We ordered 2 double burger specials, which (according to the diners ad) is 1 double burger, fries, coleslaw, and a milkshake for $7.95. The service was friendly, but non-existent and slow. We were never once offered refills on our drinks, and the food took at least 30 minutes to arrive. We specifically ordered that special so I will start with the coleslaw, it was decent, fresh, but lacked flavor. The fries on the side, we may have had 15 fries on our plates total, literally. Now the burgers, mine was ordered with nothing on it except ketchup mustard and provolone cheese. The other was everything on it, and jack cheese. Both burgers were wrong, hers had american cheese, mine had no cheese and everything on it including the special sauce. We sent the food back, they scraped the sauce off my bun and gave it right back. She got to eat hers 15 minutes later after they cooked another one. Most people do not read reviews, so if you made it this far, here is the thrilling climax ... even though we ordered a special that includes a milkshake, we were told that we had to pay extra for them. They are not included in the double diner special or whatever it is called. Though the ad on the diners coupon page clearly says a milkshake is included. We will NOT be going back and we did NOT leave a tip.

The Diner produces large portioned, cost-effective food that goes down as easy on your pocketbook as it does in your stomach. The typical pizza fare is available for take out and is very good for what you pay for. There are often good coupons in the local Pennysaver or Valupak (in-mail and online). The Chinese is authentic American Chinese and tastes better than most of the other Chinese places in the vicinity and even in the greater area. Especially good was the Happy Family and Crab Rangoons. The portions were superb and the presentation (to-go) was well thought out and well packaged. Greatly exceeded our expectations and we look forward to using the Diner as our go-to Chinese restaurant.

I am from a small town in North Carolina and I love down home cooking and the hospitality offered at the diner.. I order take out from here a few times a month when I want simple delicious food. My favorite thing on the menu is the fried chicken with mashed potatoes, slaw and biscuits. On weekends they serve prime rib and its fantastic. Although I enjoy all of the great restaurants that have been emerging in downtown Pittsburgh..creative food...organic, farm to table, chef driven menus..it is wonderful. There is still a place for a spot like this in the neighborhood for a family night. i recommend it when you need some comfort food. Dont forget the homemade pie.

Me and my co-workers were ordering from them on a regular basis. They would frequently forget to give us utensils and condiments but it was never a big deal. However, this time we ordered omelettes and you cant eat an omelette with your hands. When we called to ask them to send some one they were extremely rude. Its not our fault you forgot to give us forks! I wont be ordering from them again.

We love The Diner! This quaint fifties themed diner is a top request when going out for a meal. Summertime is welcomed with their ice cream cones and the best Strawberry pie around. My husband loves the lemon meringue pie. Portions are generous. While food prep and service takes time, its easily passed while talking to other patrons. Be sure to call ahead if its game day for takeout!

I just arrived and I want to wait until I taste the coffee. It was really good in 1963, Drew and I would stop in and pay 5 cents a cup for all you could drink! Burgers were 25 cents and fries were 10 cents. The good ole days.
