I am always amazed at the reviews that I read on line for different retail services. They say that people obviously have varied opinions but must write things based on their emotions not their experience. I have worked in the food business for over 27 years, and I can honestly say that Melt has exceeded my expectations in all areas. The service, atmosphere, quality of food and variety are fantastic. I am so hooked on the lamb burger (I have celiac disease and cannot eat any bread/gluten) which for me they serve over a bed of watercress and finely shredded cabbage. Honestly- as far as price is concerned you get what you pay for. They could charge me double what I normally pay and I would go back again no worries! The portions are huge and the quality is great- but yet I still find a way to eat every last drop of food that they give me. Their research into creating a perfect theme to each burger idea that they have inspires me to do the same for the food business that I work in. Other reviews have mentioned that the facility is packed or "dirty", packed means that people love their food, and dirty- which in 4 visits I have never experienced- often means that during the "rush" they would rather let their guests enjoy their meals rather than having a staff member interrupting their experience by asking them to move their feet so they can sweep up the mess that some messy child left at the floor so that current guest could have a seat on the busiest night of the week. If everyone could work in food for even a week before they go and critique an establishment on something that they dont understand- they would have a whole new perspective on the situation. If you go to a fine dining establishment you will wait for an undetermined amount of time while your table is prepared- but at a gourmet burger establishment with no table service (waiter service) people immediately sit in a table that has opened up, often times before it has been wiped down and sanitized by a staff member- but yet have the nerve to complain that a place is dirty. Order your food "to go" in a busy and delicious establishment if you dont want to wait or dont want to see a crumb on the floor. Melt also gives a good amount of their time and all of the walls of their establishment to dog and all animal rescue- a selfless love and passion to the innocent animals that are given up in our country. If I never eat another meal out again, I will continue to frequent Melt for every meal because I am thoroughly impressed by everything that they have to offer- especially the food which gets an A+ in my book.

I came in Melt right before 12:00. I was starved, and browsed the board which was so high, it was hard to read, and I am 6 ft. tall. I was going to go with a basic cheeseburger. Mistake! I had a few questions. The woman taking my order was training another woman. She was just a tad in your face. She didnt want to be bothered taking my order, suggestively selling or explaining how things were not just take a burger order there. After ordering it MW, it came out in like 7 minutes, dry, dry dry! It was hard to swallow, and had no pink whatsoever. So, it was sitting there, probably since the morning, cooked to be then heated up, to serve. I ordered sweet potato fries, which were no way even warm. I have had way better at Glory Days. I normally would go back and return the food, but was having a great day. I took the two bites, boxed it and left. For $15.00, I was gonna get something out of the meal. BTW, I was asking a question over the counter, while waiting for a box, about a side of marsh mellow on my plate. She had no idea what I was talking about. She saw I was bringing leftover food up, and had no idea how to handle it....Like, like I need a box.??? Maybe it was the usual hiring someone, in a customer service job, and they speak no English.....the Northern Virginia way....yikes! It gets old!

Too expensive for barely mediocre food. I guess Im the sucker because I paid $30 for a kids meal for my daughter and a burger, fries, and ice tea for myself. When I said " thirty dollars for a couple burgers?!?!?!?" The cashier replied " yeah but its good". My rebuttal was "it better be the best damn burger Ive ever had!" ... It wasnt. My burger was sloppy, and OVER drenched in blue cheese sauce. The fries were thin and mostly over cooked. My daughters kid cheeseburger bun was harder than croutons. The ridiculous prices are NOT justified at all. Even more ridiculous when considering there is no wait staff, you bus your own tables, you serve yourself iced tea in a solo cup, and they have a table fan crudely screwed to the wall. The only thing I mentioned was the rock hard bun to the cook, and he did offer to remake it. I declined. I didnt bother with any other complaints because the little sign at the table read " dont bother with complaints because they fall on deaf ears anyway". The family of 6 behind me (mom, dad, two teens, and grandparents) had a NINETY DOLLAR (yes $90.00) bill... YOU STAND IN LINE TO ORDER YOUR FOOD FOR CHRISTs SAKE! They are exploiting their address to its fullest.

This place is so overrated...their burgers are tall but but are small diameter-wise so it gives the illusion that you are getting a large burger. The meat is stringy & tasteless but they conceal it w lots of toppings & large buns. Wendys burgers taste better. One of the mexicans flipping burgers named Manuel was sexually harassing my wife by continuously staring at her. I later complained to the owner Steve about this and he just stood there staring at me with his arms folded and never apologized & acted like he could care less. He didnt say he would have a talk with the mexican or show any concern......he had the attitude that I should just not back if I had a problem. I guess as long as the money is flowing in he does not care that his employees sexually harass customers. We wont be going back.

Not sure to give a good or a bad review...we tried to have their burgers I think altogether 3 times we went from Ashburn on Friday evening...we were there even as early as 5:45pm but its all booked, not a single place is available. I hear this place is good...but its not worth driving there again and again and seeing that the place is just as big as like your kitchen. Either they should increase the size or do some alternative thing otherwise all this people who are like us ...who see the good reviews online and drive their everytime from a far away place and end up eating somewhere else (we did on that mexican place right next door) will never ever care to come back or care a less to taste their burgers. Maybe keep a quick carry out option??

Burgers are much too thick. Way too much of a big bready oversized bun. Yet another example where people have overrated a place based on bigger is better. Clear that most who frequent this place and this restaurant did not get the memo that a thinner perfectly cooked burger with an appropriate sized bun make for a better burger. On the Jack and jalapeno cheese fries they use a very mealy cheese sauce rather than just put the cheese and the jalapenos on the fries. Hard to understand why they go to the extra effort of making a sauce which is terrible. Have tried this place several times and its just not that good despite how good the reviews are. Those well informed and knowledgeable about burgers will just bypass this place.
