Fantastic soups, great atmosphere, delicious sushi and superb sashimi. There were a few issues worth mentioning, though. Firstly, the place is a little difficult to find. Maybe it was because of the time (8:30ish)? But, its wedged in the back of the labyrinth of a boardwalk-esque strip called Boardwalk Bistro. After a bit, we found it, but some signs wouldve been nice (Im new to the area). Secondly, the waiter lost our order slip, so we had to wait a little longer for our food. Not a big deal at first, but when the bill came, he charged us $40 instead of $70, went to fix it and took a very, very long time to come back. We decided that warranted a little off the bill, and so he took 10% off. Lastly, even though tuna is pretty much hit-or-miss, this was a definite miss; the yellowtail was awful. Usually, when you think of yellowtail in sushi, youre thinking traditional amberjack. Nope, this was definitely tuna and it was definitely nasty. I suppose 10% off was enough to make up for it - considering we paid $63 instead of $70. In conclusion, well come back, but mostly for the various and delicious soups.

Ive heard alot of good things about this place, I went for my birthday 10/12/2010 with a bunch of friends. Spent quite a large sum of money, two bottles of sake (recommended to us and was pretty good by the waitress) Sashimi Appetizer, 2 Rainbow Rolls, Spider Roll, Sashimi A plate, Big Eye Tuna Sashimi, Kobe Beef Steak, Benji Roll, and a Summer Roll. Between 5 people. Easily spent close to $200.00. The tuna wasnt room temp, The spider roll made with soft shell crab was way below par. It was more along the lines of burnt shell and no crab, way over cooked and the roll was sloppily put together. All in all ive seen much worse as far as sushi restraunts go. The kobe beef steak was ordered medium rare err rare and was way over cooked it was in the well done range. That being said, nothing tasted bad but left unsatisfiyed. They may deserve a 2nd chance, as the only thing I really didnt enjoy was the spider roll. But Sushi Zushi ive been to over 30 times and never had any complaints always fresh always good.

My husband, our two-year-old son and I went here for sushi, despite mixed reviews on other sites. We were absolutely pleased. We are sushi lovers, but not sushi connoisseurs, so authenticity is second to flavor for us. Nice ambiance, clean and bright. It was very quiet when we arrived, a half hour before the dinner rush, but never got too loud. Our waitress was attentive and pleasant. As a couple wanting a good dinner and not having the option of leaving our son behind, we were apprehensive of bothering other diners on a Friday night, no matter how well behaved he might be; however, the waitress brought his dinner first without our asking, provided smaller silverware (the first place in SA to do that!), etc. and was very understanding and helpful. The food was very good, fresh, hot or cold as it was supposed to be, plenty of it, served promptly as it was prepared, and certainly affordable. We would love to come back!

Omg.. horrible experience! The menu was falling apart, the table was uneven, the setting was dark and gloomy. The food was warm. I asked for side of spicy mayo when order was placed, but got it after asking for it two times. Our food was brought to us, we had no silverware/chop sticks. No napkins. I had to get up get my own napkin cause they took too long to come back to table. We asked for silverware... they gave us forks... in a sushi place.. my friend asked for chop sticks, she was the inly one that got them.. we had to get up and get the rest... time to pay bill...geezz. took forever to bring us three checks. Instead of taking all together she took mine, took forever to come back... took theirs.. took forever to come back.. it was just a bad experience. We will not return!!

There was no one to set or even a welcom from the bar when we walked in. But no sign saying set your self. Had to wate for ever to give are order. Then the food was very slow and came at diffrent times. Are party got there at 7:45pm we did not get out of there till 9:20pm. My hubby had to gather the checks and get up to bring them to the waiter befor she remebered we where there. I waited tables off and on all my life. To are group the food was ok , price was ok, But If your going to tell me what your tip is and put it on my check then you better have earnd every cent!! That means my glass dose not go empty, nore the anyone at the tables. and you should have seen why are food was so late when you where no were to be seen. We will not go back.

I went out with a friend and my expectations were really low. Well, this place is actually pretty tasty. The ambiance isnt all that but the food is definitely something to brag about. Started off with a few appetizers and Asahi beer. The vegetable tempura is phenomenal, the batter is lighter than air and simply delicious. The Yakitori chicken was bursting with flavor and was a generous serving of two skewers. The sushi is light and fresh. I had both the Tiger roll and the 281 roll and the sushi didnt disappoint. Friendly and quick service. The view is pretty pitiful outside due to construction. Definitely will be back for the vegetable tempura.

This is one of my favorite sushi places in San Antonio. Definitely more authentic than Sushi Zushi. I am a little surprised to see the food scored a 29, but great for Koi Kawa! Everything is very fresh and presented well. The service is good, and the atmosphere is perfect for a slow, leisurely dinner. It is tucked away on Boardwalk Bistro. You can walk outside on the patio after dinner and see ducks playing by the river. I am not the most adventurous sushi eater, so I usually get a tuna or salmon roll. You can tell it is very high quality. I also recommend the Green Tea Ice Cream, Agedashi Tofu, and anything Tempura.

I couldnt be more satisfied with my experience. When I had eaten here over a year ago it was under old management, and it suffered from disorganization, long waits, and somewhat disappointing food. Coming in today however was like a different restaurant entirely. Quick, courteous service, a beautiful view of the river, and lovely atmosphere. The lunch service was not only cheap, but it blew out my expectations, with the Best Ramen (Pork) Ive had in San Antonio and Austin. My girlfriends teriyaki chicken was awesome also. They pulled me back in, and I am looking forward to coming back.

Quality. As with any asian restaurant the fountain drinks arent all that special. Thats about the only bad thing I can say about this place. The servers are very polite and Ive not had a problem getting a menu item explained. The food is incredible and a little delicate, so its quality over quantity. If you come here, be sure to try out their lunch menu. Youll get a taste of many different items the restaurant serves at a good price. It makes for great leftovers if you fill easily or want to finish later. My favorite place in all of San Antonio.
