Nothing about my experience with this place was positive. The food took almost two hours to get there, after an estimated delivery time of an hour. Almost two hours, including the 14 minutes and 39 seconds I spent on the phone with the delivery driver trying to help him find my apartment. I ended up going outside in my pajamas to wave him in. I do not live in a large apartment complex, and order take out food all the time. No one has ever had an issue. 14 minutes and 39 seconds on the phone with him. After handing me the food, he muttered something under his breath as he walked that I could not hear, because I was hurrying inside. I ordered take out food so I didnt have to go outside. I had already tipped 20% when I ordered, because of the cold. Speaking of cold, that perfectly describes my dinner! I ordered take out because I didnt want to fire up my oven and toaster oven, which I ended up doing anyway! Then, to top it all off, there was a decent-sized bone in a piece of my chicken.

Another great Indian food place on my list now. I had a few friends that wanted to take me to Indian Kitchen since I havent been and have heard good things about them, however, venturing out on super bowl Sunday we found the place closed. So glancing across the street we found the New Taj Mahal. I would have to say, there isnt anything fancy about this place. It could really use a remodel to spiff things up a bit, it would make it feel really nice inside. It would help with the "New" in the name to really emphasize how new this place is. LOL. but anyways... The service was good, friendly and attentive. The food was really good and everyone enjoyed what they had. I kept feeding myself beyond the point that I should have, but I just couldnt stop eating, it was pretty tasty stuff. I also found the phone to be a little unprofessional, its right next to the front door on a little table and it "announces" the caller ID throughout the small place while you are eating.

Incredible disappointment! First off, our order was supposed to arrive in 45 - 60 minutes...almost 2 hours later we finally got our overpriced food. So many problems... 1. Drinks we ordered were not available - they did call to inform us about 1.5 hours after placing the order. 2. Mango Curry w/ lamb arrived with chicken yet we were charged for the $14.99 price for lamb. 3. Mixed Biryani was ordered with all the meats. Had to be thrown out as it was filled with bones. 4. Two Daal Soups were ordered at $3.99 each --- Priced WAY to high for 3/4 cup servings! (Yes, I measured.) 5. By the time the food arrived it was cold. 6. We ordered mild but nothing was mild - our food was pretty damn spicy. We will NEVER order from here again. What a rip-off. Too bad because we love Indian food.

Taj Mahal is no longer the place to find great Indian food in Columbus. Recently they have been investigated by channel six for their horrid cleanliness. So it is with out a surprise that upon my last meal there I was not impressed. (Before the Channel 6 segment) The taste of our meal was on par, yet presentation, portions and just over all quality of the food was poor. Plus the price was ridiculous. My naan was cold! If a restaurant can not deliver warm bread then what is the point? Lets not even go into what was found in my dinner guests lentil soup. A high employee turn over rate also indicates a massive disorganization of Taj Mahals owners and management team. When there is disorganization at the top, people get sick. Please CHD, shut this place down before people get sick!

The food is great and cheap for students. I would recommend you to come during the lunch time because you will have unlimited refills with wide variety of menu options for the buffet. For dinner, it can be quite pricey especially for students. Service wise during dinner time, I would say they try little too much to be accommodative. The server comes to our table every 5 minutes after we got our meals and we find that very distracting. I understand that they want to make sure everything is okay, but to the extent that they are interfering with our private conversation just to say how are you guys doing? is definitely not necessary. So, the manager please train your servers to be more professional in being mindful about your customers privacy.

Copying over a review I left on their facebook page. Because Lazy My order times have been spot on, both times I ordered through Grub Hub. Food was the correct temp and really good. The Garlic Naan had chucks of garlic! Some places Ive wondered why they even bothered calling it garlic naan, not here! Wonderful! It was not soggy either, but I took care to unwrap it as soon as the food arrived. Delivery charge is a little pricey, but seriously, in a town that I couldnt even find Chinese Delivery when I first moved here (if it wasnt Pizza, you werent getting it delivered) having Indian food delivered is Amazing! They took about 15 minutes longer than ordering pizza and was totally worth that wait. Ill very much order from these guys again.

When my mom and dad traveled to India in 1984 this became their favorite restaurant upon return. I have been a regular here for 30 years and it is still a special authentic Indian experience every time. This restaurants glory is their food, namely the lamb sag. When the New Taj redid the menu it ended up out of this world and the street food style appetizers are dynamite! Other Indian restaurants have tried to step up to The New Taj but they have never stacked up after the hype, time after time. At the New Taj they have always went out of their way to personally please us kids and adults. If you have kids try the tandoori chicken!

This is my favorite Indian restaurant in the campus area. Their food is great, and their service is friendly. It is a bit expensive, as to be expected of anything in this area, but the atmosphere is wonderful for date nights. If youre looking for affordable Indian take out, dont despair. A smart couple would order one entree and a few naan and still pay less than $20. TRUST me, there is more than enough to share. My boyfriend and I hadnt eaten all day and we couldnt finish it all. Not the best Ive ever had, but definitely the best near OSU.

My order never came. I placed my order before 9:30. Shortly after 11 the driver called starting he was outside my house but it was too dark to see the house numbers. I went outside but there was no one on my street. I gave the driver very specific and easy directions (go down High turn east on my street). He then told me he was just going to cancel the order. I STILL have NOT gotten food OR my refund! I WILL NEVER ORDER FROM THEM AGAIN!

This restaurant is under new management and it shows. The food, while good, is not quite up to par. Do not entirely trust the rating. If you take out the 23 older reviews from a year or so ago, the rating dips into the 2s. I think once the older reviews are taken off of the page a more clear picture will be formed about this restaurant. Im more upset because I was misled than the food was bad. This is easily fixable.
