Lapin and I were craving Chinese food, since we were in the area we thought should stop in. They have two different sections, a take out area -- which looked shoddy and the sit in restaurant area which looked a lot better. We were seated rather quickly as they didn’t look super busy. Our waiters were nice and attentive to some degree. We sometimes had to ask for extra napkins, hot sauce, water refill but they were quick and nice about it. We got shrimp toast which was very unique. We never had it but it was okay, super greasy though. Lapin had an order of spare rib tips that he enjoyed. We also got wonton soup and egg drop soup which were average tasting. We ordered shrimp fried rice, general tso chicken and chicken broccoli to eat family style. The portions were huge and we were able to take the leftovers to lunch the next day. The food tasted pretty good and quality was on par for the price. We also got a fruit bowl which was a small bowl with handful of pineapple chunks with a toothpick to eat it with. I got a bowl of vanilla ice cream which had some ice chunks but tasted like regular vanilla ice cream from the grocery store.

You have to walk pass people ordering take-out but once we were seated, it was comfortable. Ate dinner here with my family. 4 people ate for under $90.00 with appetizers and the tip. I had shrimp egg foo young. Ive had better but it was good. The shrimp were sizable. My wife has shrimp and veggies and she loved it. The other members of my family were very pleased with their selections which included sesame chicken and shrimp lo mein. I also ordered the tea. Its served very sweet and was given to me in a large plastic container with a snap top. I couldnt drink it as Im not a sweets person and had no intention of being placed in a diabetic coma. YES ITS THAT SWEET!! I dont mean this as a bad thing. I believe they are serving the tea like this because of their customers, many of whom are African American and speaking honestly many of us like our drinks served this way. Although I dont like my tea served this way (I simply cut mine with the table water) I do understand why they serve it this way. Overall a very good dining experience.

I purchase an order of sesame chicken and white rice along with other things for my family. When got home I notice the meat was cut into strips instead of its normal cube shape the serve it every place else I ever had it. Then I notice the meat was an ode pinkish hue. At first I thought it was under cooked. I should it to my wife who studied culinary art in Asia. She looked at it, scraped the breading off, smelt then tasted it. She told me it wasnt chicken it was rat. At first I thought she was playing with me, but she assured me that she wasnt. She went online and should me some pictures of the dish made with rat meat and it look exactly like what I had eaten. I was disgusted. I will never eat food from Kum Kau or any other Chinese restaurant again. For now on we will cook our own Chinese food. I would give it no stars but I have to publish my review.

If youre looking for some greasy Chinese food on a Saturday night, this is the place! If youre looking for high cuisuine maybe head somewhere else. Good dinner special with egg roll and fried rice for $7-9, and the odd addition of kimchi, plantains, or apple empanadas depending on the mood of the chef. They cook fast, and hit the spot. Onlt caveat is they seem attract beggars at the front door, but theyre respectful and keep it under control. If you live in the area and need a sweet and sour fix, heres the place.

Top-notch Chinese cuisine. If you want greasy garbage, there are numerous bodega styled Chinese restaurants which will accommodate your taste. If you seek consistent quality from a restaurant, Kum Kau will not disappoint. If you have never dined at this establishment you will be disappointed with yourself for not visiting sooner. This is the place where the locals go!

Havent been to Kum Kau in a couple of years. I was on the neighborhood so decided to get some fried chicken wings and fried rice. Well, the chicken was battered and old. The rice was not tasty at all! The best thing was the shrimp roll! Very disappointing. Will never go there ever again. Food isnt the same since the Founder passed away.

When we come to New York, we look forward to a meal at Kum Kau. That wont happen again. We were very dissappointed at the meal we had tonight. Both of our meals were cold, and the duck tasted old. We will not be going back. The only thing that was good was the fried rice. Not really worth the money spent. Good bye Kum Kau forever.

- One of my favorite Chinese spots in Brooklyn - Everything is good, but my favorite is General Tso - So cheap - So much food (I get 3 meals easily out of my $6 dishes) - Cash only :( (But my Chinese spots are, so I guess I shouldnt be surprised)

Soild food and very large portions for a good price- however some menu items might take a long time and service might be spotty. I probably waited an hour or more for my food, but all my friends got theirs very quickly. Luck of the draw, I guess.

This place has a great selection of food at a fairly affordable price. I wouldnt go here if youre looking to eat any traditional dishes, but if youre looking for a cheap "chinese" experience with a nice atmosphere, this will do!

Love this place. Some of the best and freshest fast food Chinese cuisine. This surpasses the typical "chinese spot" on your typical NYC street. Not as authentic as what one would find in Flushing Queens, but still really good.

We got takeout. Food tasted great. Way Better than your average Chinese food. Portions were huge. Lost a star because of poor service. Just rude in their interactions with customers. Cash only place, ATM inside.

The shirmp wonton soup is excellent and so are the fried shirmp wontons. Not to greasy, fresh and crunchy. This is first Chinese restaurant that Ive been to that has shirmp wonton soup and I love it
