The good: Took a girlfriend there for her Birthday. The Ambiance for sure is great. Modern, contemporary, spacious and clean. The vegetables were fresh and crunchy. Food is okay at best, but certainly not a wow in terms of tastiness. The bread was mediocre. Expected it to be warm, soft and yum, but was hard and cold. I could have gotten better at a bistro. The lobster was bland. For those who know better, it just wasnt top chef taste. The soup was okay. Drinks were so so. Valet parking was not impressive. Came outside to see a car blocking the roundabout exit. After tipping the attendant, on top of the $5.00 valet charge fee, he proceeded to tell me I had to back out the car in order to exit. This, while a parked car was blocking the exit. A valet service is supposed to feel like a luxury experience and not like a "drive by get a way". Guys youre probably good most of the time, but always remember you only get one chance to make a first impression. Your best has to be presented to every customer everytime. Otherwise we come away thinking this is your typical standard. This might be a little extreme, but I wouldnt take anyone there just cause I want value for my money. I want to go somewhere that I can impress my companion with not just the ambiance, but also the food. Im not asking for quantity, just quality in the taste of the food. Would I recommend to go there? For sure, Im just a little more picky that the average joe. Its overall a really nice restaurant and Im pretty sure it may just have been our meal that we ordered so be sure to go an have your own experience. Im glad I went and had my own experience.

Mr. Strong- Good evening, I am writing to complain about improperly being informed about a $5.00 dollar fee for brining in a personal birthday cake . First of all, had I not called to modify my reservations at 9:00 p.m. 3/22/2013 my guest and myself would have been informed the day of for a "cake fee" per person. As a consumer you make reservation that way you have a planned event. However, when you are unaware of "hidden fees" it makes the experience hard to enjoy. Secondly, after speaking with Mr. Talib Hassan (informing me that he was the assistant general manager when in fact he is a wine director) advised me he was the only person I could address my concern with, was a lie! After speaking with another one of your employees clarified the truth about you being another person I could address my concern with. To make matters worst, there was no response when I asked could anything be done about not being properly informed other than.... "the day of is tomorrow 03/23/2013 and this is the restaurant rules and that we have personalize menus for partys of your size and we could provide the birthday guest with a special dessert"-Talib Hassan , and the fact that I can not canceled due to having love ones in town due to my experience is stressful. I am terrified of what surprises await me when I actually arrive with my guest tomorrow at 9:00 p.m. I very much hope that in future you will take care of these mistakes in order to prevent a bad customer experience in the future. Sincerely, Leonia Davis

This place was such a let down. My husband and I just got back from our Valentines dinner and we both are very underwhelmed. The ambiance was more Cheesecake Factory than fine dining. Our "upscale" date spot is usually Rays on the River and thats the type of service, ambiance and food we expect when were spending that much money. It was a bit too loud and the service was just not even close to the level is should have been at. Our waiter was absent for most of the evening, with other staff members clearing our plates, bringing the next course and keeping drinks refilled. In fact, our server wasnt even the one who took the check. It took forever to get a second round of drinks and it only happened after what may have been a manager stopped by and offered to get us another round. In addition to the poor service, the food was not anything to write home about. The lobster bisque and lobster ravioli were good, but not anything spectacular. The tuna tartare was very lackluster but my husband like the oysters. Both of us did like our entree (swordfish for him, lobster tail for me) but there just wasnt much to any of the dishes. It was almost like we were eating a tapas restaurant. My husband ordered the cheesecake with salted caramel which was very good and I ordered what was supposed to be a dark chocolate creme brulee, however it was more like chocolate mousse. I wanted this place to be awesome but it just wasnt. Especially for the price.

As any frugal foodie would do, we checked out the Oceanaire during Midtown Restaurant Week. Their $35 menu offered some yummy choices (3 options for each course). My date decided on the bibb salad with walnuts and blue cheese while I sampled the crab cake. We both enjoyed our starters but I could have opted for a more flavorful mayo than what was provided, fortunately the crab cake was moist enough that the pairing wasnt necessary. And to be 100% honest, it was one of the best crab cakes Ive had in the metro Atlanta area, nothing deep fried about it! For our main course we both had steak medallions, mine prepared well with a side of steak cut fries which I could have done without. They were bulky and just barely crisp enough on the outside to make up for the thick insides. Unfortunately the garlic ketchup did not help that one. My steak was well prepared, moist and easy to chew. For dessert he had the banana split ice cream (theres no banana folks!) while I thoroughly enjoyed the sliver of key lime pie. As much as we both enjoyed our meals, the portions were paltry. I understand its restaurant week but we definitely felt cheated from the full Oceanaire experience. I will give it another try, mainly because our server was awesome (Kudos Alex!!) but I do hope our portions are proportionate to their pricing.

This place is exceptional! I have been here for Restaurant week and to celebrate a friends daughters college graduation. Each time, even with Restaurant week, everything was absolutely superb! The service was exceptional, the food was great, the drinks were awesome. This is one of the few places that you can find Escargot in flaky pastry cups! DELICIOUS! Even if you have not tried Escargot, you need to try theirs at least once, I think once you taste the Escargot at the Oceanaire, you will have a different opinion about the dish. In the few times I have been to this place, I have never once been disappointed with anything from the food to the service. When you come here, be prepared, you are not going to find it cheap but it will be money well spent. In my opinion, this is one of Atlantas best restaurants. It will be very hard for anyone to beat them.

A group of us had a reservation for 1/30/16. We waited at the bar until all of the party arrived. While there, I asked for a few lemons. The bartender proceeded to walk over to a jar and with her BARE HANDS, GRABBED A HANDFUL OF LEMONS and placed them on a napkin before bringing them to me! Who does that! Extremely disgusting and unsanitary. Shawna, our waiter, did a great job going over the menu, which is all al la carte. I ordered Parmesan truffle fries which were barely warm ($10). The $20 lobster mac and cheese was okay (the smoked Gouda was a nice touch). My $33 Shrimp Thermidor, despite having a few too many mushrooms, was surprisingly seasoned very well and delicious. Id definitely recommend. Overall, the food was good but definitely overpriced. I would give a 4 but the bartenders unhygienic actions left a bad taste in my mouth.
