BEST BBQ IN THE BAY? Yes- Ive been to all the big BBQ restaurants in Tampa Bay (Rivers, Hog, Mission- these are just nicknames of course) as well as a few smaller ones, and I think this is my favorite. Who wouldve thought such an awesome (yet easily passable) restaurant existed within the shadows of all these high-end businesses in this area? And it still feels undiscovered! LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT THE FOOD Our three-meat platter included beautifully smoked and roasted Sausages, Chicken, and Brisket. The Chicken and Brisket were so soft and flavorful on their own- no extra sauces were needed. The Sausage casing had a great bite to it revealing another soft and delicious filling. The Mac & Cheese and Collard Greens were more regular but still worked greatly with the meat. The sauce is mustard-based which Im normally not a fan of... but it added a great tangy dimension to the meat (although unnecessary). HAS A COMMUNITY FEEL TO IT Youve probably passed Konans neighborhood many times on your way to I-Plaza. Do yourself a favor and embrace this area even if it doesnt look to be the cleanest. The young adults behind the counter were chopping the Meat to Beyonces music which was blasting into the simple dining area. While we dined, many people walked in from the neighborhood and took their items to go. I definitely plan to return.

Who would’ve thought such AN AWESOME (YET EASILY PASSABLE) RESTAURANT existed within the shadows of all these high-end businesses in this area? Embrace this neighborhood; the teens behind the counter chopped the meat to BEYONCE’S MUSIC WHICH POURED LOUDLY into the dining area while many walked in from the street and took their orders to go. Excellent food and service. The owner John and his team are amazing. They are so friendly and helpful when I was deciding what to order since this is my 1st visit. Not only they gave me great recommendations, they also gave me an extra side to sample. As a flight attendant, I travel multiple cities and countries each month, what makes this trip to Tampa extra special has got to be my visit to Konan Bbq. As Im typing this review, Im sipping down the pineapple sweet tea and remembering the wonderful experience at Konan today. Im definitely coming back with family and friends for more bbq in the future. Xoxo cant wait. PS: Since I was alone, I only tried the ribs and chicken today. Definitely highly recommended. Would love to come back with more ppl so I can try more dishes.

I came here today because I was looking for some good BBQ ribs here in Tampa and I definitely found some great ribs! Love the sauce even though it is not made there I saw them refilling the containers however I dont care because it was perfection- ribs were so juicy and smokey. I would have given 5 stars but the service is not the best. Im not picky but service makes 50% of a food business. The two boys they had working like dogs in the front were yawning and just down rite exhausted. They mixed up two orders including mine,, forgot to give me a number.. they were so unbelievably busy in there I waited 30 minutes for one order of half rack of ribs.. if you want banging ribs- call Konans and order before hand!! If not- youll be sorry.

Decided to try this place Sunday for lunch after reading the reviews for weeks, and I must say they definitely lived up to the expectations. I got the chicken/sausage combo with collards , Mac, and potato salad, and it was all very tasty and delicious. The establishment is located in the heart of an area that may not be the best, but its gotten alot quieter over the years. Theyre located right by Roland Park Magnet school and Jefferson highschool. I was unable to try their dessert due to the fact that they were out, but I will definitely be returning frequently. Service by the young gentlemen at the counter was definitely better than most places. From my experience in Tampa, this is the best BBQ in town.

The food is good but their customer service is horrible. I feel like they only pick & choose who they give the thin end ribs to!! Ive ordered the thin end special on multiple occasions & every time I go they say they run out. But there will be people after me who come in and get it! So I guess it magically reappears when I leave. In order to get ur dream meal u have to be a personal favorite! I feel like thats discrimination & if they dont like to treat their customers equally then I will stop giving them my money!! They also are horrible with placing orders over the phone the line is constantly busy like they take it off the hook! What business likes to turn away business? Do better.

My coworkers and I ordered delivery twice, we only received our food once. We put in the order the the day before both times and were expecting our delivery to be on time the next day. The first time, it was over an hour late and we tried calling to get an update with no answer. The second time we ordered, we never received our food or a phone call from them saying whether our food was on the way. The food was great when we got it the first time, but they officially lost my business with their horrible customer service.

I am from Atlanta and was in Tampa for training for a month. I asked a co-worker where I could get some good bbq? When I pulled up here, I said Oh yeah I am about to eat some good food. This was the best bbq that I have had. It was fresh, tender and well seasoned. You really do need the sauce,however it is good. If your in Tampa you have to go and experience this good food and good people. Dont forget to get there famous pineaple tea!

Their product and friendliness deserve an award. The ribs were juicy in every bite, the green beans with potatoes were delicious and the slaw was fresh. The bbq sauce was unique. You need to try it. The lemonade and the pineapple sweet tea was as great as they say in other peoples reviews. Im coming back to try the beans, the chicken and the potato salad that apparently it was so good they ran out of it.

I went here for the first time today and it was really fantastic. The ribs, chicken, sausage and pork were smokey and very tender. The sauce (which seems like a mustard base) was delicious and really worked well with the meats. The baked beans were super fantastic while the corn, potato salad and mac & cheese were fairly good (not as delicious as the beans and meats). I will absolutely be back for more!!

Holy moly this place is delicious! The 4.9 should be a 5star! Family run local bbq joint oozing with authenticity. Everything is made from scratch down to the sauce. Im not sure what was in the sauce but I was literally licking the tray. The proprietor is a very sweet and friendly lady who greeted us and asked how our meal was....fantastic of course. Get the chopped pork, ribs and brisket if available.
