I have been going to Great Dragon since the doors opened. I do not know if different people own the restaurant today than from the beginning, but I can attest to the quality of the food and service over the past several years. Ive eaten "Chinese"all my life since first acquiring a taste for it growing up in Chicago in the 1950s. No, Great Dragon does not compete with the likes of Jimmy Wongs in downtown Chicago, but for the small, family run restaurant that it is, I find it the best. The few--rare, actually--times my order was wrong or something might have been off-tasting, the staff did all they possibly could to make it right. My wife and I, our children, their spouses and now our eleven grandchildren have tried a wide range of their dishes and weve never been disappointed. I especially like the shrimp chow mein, house special egg foo young, Chinese vegetables with beef, and so many other combinations. The spring rolls are light crusted making them just perfect to bite into with a crunch. A family favorite are the crab meat rangoons and one grandchild, who wont eat Chinese (good heavens!) can eat from the limited kids menu and still feel hes part of the family going out to eat. Yep, an institution in Dubuque and a restaurant worth checking out.

Im pretty picky when it comes to my chinese food to begin with but... I ordered from here twice. The first time I ordered Chow Mein, and my boyfriend picked it up so he brought it home to Cascade and I was upset to see that the Chow Mein had NO noodles. What? Having worked in restaurants I chalked it up to a mistake and gave them another shot months later. They again, gave me no noodles. So I paid over $9 for a bowl of vegetables and an egg roll, not including the fried dumplings I also bought, which were terrible compared to what Ive had. I paid 24$ WITH TIP and my food was horrible. The best thing about my meal was the free egg roll. Probably wont be coming back again.

This is a nice, no-frills, family owned Chinese eatery serving up American Chinese classics at great prices. It is not a fancy place, but its clean and serves some very tasty food. Portion sizes are amazing for the price, a dinner special that cost about $10 fed me for two full meals. The General Tsos Chicken has a great flavor, less sweet than most General Tsos and more savory. Very good overall. Is it gourmet dining? No. But its the perfect place to scratch that Chinese food itch youve been getting, for a price that leaves your wallet happy.

Small place completely packed for lunch. So busy they didnt clean off the table before we could sit but we were in a hurry so we took the only open table. You can order off the menu like the table next to me did Or there is a small but good buffet. Green beans, rice noodle, chicken on a stick Everything was a bit better tasting than most Chinese buffets

The food in the buffet was freezing cold. THe chicken was so hard it broke my tooth. For $8.00, you dont have much to choose from. Theres a reason theres a microwave on the counter, to warm up the buffet because its cold, dry, and hard. I would NEVER go back. They gave me a carry out container instead of a refund and my dog wouldnt even eat it.

Im from Madison and no fast food Asian restaurant ever bother to bring the food to my table.... I thought this was going to be the same way as in Madison but it way better. I did not give a tip withy card bcuz I expected the same, but I left the cash tip. This place is great

Interesting place... Certainly showing its age with signs of weat and tear. Food was okay and buffet style; but a limited selection. Doesnt seat very many people. Id go back, if in the area. Okay for a quick lunch or carry out.

Great Dragon has the best Chinese take-out in town. Not a very nice dining room, but I usually get it to go anyway. They have good egg rolls, fried dumplings, and EXCELLENT General Tsos. Always ready in about 10 minutes!

Excellent weekday lunch buffet. The food is always hot, tasty, and ample. Best to go on a Thursday or Friday during the lunch hour. Be aware there is limited seating. Friendly and efficient staff. Recommended.

Ive always been a General Tsos guy. Then, in an effort to cut back on carbs, we tried the Mongolian Beef. It is, by far, the best I have ever had. I order it extra spicy and they nail it every time!

this place is horrible. the only good thing is the duck sauce. i have seen them drop food on the floor then put it back in the pan. they under cook all of the food and its horrible chiese.
