Absolutely horrible experience at the downtown location! We are locals in Asheville and have tried this place a couple times. The staff is so rude (not exaggerating - the customer service at McDonalds is better). T he first time we went, I ordered a ton of tacos (I was excited to try all the different kinds), and my wife only ordered a small portion (she was having some stomach trouble and couldnt be a big eater that night). We also got 2 appetizers and an alcoholic beverage. The lady who took our order at the counter made a rude remark about my wife not ordering enough food. We gave her the benefit of the doubt (maybe she was just having a bad day) and left a generous tip anyway (unfortunately, you leave the tip when you order at the counter, not at the end of the meal). When we got our food, the tacos were very good, but our server was so rude. She acted like she was annoyed to have customers and rolled her eyes often. The next time we went (decided to try it again, hoping for a better experience) was even worse! This time our server was even more rude. She made a rude remark about my baby (who was quietly sitting in her high chair being well-behaved) because she had dropped a couple chips on the floor. I got on the floor and picked up the 3 chips (like I always do when I take my child out) so I didnt leave a mess for the staff to clean up. Then, she went to clear my plates, and accidentally got some pico de gayo on her hand, and she exclaimed, "oh gross!" and took my wifes napkin to wipe her own hands! Im not kidding. I was shocked. Im not one to complain at a restaurant - it takes A LOT for me to say something. When I politely mentioned this to the manager, the manager stuck up for the server and made a rude remark about babies always making messes and parents not caring. I couldnt believe what I was hearing. She never apologized, and just walking away after her rude comment. While the tacos are good, they are not worth putting up with the horrible staff/manager. There are so many amazing places to eat in Asheville, so we will be going to those and skipping this one from now on. Dont waste your time here.

Ordered several different tacos: jerk, korean bbq, beef and cheese, fish. All were completely disgusting. Girlfriend and I each took a bite of the jerk and almost threw up. It was like eating pure potpourri. We took it back to the kitchen amazed that they are putting out such an item, and the manager said snidely, "Oh, thats our most popular taco...." Then begrudgingly sent out two to replace the two jerk and one korean bbq we couldnt stomach. (All three may have been good with 1/20th the amount of seasonings). The only taco that was edible was the beef and cheese, which is so basic to begin with that if it tasted bad they would have had to try. The fish taco was bland. I guess the owner believes people here prefer hipster-hype over quality- too bad this isnt Asheville. I will never go back. Zia is better, hands down, in every single way. Guess when Ziqa moved to Asheville these guys had to come to Charleston to save face, but Zia is dominating them in both spots with quality food and great service. Take a hint staff- dont act like you are god. The customer is your boss, you work for them. Even the manager. So get off your soap box and try to cook better and listen to customers rather than being incredibly arrogant and cocky.

The line was long and I was going to leave. But it seemed to be moving fast so I stayed. First off I am not much of a taco person. But this place had a ton of positive reviews. So I gave it a shot. Let me tell you this place can make some Tacos. I bought about 6 just to try each of them with no intention of eating them all. Just tasting them. The Pork Belly was amazing. Probably one of the best tacos I have had. The Mole Duck was great as well. The duck got a little lost in the mix. But the flavor profile of this is worth it. The Lamb was excellent also. If I lived in the area. I would probably come here at least once a week. The staff is great and they seem to be busting their butt the entire time to keep everything running fast. This place is awesome.

Very quick place to get a bite to eat. Dont be intimidated by a line as they move people through very quickly. If it is your first time eating here, be aware that the building is not well marked from the street. There is a small black flag with a white duck on it. That is all you will see from the road, so dont pass it. The food itself is delicious. It is tacos, and they are great. Most of the seating is outside, so it may not be the best place to go on a rainy day. The staff is friendly and very quick. See my pictures for a menu and outside shots of the building.I would definitely go there again or recommend to a friend. It is a very casual place, it is dog friendly, it has gluten free options, but Im not sure if it is vegan/vegitarian friendly.

We stopped here on our way through Ashville based off of the reviews here on Google. The "tacos" werent actually tacos, but could be anything that was lying around and jammed into tortillas. The flavors were ok, but definitely not anything close to being Mexican food of any sort. The chips and queso werent of the highest quality either, considering that the chips were fairly stale. The prices were also quite hefty, at $33 for four small tacos and a basket of stale chips. The atmosphere was only OK, but could be better if the music wasnt blasting to the point in which you really cannot have a conversation. At the end of the day, it was ok at best, far from any type of Mexican food, and expensive as hell.

White Duck Taco Shop is definitely a quality taco, but if youre looking for NYC good tacos, go somewhere else....like NYC. White Duck Taco Shop has a fun, casual vibe and this location is in the River Arts District giving it a very hipster vibe. Theres usually a line, but it moves fast. I ordered a bulgogi taco and a shrimp taco. The shrimp taco was amazing, but the bolgogi taco was too wet and not super flavorful. We also ordered the chips and queso and the queso was good (though not spicy at all), but the chips tasted stale. The watermelon we ordered on the side wasnt fresh. Overall, its a fine place and some of the tacos are amazing, but this wont be the best taco place you go to.

Best tacos Ive had in a while, though theyre hardly authentic (jerk-chicken tacos, Korean beef tacos, spicy Thai-peanut chicken tacos). This isnt a complaint. Everything is fresh. The tortillas are even above average. I would like to recommend the duck tacos I ate when I visited (with apple-cranberry relish and sour cream), but since it was a special, theres no telling if it will be on the menu when you go there. Really should make it a regular addition to the menu considering their name is "White Duck Taco Shop." Was told they would have pork belly in the future (yay!). Great place, great people running it.
