Worst service ever out of the many Kobe Japanese Steakhouse visited all over the US. The dishes set out were greasy, looked like they had just been wiped off versus either hand washed and/or put through a dish-washer. The forks were nicely placed in the napkins, but also dirty. The salad that comes with the dinner was never served, and the cook was already putting meat on some plates when I asked where the salads were (5 minutes later the one overworked helper brought the salads). The salad had more water on it than the dressing. I actually poured almost 1/4 cup of water from the salad dish out before eating. I ordered steamed rice (which was also never brought out). During the process of flagging down 2 helpers (that were assisting other tables) to please bring my steamed rice..I was not paying attention to the cook that added a ton of Teriyaki sauce all over my steak. My son ordered the teriyaki steak (which was fine), but I did not want my steak smothered in teriyaki sauce. Another steak was recooked after I expressed my disdain, but by that time the entire family was finished eating and ready to leave. The place was also very smokey (the lights on the ceiling were barely visible due to the smoke). It appeared the vent above the grill was not working properly. I asked for the owner or manager to express my concern about how the service had apparently gone down since last visit a few months ago, and was told that neither the owner nor a manager was available. The table helper and cook apologized and took a few dollars off the bill, but we will never visit this location again. Not sure what happened, but pretty sure from reading other posts that this location is not going to improve, nor have any plans to improve customer service anytime soon.

This is the worst place EVER!! If you want to pay $300 for and $86 meal...then this is your place to go! Just like Allan, our experience was terrible. Everything was good until it came time to pay. The waitress was new and she had screwed up our order and charged us for the people whose bill came out to $133. So she told us she had voided it, no big deal. We keep our receipts and all of a sudden we look on the bank statement it shows $133, $104, and $86 all from KOBE!!! Furious we went back and were treated like **** by PEDRO!! I work retail so I understand how post voids work and when they will post and how it will be credited back and he continued to talk down on us and say we dont know what we were talking about. THEN we waited a couple of days to see if the charges would clear...nothing. So we call back and of course PEDRO aka EL STUPIDO.. answers the phone. We asked to talk to the manager and he says that they do not have a manager but they have an owner who comes in occasionally. We call back and a girl states that the manager would be there at a certain time so what do we do call back and when asked for the manager the worker handed the phone to pedro..as happened every other time after that. The only way this whole issue was resolved was because our bank filed a dispute and when telling pedro that we were going to file he says "Its okay, we have insurance" what an idiot. Needless to say if you want to be treated like **** and be charged for everybody else at your table and unknown charges..go here. otherwise stay FAR AWAY! and clearly were not the only people this happened to. hope this place goes out of business. ALSO FIRE THAT IDIOT PEDRO!!!!!!!!!!

So my girlfriend and I were searching for a good Japanese grill and decided to give this place a try. We walked in and asked for 2 seats at the Teppan Grill, the waiter said it would be about 30 minutes as they only had 2 chefs working that night and 4 of the 5 tables were packed with people, but there was 1 empty grill. So I asked if we could sit at a booth and wait, he said sure so we went in and sat down. After the appetizer and a few drinks, a family walked in and I guess "Please Wait to Be Seated" was too hard for them to comprehend and they went and just sat down at the empty table. After about 15 minutes of waiting, more people came in and the manager started to seat them at the same table. I saw the waiter walk over to the manger and try to explain that people were waiting 20 minutes for the table she is currently people that had just walked in. She didnt seem to care. I waited until the waiter came back to check on us and I asked him what was happening and he said "these people just walked in and sat down, I told my manager but she didnt think it was an issue" I said "Oh ok, thanks, check please." Probably one of the worst restaurant experiences I have ever had, not to mention the awful Japanese pop music that they had playing, I understand if you like that stuff but I dont want to listen to a Japanese girl signing about a butterfly dying to house music and techno. I will never come back to this place, We will perfectly nice and polite and they treated us like trash.

First of all, although San Antonio isnt exactly known for asian culture or dining, I and my fiance have found Kobe to be a bit of a gem here for Japanese food. We often frequent the location for their lunch specials which are quite reasonable priced; starting at $7 for simpler entrees with combinations going into the low teens if you feel a bit fancy/hungrier. Whether dining at the teppenyaki table or a regular table (which tends to be a bit faster due to not waiting on the chefs cart to arrive), the entrees always come out warm (for the things that are supposed to be) and tasty. For lunch plates our favorites are beef teriyaki and teriyaki salmon, sometimes accompanied by a sunset roll; a fairly large roll topped with real, sweet crab meat. Dinner entrees are a bit pricier but with more accompaniments as well. They have also changed to a wednesday 30% off dinners for military alongside their weekday "happy hour" with half off of rolls from 5:00-6:30. The location is fairly new, address searches still come up with the chinese restaurant formerly located there. Business there has picked up substantially since my review last year so be prepared for somewhat of a wait. Norman, who seems to have taken over as manager is friendly, very helpful and will spot the ocassional perk or two to you if you become a regular.... which I wholely recommend

I have only visited this restaurant twice over many years, so I can not comment on any consistencies or inconsistencies of this restaurant. After my first visit, I thought I would probably never come back, but a family event pulled me back in to this establishment. A major note about this review and the score I have given: the food is delicious - maybe not amazing - but still VERY delicious. Both times that I have visited I had absolutely no issues with the food or staff, and everything tasted fantastic. My problem lies in the presentation of the building, both inside and out. Its pretty bad - giving the impression that the owner/management doesnt care to put any money whatsoever towards their restaurants overall general maintenance. Paint the place. Clean up what little, pathetic amount of foliage exists. Replace the tile. Do SOMETHING to make it look like you care even a little about how your restaurant comes off looking to customers. Maybe that doesnt matter to certain people, but it does to me. I would like to visit here again for the food, but if they continue doing not even the bare minimum to keep their restaurant looking nice, I am afraid I will not visit again, nor will I be able to recommend them.
