The Busy Bee Restaurant has been a downtown staple for decades, and still has the same cheap prices from back in 1984. When I lived in the downtown neighborhood, I used to enjoy coming here for breakfast all the time. This restaurant is an awesome spot to meet locals around the Rochester community, along with the HOT construction men that come to eat lunch here on a routinely basis. The interior of the restaurant reminds you of that typical diner feel that is classic to the 80s era, much like being in a New Kids on The Block music video. This restaurant is family owned, and operated in which owner Paul does an amazing job cooking on a daily basis. Service is always top notch, and Stacy aka Busy Bee has been a staple to the place for decades now. While the food might not be top notch, the environment of growing up with everybody here downtown was well worth the experience alone. Keep in mind the pricing point, as it is the CHEAPEST breakfast yet, at an average of $2.99 to $3.50. Not only are prices DIRT CHEAP, but the quantity is A LOT. Youre not coming here for a 5-Star Meal, just a quick bite to eat with lots of food at a cheap price. This is a CASH ONLY establishment, and rightfully so, since your looking at 5 bucks for your meal! The 2.99 Breakfast Special: A TON of food which includes 2-eggs done your way, I recommend getting them Over-Hard here, as odds are the yolk will break before getting it to your mouth. It also comes with home-fries, which I think are the some of the BEST in Rochester. These home-fries are always perfectly golden brown, with seasoning placed on top. They also NEVER come out on the greasy end for me. The Sausage and Bacon are standard fare, typical frozen meat placed on the grill. It does come with more food, such as your choice of toast. Google! Tip- they usually mess up what kind of toast you want, so make sure to make it a point to your server. BONUS POINTS- coffee also comes with the meal, and yes it does taste like dirt, but for $2.99 you cant complain for all you get. Overall: Stacy the Busy Bee, CHEAPEST Breakfast in Rochester, The 2.99 FAMOUS Breakfast Special, The Home-Fries, No-Frills Eating, and Tasteless Coffee....Of Course I Will Be Back, Because this Place Keeps it Real.

Im in the Food Service field since 1982. I recently moved to Rochester from The Bronx, been here almost 2 months. Out of all the places I have ate at, this is MY FAVORITE. Though I only go on Saturdays for breakfast, my job, a kitchen is 2 blocks away, this is a MUST stop at before I put my hours in. The food...its hot AND fresh. The eggs, Ive NEVER seen eggs as yellow, fluffy and the right texture AND taste as these. The breakfast menu, you wont believe the price!! As for the ambiance of the place...there is none. Heck all you come to do is eat, pay and go, but... They allow you, not saying they dont. They allow you to read the newspaper, check your email, (no wifi), and relax after a good meal. This place is a stop at when you dont want to pay for something youre not getting. As to say, you get what you pay for GOOD FOOD!! I dont know if they are open on Sundays, but if they are.. I will be buying, The NY Times, NY Daily News and The NY post to read while I eat a late light breakfast & a good lunch. I had to stop in this place for another reason. Like I said I am from The Bronx and the name of the place is the same name as a Rapper, Chief Rocker Busy Bee. Who, was just inducted into The Hip Hop Hall of Fame in THE BRONX!!

the ambiance is a little frightening on your first visit...there may be a homeless man in a booth, you can watch the cooks making and touching your food without gloves....but man oh man is the food delicious, and you get treated like a regular even on your first time there. the busy bee is a historic landmark...dont be afraid to check it out!!

More of a diner really, but the burgers are good, and I didnt feel like Id get stabbed. Keep your expectations to a diner and youll be ok.

Run by the two owners. Classic diner style brings you back in time. Prices are great as well. Will return if back in town.
