opened. We always came here thereafter, whenever my daughter was at ballet school lessons. Finally came back again, and its just as good as it was before. They serve their bbq, just like they do in Lockhart! It is a little hole in the wall type of place, and its close to the airport. Not such a great area, but youre only there to get your grub on! The parking lot is small, and shared with a barber shop. There is minimal seating inside, and tables out back. You order by weight from the menu written above the counter. We have tried both sausages, brisket, and pulled pork. Its all delish! Havent tried the other meats. The tater salad is yummy! They dont throw all kinds of stuff in it like some places do. Also, the pinto beans are good too. And, last, but not least, the banana pudding! You cant leave there without trying it. Oh, and if ya dont know what the bread, pickles, onion and mayo are for, then ya aint from Texas!

Pros: -The meat!!! Smoked daily, so always good and fresh. -The green beans. Definitely not made vegetarian friendly. This is a BBQ house, after all. Cons: -They close early. Apparently most of their business is at lunch. -If you dont get here early theyll be out of some meats. The reason for this is not a con: they smoke their meats DAILY- you will never get old, reheated stuff here. -The bread. While its not bad, its just regular old bread. (Danken Trail in Monroe, LA has me spoiled to great house-made-daily toast.) Texas BBQ House makes real, good BBQ. Let me tell you about the brisket: I know Ive had some just as good at some point... but I sure cant remember where or when! Ive never had better, thats for sure. They sell it three ways: Moist (all the fat), Lean (fat scraped off the top), and "Cutters Choice", between the other two. Get it how you like it, you cant go wrong. As other reviews mention, the "Texas po-boy" is enough meat for at least two folks. Sausage, brisket, AND pulled pork. No veggies, but is that really why youre here? Next time Ill get this sandwich and split it with someone. If you are in the area and need a BBQ fix, come here!

This place is simply awesome. Great ribs and brisket. Surely the best brisket in Phoenix. This place serves traditional "Texas Style" BBQ. Anyone who cant see that simply doesnt know what they are talking about. My Dads family is from Mesquite, TX. Spending a lot of time there in the summers, Ive had my fair share of Texas BBQ and this place is right in line with that style of BBQ and service. I am originaly from Memphis, TN. Lived there 26 years. When you live in a place like that...barbecue is basically in your blood. This is the one place in Phoenix I have been to since I moved here 9 years ago that I feel really does it right. The meat peparation is so that you almost dont even need sauce, although I recommend their hot barbecue sauce. Its great! Keep up the good work guys!! I cant wait to come back. One negative I will point out is the neigborhood in that area is pretty sketchy. Its not unsafe to go there by any means, but it is worth noting that it is not an area I would recommend walking around after dark. Worth the risk for the food.

I use to love this place when they first open. Today for some reason the customer service was not that great the young lady that should have been helping me was more focused on the person behind me she kept talking to the lady behind me, which is poor customer service if thats your friend call her on your break. I thought I was getting 1/3 pound of moist brisket it was not. I paid for a meal thats over price she did not give me my cup for my drink. they always out of the cream corn, they green beans are not prepared by a Texans cook I know what food from the south taste like. I feel like I wasted my time in line and my money today was my last time spending my money there. time to pull out Ms. Texas grill.

I finally made it here. It seemed that every time Ive wanted to go its been closed for one reason or another. I made it just before 5, and I was told all they had left was brisket. So the limited menu was severely limited. But, it was delicious! The brisket was super moist, paired with their homemade barbecue sauce, just perfect. I would have liked to try some other meats, but Ill try next time. Inside, the place is small, just a few tables. I took mine to go, meat wrapped in deli paper and placed in a paper bag. By the time I walked home, it was still warm.

Okay 2 Stars only because I really really really wanna love this place, but they are always out of nearly everything! I have dragged my family here a total of 3 times now only to leave embarrassed (that it was my idea to go there), hungry, and annoyed. The food that we did get--Once Upon a Time--truly was delicious except for the side veggies, which were kinda mediocre. Honestly, I would love to try this place 1 more time but theyre either closed or out of everything. I dont know how one runs a restaurant this way. Utterly confused in Phoenix :/

Im not sure why people rave about this place. It is right by my house, so Ive eaten here several times but Ive never liked it because the BBQ is sub par and the sides are really bad. Even their "moist" brisket is dry and flavorless. Their BBQ sauce is like the bad bottled kind - thick, sugary, gloppy. Gross. The sides are just terrible. The potatoes in the potato salad are half raw. The macaroni in the mac n cheese is overcooked. There are FAR superior BBQ spots in the Phoenix area, dont waste your money here.

AWESOME BBQ. You can get brisket however you like, with fat, some fat or no fat. The marble on their brisket is a work of art! I have not had a bad meal here and everyone I have taken wants to go back. They have great spicy BBQ sauce too. I have to say, out of all the BBQ stops in the valley, this one is the best I have been to and I LOVE BBQ. I tooks a few guys from work here Friday. They have a new Poboy sammich which is brisket, pulled pork and sausage. Damn heart attack on a bun but YES it was amazing!

Ran by Texans who know who know what they are doing. Superb slow cooked brisket and ribs. Its sold by weight with a few sides, we like the cream corn. If youre picking up to go in the evening, its worth calling ahead. They close once the brisket is sold out and Ive seen this happen as early as 5:30pm. Little Miss BBQ on University gets all the attention these days, but this is a very good BBQ joint with almost identical meats and cooking methods without the 90 minute wait.
