My mother and I recently went to this new sushi restaurant to celebrate her birthday due to our other local favorites being closed. When you first enter Osaka, you are greeted to a chorus of workers shouting "welcome" in Japanese, but is done with very little zest and quickly becomes an irritant after you have sat down and heard it 8 or 9 times. Once seated, we were treated to some of the most abhorrent service I have ever seen coupled with flat out bland and uninspiring sushi. First, we asked what was particularly good for that evening, a standard question at the sushi bar, and were answered with "everything, its sushi." Mind you, this was after our server had answered with a dumbfounded look as she searched for an answer, and then looked for the chefs for help. This was quickly forgiven though once we had ordered and our food had arrived. What hadnt arrived yet was any plate to place our sushi and wasabi on or a bowl for our soy sauce, leaving us to simply stare at our food while we waited for such basic essentials. After trying to flag down a waiter numerous times, we finally had to leave our table and hunt down our server to obtain the needed items for continuing our meal. Now to the food. Simply put, it is uninspired. Except for the salmon, you couldnt tell one fish from another, because the flavors were all just not there. Even the eel, normally a sunburst of flavor if done correctly, was simply lacking in taste. During our meal, we were then treated to the show of 2 employees cussing each other out, proceeding to drop fbombs at each other as they left the kitchen in a huff, turning the heads of every person in the restaurant. A final note- Sitting at the bar places you in the middle of the server business. You are treated to the joys of a cheap diner; chefs shouting our order names and the table they are going to, servers reaching around you to get at the food, and general discussion of restaurant business. For the price of $50-$70 for a diner for two, without drinks, you are treated to the service of highway diner quality. In short, avoid this place like the plague, there is simply far better sushi within walking distance.

Came for a birthday. Will never return again! Rude, rude, rude, did I say rude? ! Ordered meals, and never received rice or salad as said in description. I asked where rice was "I didnt ask for it, so they assumed I didnt want it". Um... Its part of the meal, why would I ask for it? Food was okay. The meat I had tasted more like liver than BBQ beef, talk about onions, they used at least 2! The sushi rolls werent bad, pretty good... The soup was cold, and the salad dressing was made out of onions as well. I asked for a birthday song to be sung ... You know for embarrassment purposes.. and instead of being discreet the waiter comes over talks over the table and says "you know you have to pay for birthday song, right? " comes back a second time, "what was his name again?" and for the 3rd time I was fed up... "What desert again?" CHOOSE ONE LADY The bill comes... I was over charged, like all over the place! This place was not good, so bad I had to leave a review.

I go to Osaka because its very hard to find legit sushi in this town. Ive been to the restaurant multiple times but my last visit has me searching for a new place. As soon as we arrived it was bad. The hostess and employee continued their conversation as we stood in front of them without acknowledgment, followed by seating us in literally the worst spot in the whole restaurant. (why, because Im Asian?), I never order all that Americanized sushi, always order by pairs and my waiter had no clue what I was saying. Since when do Japanese restaurants not serve miso soup with dinner? Waiter brought my husbands meal, said nothing to me about my meal. My meal finally arrived 15 minutes later with no explanation, no apologies. Hands down the worst dining experience ever. If you are looking for good food with a dash of service this is not the place. I will never go back.

Osaka is my go to for all my favorite asian dishes! They have a fantastic sushi menu, have never had anything bad here and their prices are very reasonable for the quality of food and portion sizes. Last night I found, and over heard others who would agree, that the staff was especially attentive and knowledgable keep up the good work Sean! Timing for the food was on point and came out in a reasonable amount of time for as packed as the restaurant was, the entire sushi bar was FULL. I find it hard to believe many of the negative reviews i have seen online, especially when someone has only EVER given reviews for "bad" experiences. Great job Osaka Staff! Yall cant seem to disappoint and are always taking such excellent care of your customers and working extra hard when we come in no matter how busy it is!!!

After an hour and a half wait our cook finally decided to arrive at our table. It was 8:00 at this point, so I asked to speak to the manager, but he/she was not there. I spoke with the staff and told them that I expected some sort of compensation for our wait time, yet none was given when the bill came. I will NEVER go there again or recommend it to anyone. They need to figure out how to serve people, and if they are down one cook, then dont seat people at the cooking tables. Also, the hand soap dispenser was broken in the bathroom so there was no hand soap in the bathroom....at a restaurant that has high prices meals. Horrible.

Calm atmosphere, and good food. Went with a friend of mine and we were both pleased with the service and quality of the food. We both had bento box lunches and I can assure you it was plenty with the portions they serve you. That considered, the price is very reasonable! I had the pork katsu bento lunch and added curry sauce on the side and it was very yummy! I dont know much about sushi, but I did enjoy what came in the meal. The gyoza couldve been a little less crunchy, though thats a personal preference. Overall, I definitely recommend it.

My girlfriend & I went here for lunch today and were very pleased. We were promptly and pleasantly greeted and offered a table. The waiter was immediately there with menus and to take our drink orders. He was also very nice and had good humor. We both ordered the sushi lunch specials for $9.95 and it was good and nice sized portions. I think we have a new sushi lunch spot right on Broadway! The only thing that was not perfect was the restrooms could use a little extra cleaning but otherwise a great lunch experience.
