My wife and I came here b/c of the good reviews it had gotten online. It was a big disappointment. The whole menu is overpriced; it was $14 for chicken teriyaki. The dinner included a small piece of chicken, half an onion(?), rice, soup and salad. The teriyaki sauce tasted like it came out of a bottle, and their miso soup tasted like it was one of those instant soup mixes. They dont even use tofu in their miso soup; if you look closely, youll see theyre actually little pieces of egg (if you can manage to find the pieces swimming among the kelp forest in your bowl)! The service wasnt very good either. I wont say anything more than that. We didnt eat on the hibachi side of the restaurant, so maybe that had to do something with it, but I cant imagine it making much of a difference what side you sit on. On the upside, the sushi was OK. It was very expensive as well. We got two of the "cheaper rolls," and for sushi alone we spent $22. My recommendation is to go somewhere else. Being of Japanese descent, I can tell you that this is not authentic Japanese. If that is what youre looking for, I would stick with Sugano or Yamamoto; however, if you like the contemporary Japanese thing, this might be right up your alley.

Miyako is BY FAR the best place to go for sushi in Lexington! The food is incredible, and you really cant beat the price. The sushi chefs behind the counter go out their way to always serve new and creative dishes. I dont always know what to order off the menu, so I often leave it up to the chefs to surprise me - I am never let down! On a few special occasions I have been lucky enough to be served the largest oysters-on-the-half-shell that I have ever seen (super tasty, if you like raw oysters like I do!). When I do order from the menu, my favorite meal is the tuna sashimi salad - the dressing is really delicious, the fish is always "melt in your mouth" fresh, and a crispy variety of fresh spring lettuce is used. Even their basic items go above and beyond - like the miso soup with the tiny mushrooms, tofu, and seaweed. The atmosphere in the restaurant is great, and the service is top notch. I would recommend Miyako to anyone that really enjoys the whole dining package when treating themselves to sushi. If you really like sushi, Miyakos is the place to go in Lexington!

Miyako is a great restaurant in Lexington. The food is always pretty good, the restaurant is usually clean and the Hibachi Chefs are very entertaining and personable. It is a little packed on the weekends so I always recommend a reservation. With that being said I took a star off because when it is packed busy they are not very efficient. Wait time can range from 40 - 90 mins. The host staff is usually pretty accommodating. We went a couple of weekends ago, were told wait time was 20-40 minutes as we didnt make a reservation. (our mistake as it was Saturday at 7pm) we ended up waiting a little over an hour, to be sat at an overcrowded table, but we understood as there were no open seats that day. Our waitress, which we understand was very busy and probably really tired was still very rude until the end when it was time to pay. She brought us the wrong drinks and we waited a good 20 minutes after ordering before she brought out our soup and salad. Now this is the only time weve had an unpleasant experience, and the Chefs are really really nice and funny.

My party of three were seated at a teppanyaki table last Saturday evening. The food was so-so - but apparently because we didnt participate in the food games - we did not receive great food or service. I guess you are supposed to engage the table by having massive amounts of water squirted into your mouth and catch chunks of cucumber in your mouth. Two of us only received one small piece of shrimp on our plate for our appetizer, while all the rest of the table received 3-4 pieces. My scallops were tasteless and VERY under cooked. The chef was also making himself a meal at the same time (even admitted it). His steak was beautifully cooked and HIS scallops were plentiful and seared properly.

I just ordered carryout and it was the worst sushi I have ever had. I ordered a rainbow roll and it came as three very thin pieces. Also ordered the softshell crab roll ... two small pieces. The rice did not seem right and the rolls were so thin when I tried to pick them up they fell apart. I also had a couple of orders of nigiri (tuna, salmon). The salmon did not taste fresh. The tuna did not taste too bad but it was falling apart before I touched it. I usually do not right reviews but this was so bad I felt I had to. My stomach is still not full and my palate is not satisfied. It was not worth the 25 dollars. I have had better sushi from grocery stores.

We love it here. Tonight was especially good. They are usually pretty busy on Saturdays so we expected a wait. It was about half an hour and we had a first day waiter Joe. He was a little rocky at first but kept our drinks full and plates cleared. The hibachi was fun and food was amazing tonight. Great entertainment and we left with lunch tomorrow. I highly recommend Hibachi for two. You get filet, lobster, chicken, and shrimp. Also a California roll and shrimp spring roll. Its $55 but if you get any combination hibachi with sushi youll spend more. You get ice cream too but we gave ours to the kids at our table. We were too full!

One of best Hibachi table experiences I have ever had! Time and again I try other similar resturants in multiple states and always return to this resturant and experience consistency, great service and a wonderful atmosphere. The sushi bar is high grade with traditional selections and innovative rolls. Menu selections for lunch are wide ranging, well prepared and presented by a friendly staff and in an eye-pleasing manner. Only Japanses resturant I have been to in the past 20 years that was any better, but 3X expensive, was in Orlando!!!

FOOD POISIONING! Went with a party of 8 and we all got sick. The grill was dirty and had old crusted food on it. The carpet is sticky when walking on it and it does not have a clean smell. The decor is dirty, dusty and sticky. The food was not what it used to be. The sushi was excellent despite the atmosphere we were eating it in. For the extremely high priced food, you would think they could afford to scrub it down and clean it. The bathroom was disgusting and the ceiling tiles are coming down. Gross! Never eating there again.

The food was really good! The only thing I didnt like was that my mom and my brother told the waitress and the chef that they are vegetarian but the chef cooked their food on the same spots as the meat without cleaning the grill. It would have been better to cook their food on a separate part of the grill or maybe even first so that their food wouldnt be cooked with meat. Theyve been vegetarian for many years, and any meat getting into/onto their food can make them very sick. Otherwise, it was a good experience.
