As I sat there, basking in the glory of a meal that I still cant completely begin to internalize, I tried to pinpoint where the soft echo from my past was calling from, this deja-vu with the fuzzy edges. Finally, it all came back; Summer, 1999. Venice Beach, CA. The place was called Tortilla Grill, and once I had discovered it, I became completely disinterested in eating anywhere else. Their burritos owned me. I was their slave. The steak and chicken was grilled by chicano angels who would read my mind and stuff the tortillas full of the contents of my dreams. If I wasnt at Tortilla Grill you would often find me at the pawn shop, selling my belongings so I had money to go to Tortilla Grill. Finally I ended up in Burrito Rehab were I learned about things like moderation and overindulgence. Cut to 15 years later and here I am sitting in El Que Pasa, wondering how many more complimentary bowls of bean dip and chips we were not going to turn down. How many more slices of burrito I was going to shovel into my mouth before my stomach fell off. How many more Cadillac margaritas I was going to drive to lovers lane and ravish. How many more salsas I was going to romance before they all realized that I was just a whore for their kisses. I was overwhelmed. I was overrun with emotion and boasted like a new parent to anyone within earshot. I had the California Burrito, if it even matters. Looking over the menu, there was little doubt that I would probably be mesmerized by just about any of their offerings in this particular category. Senora McStyles had the Organico one. We sat there together and cried a little, forking in mouthfuls between dabbing at our tears as we bathed in the beauty of the moment. The rest of our group have been regulars here for years and watched us with pride as we figured it all out, applauding us on our good taste and respectful worship. This was just the first, of what we know will be many, Sunday afternoons celebrating life with great food and people at El Que Pasa. Thank You, for finally giving us a church we can believe in. Grade: A (no description can do justice to perfection such as this)

This is my favorite restaurant! The food and service are great consistently, and Ive been there many times. I cant imagine what the negative reviewer was talking about with regard to the service (perhaps a personal agenda?). Every wait person Ive had there has been totally accommodating (allowing of requests), very friendly and they deliver the food fast! Plus they help each other out. For example, there is a different person who goes around making sure everyone has enough bean dip and chips, both of which are warm, delicious and bottomless. Add that to a great help-yourself salsa bar and excellent prices all of which make me go there more than any other restaurant in town - by far.

Good Mexican restaurant fare at a very reasonable price. The atmosphere and style of food are similar to most traditional Mexican restaurants, but they do offer a few things that set them apart. They have a fantastic salsa bar, which makes the free chips into a fun adventure. They also bring a bean dip to the table with the chips. There are also entree options that expand on the traditional choices, such as the "torta rellana" (basically a Mexican style panini with a chili rellano as the main filler). I recently paid about seven bucks for a lunch that was more than I could eat. If you are familiar with Papas and Beer, this is a similar experience.

The food is good but BEWARE IF YOU ARE PLANNING TO ORDER TO GO FOOD, BEFORE YOU LEAVE OPEN THE BAGS AND CHECK MAKE SURE EVERYTHING YOU ORDERED ARE THERE, OTHERWISE YOU ARE GOING TO GET FOOLED WITH THESE PEOPLE, 1ST THEY ARE HAVING A HARD TIME UNDERSTANDING ENGLISH, 2ND WE ORDERED A COUPLE OF TIMES WITH FAJITAS FOR 2 WITH STEAK, CHICKEN AND SHRIMP AND BOTH BOXES THERE ARE NO SHRIMPS AT ALL. JUST WATCH OUT WITH THESE RESTAURANT, THEY HAVE TO TAKE GOOD CARE OF THEIR CUSTOMERS, GIVE THEM WHAT THEY WANT NOT WHAT THEY WANTED ITS JUST YOUR MONEY, THIS IS FRAUD!!!! WATCH OUT!!!

We usually love this place! But, tonight never again! Our server never came back after taking our order, my daughter was left without dinner, I had to get up to find a server, then that server never came with our food, had to get a manager to help us, my beer was flat I couldnt drink it, time the wraps came our food was cold! Should I go on? I have worked in food service as a manager for years, but there was no excuse for this! Not one time did anyone ask was we ok or did we need anything! I hate they lost my business. I love local better than chains!

The night we went it was extremely busy, the wait staff was awesome considering. The place was surprisingly clean. I had the bacon wrapped shrimp, huge amount but the flavors were exceptional ! their was a side of beans with the best spices, my I had to excitedly share right away ! the shrimp were fresh and tender with the bacon crisp! Yummm and then the veggies and sauce over the rice was delightful! This chef really knows how to balance his flavors! I am officially making this place my go to mexi dinner spot!!!!!!!!!

I ate here about a week ago, and was unimpressed with the food to begin with. The bean dip is bland and salty. The bean & cheese burrito I ordered had a strange bitter aftertaste. I couldnt finish it. The worst part, though, was that apparently someone working here STOLE OUR CREDIT CARD NUMBER and used it to buy gas and airline tickets. The unappetizing food is not worth the danger of identity theft. There are plenty of other Mexican restaurants in Asheville, dont bother with this one.

I have stopped in at the bar the past 2 Sunday nights st about 7 pm both nights. The bartender a thin dark skinned lady never greets or attempts to offer service. The bar both times has been about 60% occupied and restaurant is not very full. I come in several nights during the week and the service is always great. This bartender definitely needs help with her customer service skills!! If shes really busy its common courtesy to st least acknowledge your waiting customers.

Our favorite Mexican/California restaurant. We have 2 vegetarians in our family and they have the most amazing spicy avocado taco!! The salsa bar is the best in town. Always fast. The lunch service feels like the order just came out of your mouth and its already on the table. Burritos are great, mushroom quesadilla is great, and the entrees have a little sweet cake of corn pudding! We drive from Black Mountain because it bets everything here and is super affordable.

HUGE portion sizes. Two dinner entrees will feed you five decent meals, easy. Food is good, tons of tasty vegetarian options. Service is fast and attentive. If I had to make a complaint it would be that the salsa bar sometimes tastes a little "off" but not enough to keep me from inhaling the stuff. This place is nothing fancy, but its our go-to for Mexican in Asheville and it must be for other people too because its always packed.
