Everything is great about this place. Service is great, atmosphere is always fun from mingling with other people. The only way I could see if you dont like it is if you simply just want to eat and dont want to be entertained at all. Yeah, they take the time to prepare the food there in front of you, but you know its FRESH.. something that cant be said for all restaurants. It should be noted that sometimes, when you dont make a reservation and just walk in, you could be waiting an hour-hour and a half. If you know you want to go there.. MAKE A RESERVATION, especially Friday/Saturday nights. However, I could care less - I usually have some other friends with me and we have a drink at the bar while waiting. Others are probably not like me, and would get cranky after a long wait. Me.. I dont mind it at all. I love the food. The cook is usually always willing to make adjustments for you. I say usually just because Im sure there are some outlandish requests out there :) Short and sweet version: for a good time and great food, come here. Great place for groups of 3 or more. Wouldnt come here on a first date, though. It can be a long wait, and it can sometimes be loud with everyone in the room, making it hard to talk.

First time visiting and it was probably the worst Hibachi restaurant Ive ever been to. Where to begin... 1. Ordered our drinks. Asked for rum and sprite. Got sprite. Asked them to fix it. Still got charged for the sprite. 2. They only have 2 kinds of sushi (California Roll and something else). It was probably the worst Ive ever eaten, and thats even considering being adventurous and trying some gas station sushi one time. 3. Their ginger salad was super bitter. My girlfriend and I both typically like the ginger salad, but neither of us ate ours. 4. The veggies they serve with the meal was cucumber and onion, not the normal variety of veggies usually served at these places (which typically include mushrooms and other veggies). 5. The shrimp and steak and chicken were all very salty. I think they use way too much soy sauce. 6. The waiter thinks his job is done when he brings your drinks/salad. Chef had to call them over a couple times to get rid of the bowls and such. Trying to get a refill is tedious. If you are looking for hibachi - Id try someplace else. I seriously doubt it could be worse than this place.

I had the fortunate pleasure to attend Genji Steakhouse on Sawmill Rd. this evening. I have been to several Hibachi style restaurants, so I was well aware of what to expect. Believe me, I was absolutely blown away. We had Chef Will at our table and our server was named Erin. These two were a dynamic duo that could not be beat. A couple of the guests at the table refused to get into the show, and when they refused to catch an egg in their mouths, Erin made a valiant effort to catch a large chunk from nearly across the room. It was hilarious. Chef Wills skills with the tools of his trade are superior to any Hibachi chef I have ever been in front of. His sense of humor and timing were brilliant. The food was outstanding. Usually, in an environment such as this, you get either good food and bad service or bad food and good service, not here! Here you get the whole package. Thanks Erin and Chef Will. You guys not only made the best food, you backed it up with excellent service. (and if Chef Will asks you what the onion volcano is, dont say, Its a volcano! Its a trap, tell him its an onion.) ;-)

This place is not a Japanese Steak House. It is so bad. I will just tell you a few things. 1. My salad was frozen and they asked me would I like some soup instead...I said "No I would like a non frozen salad." 2. Their yum yum sauce is in a squirt bottle like it came off a truck and it is not good. 3. They do not serve veggies as a part of the meal. 4. (Probably most important) They cross contaminate the food. Cooking the veggies after they cook the steak on the same burner. 5. The fried rice is not made fresh it came out pre-made and they just warmed it up. 6. The place was ghetto cats out front smoking black and milds smh. People at the table just cussing and carrying on with kids all around. I usually go to Sakura at Easton for Japanese Steakhouse food so maybe I am just spoiled. I was in the Sawmill area during lunch time so I gave Genji a shot. I will never go here again that is for sure and if you reading this review I suggest you do the same.

I have been here multiple times. Food is always good, it is always clean and everyone is always very nice. Last night, though, they went over the top. My husband and I came here after being VERY disappointed in a restaurant we had reservations at and left before we even drank the water. We came to Genji because it was on the way home and have never been disappointed when we went there before. We were initially at the bar waiting for our table and we explained to the bartender (newer female) and another lady I assume was the night manager why were dressed so nicely. They felt very sorry that we were so disappointed. They talked with us, They ended up giving us a free small drink (shot for my husband) and really making our night improved. The night manager had even congratulated us on our pregnancy! They took a picture for us and were just so pleasent. It REALLY turned our night around. THANK YOU!!! We will continue to come back.

Ive been to Gengis several times in my life. This review is me trying to view them through the eyes of someone new. If youve never been to a Japanese restaurant here in the states, be prepared to sit next to people you dont know or care to meet. You should feel lucky if they arent annoying. Unless of course youre the annoying group. In that case, go to McDonalds. Nothing about their food or service will make you forget this. The cool thing about coming here is the chefs. They perform cool tricks with their cooking utensils, so its a bit of a show. The newer you are, the better the show. They can tell you dont care about the show after youve seen it a few times. Less "oooohs" and "ahhhhs" make for a very boring show, and become more of a "how fast can you get that on my plate, bud?" Also, get ready to experience double yum yum. Youll know what I mean when you get there.

Delicious but Dirty. The actual dining room is dimly lit and for good reason. The building was newly acquired by Genji but they didnt do a very good job cleaning. The carpet looks older than the building ripped in spots and stained and Dusty all Round the Corners. Worst part however was the lighting and overhead rafters... They look like they have never been dusted! This is where the dirty part comes in, dust chunks literally falling down on our plates. Aside from the location... The food was wonderful. We were skeptic to eat at all based on how dirty it was but glad we did. I would give it 5 stars all the way for service and how delicious the food was if it was not for the Dirty Dining Room. We plan to go back in several months and hopefully their dining room will be cleaned up by then.
