Me and my friend went out for a late lunch today before he had to go to work. We decided to choose Mr. Tokyo! I had never been before but heard great things about it so I decided we had to give it a try. Our Waitresses name was Leslie. She gave us a great service with a wonderful smile. Never was my drink or my guests glass fell empty. Its small with a Modern twist in the this Pineville. When we placed our food order the appetisers came out blazingly fast and delicious too. When it came time for the entrée the sushi rolls I chose were absolutely stunning. Me and my friend ate quite happily for a while. . . That is until I made the sinful Mistake of ordering a roll to many. I am a big fan of no waste left behind. But when I asked my server what the surcharge for extra is she said theres no true system here they just look and guesstimate. Which she got what looked like a senior employee or family of the restaurateurs she came and said for 10 pieces left it would be $10 but if I ate 3 pieces more it would only be $3. For that made no sense I enquired about how she came with such a price? Which would have almost been as much as double the cost of my entire meal. She said "Its just based on principle" So me being me I begrudgingly ate 3 more and left a little more fuller then intended. But besides that little quarrel over all the restaurant was a great bite and a great place for a amazing price. I would definitely recommend this to the sushi lover! But beware dont order what you cant finish or you might be in for a surprise surcharge or two.

Today, Dec 17th, we had very bad experience at Mr. Tokyo. Weve been there many time and never found the service to this bad. We (My wife and kids) walked in with two hungry children. We were told to wait for the table to be madr ready for us. The front of the house lady then started flossing in front of us unashamedly not even paying attention to the fact that we may be turned away by this gross gesture she was showing standing besides the sushi bar. I thought it could an Asian thing and we were willing to forgive her for that. Then we asked for a menu paper where we could indicate what we wanted, so we will have some food ready for the children as soon as we got at the table. But when we tried to mark on the paper standing at the desk our desired food, the front of house satff rudely told us, "You can go sit on the bench to do that". This person was very unpleasant, no courtesy and ruined our day for us. If the owner ever gets to read this, we dont have anything against her, but i think it would really benefit the business if she was be a bit more sensitive to customers and intentionally friendly. The food is very very good!!

Went for the unlimited Sushi buffet. Great value! Along with the buffet, you can choose unlimited appetizers and other side dishes as well. The Sushi during the lunch buffet was ok. huge selection, but flavor/texture was not comparable to dedicated Sushi restaurants in Charlotte. A lot of fried/tempura options too in which I prefer my Sushi to taste "clean" and "light." To be fair, comparing to other lunch Sushi Buffets, this place serves the biggest portions, loved that appetizers were available on the buffet list, and the Sushi, although not great, but better than Rusans lunch Buffet. During lunch, the restaurant is usually filled, so a small wait might be needed. Service was good. Straight forward.

I was pleasantly surprised by nearly every part of our visit. The restaurant was very clean and the staff were very attentive. My girlfriend and I both opted for the all you care to eat option, considering the price was cheaper than 2 specialty rolls. Every one of the rolls we ordered looked and tasted great. A few of the roll slices were a little on the huge side, but no big deal. We were hoping to sit at the sushi bar, but they said it "wasnt open for seating", which seemed a little odd, but no biggie. Overall, the meal was very good and I expect we will be back again soon!

The place is clean and is designed well. The staff are very nice, professional and quick. However due to the popularity and demand of an all you can eat sushi restaurant, expect the food to come slower than what you are used to at a restaurant. The food comes in vast quantities and the quality of it is good too. The sushi rice is delicious and highly improves the taste of the sushi. All the sushi items in the menu looks and taste great and I would highly recommend the place. It deserves the 5 stars if you understand that making large quantities of food takes time.

Horrible... no air conditioning... it was 80 degrees inside this place. Super slow service. Food and sushi was mediocre. And the best part .... 16.99 pp for "all you can eat, but make sure you clean your plate boys and girls cause we charge extra if you dont" Get all the way outta here with that. I actually left HUNGRY because I was afraid I wouldnt be able to finish another whole plate.... and since they dont have their "leftover rate" advertised on the menu I had no idea how much they would have charged. Is this even legal??

Ive been to this restaurant with my friends and I sticked with it. I had problem with seafood and undercooked food so I didnt like eating sushi. However, when I knew this place, I really love their deep fried sushi. The only this restaurant made me feel bad was staffs attitudes. That day one girl took care for us. She served slowly. When we asked for tissue papers, I thought she counted how many of us then she gave exactly how many tissue papers.

Good sushi, but every time I go in they use more and more rice on the nigiri, to the point where its unedible. If i wanted a rice ball I would just order one. I understand they are trying to save money and fill you up with rice, but its getting a little rediculous. Everything else is delicious though! Im a regular even though I have to not order my favorite type of sushi for fear of getting a baseball size lump of rice with laser thin cut fish.

AYCE sushi. Whats more to say. Its worth it if you can down more than two specialty rolls and an appetizer. They will charge you extra if you over order and cant finish your food. They also charge $0.50 extra for sashimi vs. nigiri. Not exactly sure why. My thought is they probably give you a thicker cut of fish with sashimi but Id rather have them give me the same slice as a nigiri with no rice and no extra charge. Lastly, the service was eh.

Came to Charlotte for a job training and we were recommended this place as the "best sushi" in town. I approached it expecting it to be neutral, I was wrong. This is by far one of the best, freshest, sushi joints ive ever been to. Reminded me of little Tokyo in L.A. Fresh, clean, awesome selections and you definitely get alot for what you pay for. My co workers and i left in a sushi coma. Good stuff
