You know... I could have SWORN that I wrote this review last year (2010) ... because thats when we visited... Oh well; it was only a year ago, and my memory isnt THAT bad LOL. We decided to stop for lunch on our way out of town (headed home). We had asked a couple people where they suggested going for pizza - we wanted a quick and easy lunch - and it was a toss-up between here and another place around the corner that sounded less sit down - which we needed, since wed already checked out of where we were staying - so we chose Cuginos. Well, it looked very nice from the outside- but inside - there were several damaged spots on the walls and the chair cushions were stained and needed to be re-upholstered. (Clearly we should have hopped online before we headed into town to check reviews; looks like since some time in 2008 the reviews are not so favorable...) We ordered a small pizza because it was just us and our (then) three year old. Well, Im dang glad I had his backpack with us, and in it some fresh fruit and veggies or we would have been HUNGRY on the ride home. While the price was reasonable for a skin town - the portion was SMALL - so the value just wasnt there. It wasnt the worst pizza Ive ever had - but it wasnt the best. They do have kids menus (we didnt order off it though) and crayons, and the server was nice; nothing outstanding, but also nothing horrible like Ive read in other reviews. We didnt have a wait to sit down because it was Monday at lunch ;) so I dont know what the wait is like when it is busier. Were headed back up to Steamboat at the end of this week, and if were thinking pizza Ill be doing my research first and heading somewhere else.

My boyfriend and I went here once over the summer. We have been long time steamboat locals and have experience cuginos when it WAS still delicious. Our summer experience was sub par, but we decided to give it another chance last night. Needless to say our sub par experience was carried through. We sent back THREE of our dishes. First, the bread they served as a starter seemed presoaked in oil as you could literally squeez the oil out. Second our fried raviolis were extremely dry and lacked flavor. Third, my boyfriends lasagna was essentially a cheesewad surrounded with little marinara. Fourth, my noodles were very very undercooked. We sent the lasagna and the noodles back as well as a starter ceasar salad. My "corrected" noodles were a dripping oil slick when returned, and I felt very sick when I got home. To top it off, we had thought we would get the happy hour prices on drinks, but as we were sitting in the dining room and not AT THE BAR happy hour prices didnt apply to us??? NOT worth the $100+ we spent. Service was great. Food was not.

We had a great experience here. We were a large and intimidating party to say the least, 7 adults and 7 children ranging from 1 to 9. But our server, Ian, was fantastic and handled everything with ease. We were seated in a beautiful patio with the Yampa River flowing nearby. Ian brought chalk for our kids to decorate the patio, which kept them entertained til their food came. One in our group had significant food allergies, so the chef personally came out to our table to discuss what he could and couldnt eat, and made him a personalized dish. The food was delicious as well, and well worth every penny. The pasta was handmade in-house, and possibly the best Ive ever tasted. Even the kids food was high quality. We ate at several places while in Steamboat Springs, but this was my favorite. Usually the wait staff of the various restaurants we visited seemed relieved to see a party of our size leave, but Ian seemed genuinely happy to have been our server, and made us feel welcomed. What a great place to eat! What excellent service!

We ordered 8 entrees to go from Cuginos last night. Several ordered the cheese ravioli for $20 and the lasagna for $18. The containers were half the size of a normal one so super tiny portions. The ravioli came with 4-5 tiny ravioli that had a deflated oily look. I thought at least if it was homemade and delicious that should make up for the mini portion. Sadly it did not taste homemade. It was rubbery and barely edible. We got the lasagna as well. Next to no cheese, dry and insanely salty. This ended up in the trash. My 12 year old son order spaghetti and meatballs. It was pasty red sauce on dry noodles with again, the super salty meatball. He is not picky but couldnt eat this. Sadly, the best thing was the simple side salad which was ice burg lettuce, a few cucumber and a cherry tomato. They need a super overhaul. I felt I should save people the time and money and post this.

Less than ok experience. Appetizer did not include enough food for everyone so I had to order more for all of my friends. There were no tables even set up when I arrived at 8pm on a Tuesday. Food was mediocre. I had to mix my own salad and the wine was a level below Trader Joes two buck chuck. The paper advertised 50 percent off wine but we were told by the waiter that the prices listed on the menu were already discounted. Really? I think we were mislead. And tricked into going to a restaurant that didnt want to serve food. This was no taste of Italy as the paper described. My entree tasted alright only because I was so hungry. I am only writing this review because this restaurant is not up to par with the quality I hope to find in steamboat. I could have spent my money better. Beware.

Went here for my 30th birthday dinner and was very let down. Once seated we waited for 20 minutes without being acknowledged by any wait staff. No drink order, not even a "sorry abouth the delay someone will be right with you." Wait staff just kept rushing by our table. Menu had food stains all over it. Party sitting across from us was delivered the wrong food and chef came out to apologize. Other partys food was brought out and all of the strombolis were burned. A couple in the corner was there when we arrived and we assumed they were also waiting on service since there was nothing on their table. Turns out for the entire 20 minutes we waited to order they were waiting on their check. We decided at that time to walk out. I would not go back.

2 nights ago, 20 minutes for drinks, another 30 minutes for appetizers, another 20 for salads, it took a 1.5 hours for our dinner order. Our waiter would spend an extended amount of time going back and forth with one table instead of cycling through his tables. Once we finally left, we let the manager and owner know of the bad experience and the cook/owner interrupted us constantly and refused to apologize. They even lied about a family member putting his hands upon a waitress/manager while letting them know about the poor service, harassed the phone number we made the reservation with and said theyre making a police case of it. No respect and our family had very high expectations for this restaurant. And as they told us "Good Luck!"
