My son, 11-year old grandson, and I went there today for the first time to have lunch. We have been looking for a good Mexican restaurant in Spring Hill to make our regular place. The restaurant was around 15-20% full at peak lunch hour. The lunch menu had several items to choose from with reasonable prices. All of us ordered the chicken fajitas ($8.25). The meals were brought out and the fajita portions were large, too large for one person/meal, especially for an 11-year old. The flavor of the food was not great, but acceptable. The waitress delivered the check at the end of the meal. Instead of charging us $8.25 ea., we were charged $13.95 ea. I brought it to the attention of the waitress. She acknowledged not bringing lunch portions, but did not adjust the amounts. Its lunchtime, so why would she bring a dinner portion without confirming it beforehand? Thats a gotcha! in my opinion. They made an extra $18 off of us, but lost all of our future business ($$$$), and any possible business ($$$$$$) they would have received from those we would have recommended them to. Thats not a way to do business, or to stay in business. It is not located in tourist area where a customer can get ripped-off without major consequences to a business. Here, they wont survive without the repeat business. Thats too bad. On the brighter side, the location is perfect for a pizza shop. Who knows?? These are my opinions based on this experience.

Went to Chulas a couple months ago with my family around 3 PM on a weekday had a wonderful time and the food was amazing. Today I decided to pickup some food from here because of the great previous experience, I was so horribly disappointed in every aspect of this restaurant today. I do not know what happened, but the burritos were so very bland just some shredded pork and some chopped beef wrapped in some plain soggy wraps. Very little sauce or salsa came with the meal, everything about these 10 dollar entrees were meager, some lettuce on the side smothered in sour cream....What am I supposed to do with this. I left without finishing so very unsatisfied. I was so happy when I came last time, I kind of wish I never went back if just to savor the memory of a decent place to eat in Spring Hill...

We went for lunch on Valentines Day for our very 1st time. There was a dj on the patio which I thought might be nice on this beautiful afternoon, but the music was so loud we couldnt eat outside so we took a booth inside which we found out had speakers directly from outside and it was still to loud for a Sunday afternoon. The food was less than impressive we ordered the 4 different enchiladas and the mango shrimp tacos which were expensive considering the few shrimp and no fresh mangos, but some kind of mango jelly everything seemed to be cooked in. I guess were spoiled cause our favorite Mexican restaurant is Del Carmen in Dade City and this just doesnt compare. Unfortunately this was and will most likely be our only visit to Chulas.

We drive all the way from New Port Richey to eat there! My husband is Mexican and very pickey and Im Italian and we both love the food here. We have tried Mexican restaurants from around here in a 40mile radius in every county from St.Pete to Spring Hill to Lakeland and more and still love this one the best! I learned how to make Mexican food from my husbands family and they are good cooks And Chulas is better than some of the ones in my husbands home town. Plus weve always had great service and Edgar and Chary are wonderful people. Most likely the people who didnt like the food must think Taco Bell is authentic anyone who knows real Mexican food would never step a foot in Taco Bell! Keep up the good work Chulas!!!!

My boyfriend and I went there for lunch. We were automatically served chips and salsa without asking for it, and were charged for them. We got a side dip to try before we ordered food because we hadnt tried this place before, and we got a small portion for $6.75. I had asked for tortilla chips for the dip but we were given tortillas. The woman behind us told our waitress that her order was wrong, the waitress took it turned around and rolled her eyes. The decor feels like its a fast food place. The salsa tasted like it was from a jar. If the prices were lowered and the quality of food improved, and got more friendly wait staff, I would try this place again, but as of right now we will not come back.

I would describe Chulas as a standard Mexican restaurant, just like any other, but its a nice edition to Spring Hill. I had the cheese quesadilla with rice and refried beans, which was amazing, except I expected better on the beans. My milk for a drink was good, and the service was excellent and kind. The food was served quick, bathrooms were nice, and atmosphere was ok. Finally, my desert of flan couldve been significantly improved ): but my familys order of churros was excellent (: Overall, this is a nice place with nice food, but their is nothing special about that that separates it from other Mexican restaurants in Spring Hill.

Food is delicious and yes authentic ! I had the tacos de carne & the steak shrimp and chicken fajitas. I also had the horchata! I know every Mexican restaurant makes their horchata different. I liked it, to me Id like more rice and cinnamon. However. The waitress is sweet! And nice ! Service was excellent and fast and on point. It was empty so if course youd expect the place to serve you quickly. This place is also beautiful in the inside! & outside! You can choose to sit in or out. Comfortable and love the variety of Spanish music they play! People are bilingual I will come back I came with my wife & two kids.

Not what we expected, we went by the reviews and was very disappointed and will not return. We had the steak fajitas, the steak was tough and not a typical sizzling fajita with a regular taco seasoning. We also has the burrito, enchilada and taco. It was nothing to brag about but the proportions were small and did not fill me, lucky for me, my wife did not like the fajitas so i finished them off. Nothing else seems to work, the refried beans tasted scorched, the rice was dry, but to top it all off, was the full tomato stem in the salsa. (see the pics I posted) If you are gluten sensitive, dont eat here.

I only came for the margaritas - heard some great things about the Cadillac margs that my cousin and wife had a few days prior. We mistakenly picked the top shelf margarita, wasnt worth the extra expense, plus they came in the smaller margarita glasses. Next try, we found the waitress that had originally made the last ones we had there, and she reminded us that it was the Cadillac margaritas that they had previously ordered. VERY tasty, not syrupy, perfect balance of liquor and lime. They nailed it! A little on the pricey side (not a special), but worth it. I suggest it on the rocks with salt!

I am rating it 1 star based on the service. Or should I say lack thereof. I cant rate it for food quality as we never ate. Sat at a table for 1/2 hour and never got served. We had to ask a passing waitress to give us menus she picked up for another table. Then we waited and since we received no service we got up and walked out. Other people were complaining about the service as well. This was a Monday night. Hate to see what it would be like on a Saturday night. They better hire more help and provide better service or they wont be open long.
