If youre looking for French food, this is not going to disappoint. First, it is in a strip mall where several other restaurants are located, but dont let the location fool you: it is good. Second, the price is right. Expect 2 entrees, 3 drinks (for 2 people), appetizer, and dessert to be around $140 - $180, plus tip. For a really nice dinner, this is worth the price. Third, the service is matched to the food --- white table cloth meal and upscale service. Fourth, the bar area is nice and not loud. Fifth, the clientele seemed to be well-to-do, a tad older than the 30 somethings, and well refined. A few couples / friends seemed to be regulars and were obviously just having appetizers and several cocktails / wine. A few younger couples were there obviously having a nice dinner. Sixth, this is not a cargo shorts or Levis kinda place. It is not a coat and tie either. Business casual would be appropriate and anything less is under dressed for the atmosphere. Seventh, kids would be OK but why you would want to put them through an ordeal to not disturb everyone else who would be there to have a nice, QUITE dinner is beyond me. There is an outdoor patio and kids would be more appropriate out there but again, why? Eighth, reservations would be advisable. Ninth, the chefs tasting menu would be something to seriously consider. Tenth, it is goooood. The real deal. I had the veal and my dinner companion had the sea bass, and both were excellent ... EXCELLENT. The appetizers were the mushroom brie (first rate!) and the Caesar salad, another winner. All were prepared as it should have been, seasoned well, and served as in any fine dinning restaurant. There is a vegetarian option so that is a plus. Excellent all the way around. Cant go wrong with this one.

We dined at Cadot on last night, a Wednesday. I think the food was outstanding, and we ought to know something about that, since my wife and I eat out every night and at one high end place every week. Plus, I used to get raves on my own cooking ability. At the beginning, I was served a perfect martini on the rocks, with Beefeater. The bartenderess came over to my table to tell me that she didnt need the drink recipe I sent over, because she always made an in and outer. True, the drink was perfect (according to my standard). I always judge a lot about a restaurant by the bread they serve. Here I found the perfect French bread with unsalted butter. By far the best bread in Dallas. The menu is extensive enough and Ide say about 50% French with the remainder Continental and USA. (Thank God, no sushi). Our entrees were perfect. I had the flat iron steak and my wife the trout. The desserts were great as well. I didnt look at the wine list, since my wife doesnt drink and I trusted them to serve me a nice red, which they did do. I have forgotten what it was. (Maybe the two martinis clouded my memory). At any rate, if you like good food, try them out. The prices are on the high side of reasonable, but about what you would pay in any other restaurant of class.

I will never set foot in this place again. Made reservation to take my wife there for a nice Valentines sweetheart dinner. We arrived there early and the place was almost empty; i.e. plenty of tables. They stuck us in a very small two-seater table right next to the kitchen door (very noisy with waiters going in and out, noise from the kitchen, etc.) and though the restaurant is romantically dark, there was a very bright ceiling spotlight shinning right on us I assume so the waiters could see their way in and out of the kitchen. I asked the waitress for a different table. She left and I asked again when she returned. My requests were being ignored. Finally, I walked over to speak to the manager and she literally yelled at me in my face, "I DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH YOU!!!" If it hadnt have been Valentines evening, I would have gotten my wife and we would have left but we stayed and stuck it out. Food was good, hence the one star rating I give it, but we left with the feeling that this place is cliquish. If youre not a regular there, they stick you in the worst table in the house. The management and staff at this joint totally ruined what I wanted to be a nice Valentines dinner for my wife and I. Instead it was a nightmare. Never again.

The wife and I have made 3 visits to Cadot, and all were quite enjoyable. You better have an open bankbook though and dont expect generous portions of food. For starters, the wife had escargot and I the duck terrine. The terrine was just fantastic, only wish thered been more of the pickled cabbage garnish. I have never been a fan of escargot, but I must say those little nuggets of snail flesh drowning in a rich winy sauce were addictive. The wife had the special of bouillabaisse and I the braised short rib. Hers was quite tasty and so was mine, except for two issues. The rib was dry and tough on one end about a third of the way across. The rest became much more palatable. The silky puree also had a lump of cooked yet unprocessed potato, which Im sure was not intended. We shared a soufflé for desert - Grand Marnier, but I was hard pressed to detect any of that liqueur. Also we could have withstood a more substantial dessert, but that was our choice. Yes we will return to Cadot for special occasions, but maybe with other choices in mind.

Really nice French/European food, very nice posh, quiet atmosphere. IMHO, reviewers complaining about price/value are missing the point. This is a wonderful place to go for a special lunch, or VERY special ($$$) dinner. Our server was very courteous and the food was very good and high quality. If youre not used to European food, you might not like this place. No enormous portions or super-sweet desserts. This is refined and high-quality food. We had lunch here. The chicken crepes were very good, as was the portobello mushroom ciabatta. The pan-seared ahi tuna salad was very good, although a bit too salty for my tastes. We split the apple tart three ways for dessert and it was very good and understated — not sweetened, but tasty, with a little scoop of ice cream on the side. The portion size on the turkey crepe was a little on the small side, but I wasnt super hungry.

This is the best French Restaurant in Dallas with a most amazing atmosphere. The food is absolutely home made fabulous. I have clients that come from OK every month to eat there after we had a lunch meeting. I also treated one of my local clients for a closing dinner and without fail they went back! Jean-Marie, the Chef takes personal attention to each table and Gerard is an outstanding entertainer. You cannot obtain a more authentic French Home Made Cuisine in town and the price is extremely reasonable as to what other restaurants charge. The ambiance is romantic and you can dinner on the patio also for more privacy... Just simply 5 out of 5! Francois Bouville

My wife and I have been patrons of Cadot the year it opened. I had read that it had been voted the Best New Restaurant of 2009 in D Magazine. We have taken my brother there when he visits from Boston. My brother is an accomplished chef having learned the trade during his junior year in college at the Sorbonne in Paris. In the utmost compliment he says Cadot is as good as any French/Continental restaurant hes been at. If available, I recommend the Lobster ravioli as an appetizer. The bread is out of this world! Must have the Grand Marnier Souffle for dessert. Our favorite server is Fred.
